OT: Fauci says sports can probably proceed without spectators (for summer)

Submitted by Broken Brilliance on April 15th, 2020 at 9:25 AM

Per ESPN

Take that, doomers. It's not what we all prefer, but it's far from the worst case scenario if it comes to pass.

I'll be very sad if I can't see a game at Michigan Stadium, Comerica Park or Lambeau Field this fall but I will take getting drunk in the mancave over the nothingness that is our current situation.

Now remove the stick from Newsome's ass.

Fauci is not the King of America. He spouts his mouth too much but is always given the opportunity to do so. He does not pass up this opportunity. Not a bad gig for someone who is an unelected official.

Not to mention that Every.Single.Fucking.Thing he has said had been completely fucking wrong.

And I think we are closer to the bottom of that slippery slope on the wrong side of it than at the top.  People cannot really be passive about it anymore.  That was about 2-3 weeks ago when “conversation” was in order.  Action is now required.  The contingent heading to the Capital today is a start.

No shit everything he’s said has been wrong.

”15 cases down to zero soon.”

”It’s been tremendously contained.”

”It’ll go away like magic.”

”No one could have predicted this.”

What kind of people actually believe and follow a total fucking loon who says these kinds of things?

Oh, wait, you weren’t talking about Trump...Oh, gosh, I’m so sorry. Boy is my face red.

Fucking spare me. The government has told people to stay in their homes during a global to prevent people from getting sick and dying and hopefully slow the spread of this thing enough so we’re not dealing with it for the next few years. And all you guys can do is scream like they’ve sentenced everyone to life in Alcatraz because you have to mow your own lawn and you can’t go golfing.

What is Gretchen Whitmer and Co. nefarious endgame here? Is she just waiting to spring her trap where she comes on TV and screams “YOU FOOLS! YOU’RE NOW TRAPPED IN YOUR HOMES FOREVER! I’M NEVER LETTING YOU OUT! HA, HA, HA, HA!!!”

Get a fucking grip.

Um, no. My mom was in tears yesterday because she isn't allowed to see her grandkids for the foreseeable future and can't see friends nor any other family. People are telling on their neighbors. Banning people from going to the store to buy paint is not preventing a single death.

And if you're wondering about the "end game" of a person who is a career politician in trying to gain more power and control, then you're quite naive.

Special Agent Utah

April 15th, 2020 at 11:14 AM ^

Tough shit for your mom. My mom can’t see her grandchildren either. Things are kind of hard for a lot of people at the moment.

People are getting sick and 25,000 of them have DIED, in very painful fashion, in roughly 6 weeks from this and you’re telling us the restrictions are too harsh because grammie can’t see the grandkids? It’d almost be funny if it wasn’t so damn selfish and pathetic.

And we’ve been through restrictions as a society before. Check WWII. You didn’t see the government continue to enforce those restrictions and force people to do things like buy rationed butter and black out their houses after the war ended.

evenyoubrutus

April 15th, 2020 at 11:16 AM ^

My mom not being allowed to drive 40 minutes to my house to see her grandkids is helping prevent spread of COVID how exactly?

Oh, it isn't. You're a real piece of work. But you called me selfish so I guess that makes you morally superior. I guess having a heart is more important than having a brain these days.

Special Agent Utah

April 15th, 2020 at 11:20 AM ^

Yeah I’m heartless that I want to see as few people die as possible even if it deprives grammie of some time with the kids.

If I haven’t made my point clear, let me reiterate:

YOU KNOW EXACTLY JACK SHIT ABOUT WHAT WILL AND WON’T HELP STOP THE SPREAD AND YOUR PROCLAMATIONS, IN THE FACE OF MEDICAL EVIDENCE TO THE CONTRARY, THAT “SO AND SO DOES NOTHING” TO STOP IT ARE THE WORST KIND OF STUPIDITY AND ARROGANCE POSSIBLE.

Your rage aside. He is right. This is horrible precedent for the future.

I have spent my (somewhat) long life studying and working in government and law.

If you can't see his point, you are a moron.

Special Agent Utah

April 15th, 2020 at 11:56 AM ^

If you can’t see that the US has gone through periods before where extreme measures have been put in place to protect the public/country and we’re still a functioning democracy with all our basic liberties still intact, despite the constant doom and gloom predictions of becoming an oppressive state. Then you’re the moron, regardless of how much you claimed to have studied.

PeterKlima

April 15th, 2020 at 12:08 PM ^

You mean like Japanese internment camps?

Real bright spot for our democracy.

I have read your other comments. You do not appear stable right now.  Take care of yourself.  We will live through this.

Special Agent Utah

April 15th, 2020 at 3:36 PM ^

Ah, the old “when all else fails, question their sanity” bit. Good, I was worried you weren’t going to use every cliche available.

”Some Japanese Americans were wrongly imprisoned 80 years ago. So that proves this is a pattern towards a policy state in 2020.”

Sound argument.

