OT- Dwan Mathis (Oak Park QB): Home Grown Crootin'

Submitted by Denarded on December 19th, 2018 at 10:03 AM

247 Composite 4 star Dwan Mathis QB from Oak Park HS has had quite the past 2 years of recruiting:

February 2017: Commits to Iowa State

September 2017: Decommits from ISU, commits to Michigan State

June 2018: Decommits from MSU, commits to Ohio State

December 2018: Waivers his commitment from OSU because of the Justin Fields rumors, goes onto take Justin Fields spot in the Quarterback room in Athens and commits to Georgia.

Some good ole fashioned Crootin!

Martell and Hurts would be the same type of QB. If Haskins is any indication, Day doesn't need a running QB to do damage. In fact, I would say he prefers someone who is a danger to throw and we may actually see OSU go more air raid style. Of course Day is smart enough to adjust to his QB so if Martell is there, it will be similar to what we saw out of JT Barrett.

Look- one thing I learned in the Marine Corps is to NEVER underestimate the enemy. ever. Martell is legit. Seriously legit. was the #2 dual threat QB in the nation behind Tua. Kid has a chip on his shoulder. We need to recognize what is in front of us and plan to take it head on, eyes wide open. Martell is a lot like JT Barrett but only a ton better running the ball.  I for one would rather see an unproven freshmen like Baldwin win out and try to beat him with pressure.

FYI, this video is absolutely perfect for describing my experience every time I ask my wife which restaurant she wants to eat at...

Mathis actually tried to flip back to MSU this week and Dantonio turned him down. Mathis was upset that OSU could not sign and enroll him early due to academics. So, he called Georgia and due to the fact they believe Fields is leaving they took him.

On a side note: Fields has not left GA yet and still has to gain immediate eligibility if he does leave. OSU might be a preferred destination, but there are a lot of hurdles to clear. Oklahoma and others will get in on that action as well.
