Well, the entire Origin of Hamburgers is clouded in controversy and yet they define America. They influence the world from global warming to global cuisine. From White Castle to the Nile. Even our blood flow is diminished in their presence.
Hamburgers are not part of our Michigan story. We are part of the hamburger story.

This is gonna become one of those things isn't it. Michigan is gonna Michigan. Some things never change. We stretch too long or we eat burgers at the wrong time and we happily fall on our own sword. There will never be a top tier NIL program. We really can't be outraged when exactly what you expect to happen happens. Other schools could murder hookers, drown babies by the dozen, kick a hundred puppies in a row right in the head, violate hoards of elderly woman by the truckload just for fun and so on and the NCAA would be fine with it. The second Michigan's piss trickles a little too much on the seat or flicks a booger on the carpet, the NCAAs wrinkly fartbag army in buy 1 get 4 Jos A. Bank suits will wag their jowls and scream "this is dispercaberrrr!!!!" and jump into action because they know those Michigan men like to take it right up the ole mud starfish every time. It is what it is.

We need to face it. Part of what makes Michigan what it is, is this Camelot-style vision we have of our university. The school has so much history that separates us from 95% of the academic institutions in the country. Due to that history that we are right to be proud of, we hold ourselves up to this legendary, mythical standard where as Leaders and Best, we are what other institutions of power should aspire to be like.
So, we'll continue to do what we do. We will take short term punishment (and humiliation) for long term gains. Unfortunately, those gains may not reach the same heights as other schools that don't spend time reading up on Camelot because they're spending time winning titles.