Don’t worry about me, I’m plenty fine, probably better than most. But go on thinking I’m nuts If it makes you feel better.

Sorry I get upset at the prospect of people dying so others aren’t inconvenienced. It’s a personal weakness of mine.

Let me know when/if you’re personally impacted by the pandemic making someone sick and your views then. In the meantime enjoy the view from the cheap seats.

PeterKlima

April 15th, 2020 at 4:41 PM ^

We all know people are dying and will die.

We will all know many people who get the virus. Many of us, myself included, will get the virus.

You are an idiot if you don't think we all know that.

We don't all have to live in fear like you. Speaking of the cheap seats, isn't that where you want us all to stay? Isn't living with the above risks what scares you the most?

It's okay to be scared.  We all are concerned about it.  Live on your knees, but don't get jealous of those who want to live on their feet even if it means there is a small chance they get really sick.

Special Agent Utah

April 15th, 2020 at 5:20 PM ^

Your “Live on your knees, die on your feet” battlecry is beyond moronic in this case.

This is not some invading army or oppressive government we’re fighting who want us to roll over and submit so they can slaughter us. So better we stand and fight and die like men.

This is a goddamned VIRUS. It doesn’are about political agendas or personal ideology or American exceptionalism or any of that crap. All it cares about is the easiest way that it can infect a host and possibly kill it as a result. That’s it.

In fact, it would RATHER people take a stance of “We’re not going to let the virus take our rights and freedom! Come on everyone go living as if nothing nothing is wrong!” It makes it’s job a whole lot easier.

These people who think ignoring safety protocols and are gathering in groups to protest and show the pandemic who’s really the boss are every bit as stupid as the fools who, when Hurricane Katrina was closing in, said they weren’t going to evacuate or seek shelter because no hurricane was going to tell them what to do by god. Only to either get killed or have to be rescued when Katrina showed it didn’t give a shit about their shows of defiance.

You seem reasonably intelligent and not a zealot, but do you really not understand how you can’t apply these concepts of fighting for your personal freedoms against a virus in the same way you do against a human opponent?

PeterKlima

April 15th, 2020 at 7:40 PM ^

The virus doesn't "care" about anything. It is not conscious.

It is also not taking any of our rights away. It is not conscious.

No one is showing it who is boss. It is not conscious.

You descriptions are petulant.

Who are you arguing with in your head?

Special Agent Utah

April 15th, 2020 at 9:52 PM ^

Well you’re the one responding.

The fact you can’t understand when I talking about the virus “caring” I’m doing it metaphorically, makes me retract my previous statement about you seemingly reasonably intelligent.

Sorry, won’t make that mistake again.

Are you crying the same freakin' river for the 60K who have died from the flu this season.  No I thought not.  You, as well as most of the sheeple herd are completely transfixed on the bright shiny object that the media has told you to pay attention to.  Meanwhile, your civil liberties are being ripped out right form underneath you and you don't seem to have a problem with it.  Now the latest, we are going to have to practice social distancing for the next year because gee golly there might be a rebound.  Do you want to live like this forever?  Because if we keep listening to people who don't have to live under the same limitations wew will be.

Special Agent Utah

April 15th, 2020 at 5:39 PM ^

Do your math, dumbfuck:

60K= one year of the flu.

25K= last six weeks of COVID.

Extrapolate those COVID numbers for one year and that equals 216,667 deaths.

216667>60000 (by quite a lot)

And that’s WITH the distancing measures that have been in place. Take them out and that 216667 goes up considerably.

Yeah I know. Fake math, deep state plot, liberal media agenda MAGA, etc. I’ve heard it all before. Only this time it’s on opponent who is totally impervious to efforts to spin it.

MileHighWolverine

April 15th, 2020 at 2:05 PM ^

Wow....25,000 people have died. Mostly aged 70 or older.

Well, I guess it's worth it to economically cripple 20,000,000 people (and counting) to keep the oldest living generation in the history of the world alive another 3 years before they die anyway.

chunkums

April 15th, 2020 at 4:07 PM ^

You realize that 25,000 people are dead DESPITE the fact that the entire economy is shut down and everyone is locked in their homes, right? That the exponential growth in deaths wasn't slowing down before those measures were put in place? This kind of reasoning is just so insane, but also so predictable. We should have known that any successful mitigation would be followed by ignorant people whining about how it wasn't even that bad.

Special Agent Utah

April 15th, 2020 at 11:36 AM ^

You know what, fine, defy restrictions, take your kids to see your mom. Take the risk with her life that you or the kids haven’t acquired the virus and are just asymptotic. There should be no problem because you’re so learned that you know everything about how it isand how it isn’t transmitted.

You win. The needs of your mom totally outweighs the needs of the greater good as well as her own possible health.

Go ahead Mr. Smartfuck, you clearly know it all, take the gamble hot shot.

Special Agent Utah

April 15th, 2020 at 11:50 AM ^

Whatever, dumbshit.

