OT - Georgia’s OC Chaney goes to Tennessee

Submitted by Ajcoss on January 8th, 2019 at 10:49 PM

What the heck is going on in Knoxville? They not only swiped several studs at end of the first recruiting cycle, got Salomon to come, now taking successful OC’s at a big program In a lateral move?? Very odd. Either Pruitt is a slick salesman or a cheater.

Could be interesting to see if Tennessee has a solid bounce back season and relevance in SEC. Better do it fast before probation.

Another high end program where recruits are impacted significantly. Gotta think this first recruiting cycle will die down with coaching changes this rampant.

How exactly is it fishy to hire a coach?  This is the strangest logic I've seen.  Hooker parties and broken promises the head coach can't deliver on?  Just what?

Maybe Georgia just wasn't that high on him and didn't want to match UT's offer.  Sometimes normal things happen.  Not every piece of news requires a tinfoil hat to analyze it.

I am not sure if giving a person more money would be cheating.  I would accept the exact same job I have right now if they increased my pay by significant amount.

Considering Georgia has been recruiting at a Bama tier for like 3 years now Id say their season was more disappointing than ours. Fairly certain Georgia now has the most 5 stars on their roster in CFB

Great point. We both ended 10-3. They beat UF, we beat MSU - the "rivals" nearby.

We stunk in our bowl, but no way did I see UGA getting beat by Texas and needing to rally to make it close.

UGA also lost the best QB in their state to Clemson, and the QB beat Nick by 28.

In any given season, we will play only one SEC team, at most.  And that would only be in the CFP or NY6 Bowl or NYD Bowl.

So anything that has them draining talent from each other is a good thing for us.

In comparison of Georgia to Alabama and Us to OSU ... pretty spot on. Both of us the second fiddle in our conferences by a wider margin than either wants to believe.

Georgia only won the SEC last year because Auburn beating Bama knocked them (Bama) out of the title game.  They weren't playing Bama for the title.  We would have had the a similar situation if Maryland had beaten OSU.  We would've then played NU and likely won the title.  I do think 2018 Georgia was better than 2018 UM, but being stuck in the same conference as a powerhouse does make everything more difficult.

This hire might put Harrison Bailey back in play for UGA and Michigan.  Chaney told Bailey he would never offer him unless he changed his throwing motion.  Pissed the dad off and by the time UGA did offer it was too late.
