OT: ex-Wolverine Jabrill Peppers wins enthusiastic coin toss against ex-Buckeye

Two NFL captains meet at midfield for an overtime coin flip. Both are safeties. Both are from New Jersey. One went to Ohio State and one went to Michigan. Hilariousness ensues.

I think it's great when the Michigan/Ohio State rivalry crops up unsuspectedly, so it was really funny to see the two face-off for the most talentless part of any sports game, the coin toss. Frankly, I think that for each game, teams should have to designate one fan from the stands who gets to call heads or tails. It would really add to the sense of drama for everyone at the game. Pull them out and and walk dramatically to midfield, the whole rigamarole.

Anyway, Jabrill Pepper's won the hell out of that coin toss against Malcolm Jenkins (OSU/Saints). There seems to be debate about what exactly Jabrill said to the ref when calling heads/tails, and what he said after. But what is not up for debate is that Jabrill won in enthusiasm.

"Heads. I'm confident. "Boom! We want that motherfucker!"

I read that Jabrill has struggled to get defensive snaps this season (I think he's always been a guy without a real position in the NFL). But he's big on special teams and the players/coaches have so much respect for him that he's been named captain. We only got two full seasons of this guy, but he was a special player and really fun to watch.

I think he went out with a hammy yesterday in the 2nd quarter, he also let up a TD on coverage and a big play to put the Falcons in FG range last week, his coverage discipline seems a little off, probably would be after basically playing viper for the last 6 years. He’s still major in the return game and his linebacker and blitzing instincts clearly help the team.

however, he may have helped in one of those 2 Taysom Hill TD’s had he been in, certainly more than Adorre Jackson who just got ran over by Hill twice.

He's a "football player."

Drove me crazy that (some) Michigan fans railed on him because of what happened at the end of seasons. Went as far as to say he was faking injuries.

The perfect VIPER and the original "you will not edge (insert player)." He was a DESTROYER of bubble screens.

The punt returns yardage he saved by racing across the field and diving on the ball or swatting it out of bounds is something I'll never forget. Same with the fact that to this day I've never seen someone get so angry about a punt out of bounds that he couldn't return - he would throw mini tantrums.

But the thing that will haunt me to my grave. That fucking holding or block in the back call on his punt return in the Rutgers blowout when he went home. The closest football will ever come to "the perfect game." Ugh, pains me to think about. The Heisman moment that was taken away.

Watched this live….in only my mind I made this a clear OSU v UM matchup after that coin toss, Jenkins was visibly annoyed with the enthusiasm of Peppers, I was all Giants all the way after that toss.