I call out your stupid beliefs about how this situation is going to lead to complete and unlimited marshall law and you spout shit about how grammie seeing the kids isn’t going to hurt anything.

I call out your stupid beliefs how grammie seeing the kids isn’t going to hurt anything, and you revert to your prior bullshit about how this is really about how it’s going to lead to complete and unlimited martial law.

It’s like a never ending cycle of moving the goalposts to accommodate your idiocy sprinkled with childish derogatory comments about special education.

Just go fuck your self you lazy, entitled, selfish, tin foil hat wearing, ignorant, prick. I’m done here.

Okay, I will admit that my "special" comment was uncalled for, and I apologize for being insensitive. Admittedly you got under my skin a little, but that's no excuse for saying something like that.

Having said that you need to calm the fuck down. This discussion is going nowhere because you're losing your shit.

heyyoujesson

April 15th, 2020 at 12:15 PM ^

I just read through that whole thing and the discussion is going nowhere because you do the same thing that you always do when the current situation touches your life, you lash out on here and start spreading your nonsense about government take over and all the other stuff. You did the same thing weeks ago when your wife's business was having problems and here you are doing again because your mom can't see the kids. My mom lives ten minutes away and hasn't seen my kids in weeks. Just control yourself, don't you think it's bizarre to repeatedly act out in this manner on here?

evenyoubrutus

April 15th, 2020 at 12:30 PM ^

Lashing out? So me saying "here is how this situation affects me personally (implying it probably affects many others the same way)" is lashing out, but Utah saying, and i quote:

Just go fuck your self you lazy, entitled, selfish, tin foil hat wearing, ignorant, prick. I’m done here.

is not lashing out?

Has your mom or grandkids or the people in the house with the grandkids been to the grocery store, etc? How do you know they didn't get it while out for essential things? Do you really not see how relatives going to see one another couldn't lead to spreading it? We are all making sacrifices right now so that we can get back to normal sooner and to help with hospitals being overwhelmed. Your mom not seeing her grandkids for a period is not the worst tragedy in the world. The bigger tragedy would be if a asymptomatic grandchild, etc gave it to your mom and something happened to her or our hospitals becoming overwhelmed and it causing more deaths.

evenyoubrutus

April 15th, 2020 at 11:30 AM ^

This is getting completely off my original point because Special Agent Utah thinks he has supreme intellectual authority here. The government LOCKING people in their homes based on guesses and projections is a slippery slope. How can we not agree on this? People argue with me by saying "well it's really not that bad" and I'm pointing out that yes, it is that bad. And it's likely to be worse in the future.

jmblue

April 15th, 2020 at 12:54 PM ^

No government has this all planned out.  No one knows what the next year holds.  It's a new virus that we haven't faced before and we're still learning about it.  A lot will depend on how low we can bring the curve and how fast we can ramp up our testing capabilities and treatment.

BroadneckBlue21

April 15th, 2020 at 11:17 AM ^

Yeah, because these same government people want to live their lives getting up on a podium every night of their damn lives. How fucking stupid is that—all the governors got together and said it is is great to spend months of their lives talking about the impending doom if we don’t quarantine. What kind of power would that be for a governor? Yeah, instead of going on awesome vacation conferences in Hawaii on taxpayer dimes, they get to do live conferences every—single—day.

If you think the mental toll is hard on us, imagine being in charge of trying to mitigate this shitty event. There’s no deeper thinking in the slippery slope.

The whole point of funding pandemic panels is to avoid the kind of outcomes like we are having. A decade of studying how to handle these things was thrown out the window because some dumb fucking con man got a bunch of dumb voters to elect him so he could make dumb ducking decisions during a dangerous event.

The leader of the US should be be smart enough to not downplay new viruses from the start. That would ensure less fear, less infections, less death from the start. Medical personnel were the very first people to cry for help, not some bureaucrats. We just happen to have the worst administration in charge of the Federal government in a time of a major health war.

The only way for there to be futures that do what you fear is if dumb Americans elect another dumbass failure of a greedy human who never did one good thing for those who worked for him, who stole from laborers who built his hotels and casinos, who cheated all of us with his bankruptcies and his fake college and his shitty steaks.

Trump fans act like those who see his failures hate him for no reason, or simply because of his politics. No, we despise his actions and power because he’s the D-F student who has inherited money and is so fucking egotistical and loud  that the overwhelmingly average C students convince the A and B students that’s we should listen to the DF’s “charisma.” He should go off and be rich—we don’t need to not like him. He could be an arrogant prick and it would not matter. What matters is that he is and has always been unqualified as a leader.

The republic will only fail if we elect failures and then let them fail and then blame the structure of government and not those we have the keys. These failures are Donald Fucking Trump’s failures. Inept leader of the free world—America is being saved by governors and scientists.

That is not the pont.

I voted for her.

I am fine with a Stay at Home order.

She did a crap job on her version.  The lawmakers should make laws.

There are legitimate reasons to criticize her for it.  We should stand up to hastily and poorly drafted laws.
