OT: Detroit Tigers listen to reason; will bring back traditional caps
Per the freep.
I think this was a very prudent decision. The larger "D" was a bit much to handle.
Of course, size doesn't matter as much as how you use it. Hopefully the team will show more fortitude this season.
Now, bring back the traditional "D" for the home jerseys and many fans will stand at attention.

For some reason I thought this was referring to the salary cap.... then was very confused for a moment with the double entendres.

Sorry if it was hard to read.

Just go slow and think about baseball.

Can't wait to see the D out there in the grass

Good. Old hat better. Old jersey better.
Maize pants better.

Yes.
Yes.
No.

Obviously this is the most important thing plaguing the Tigers.
Keep up the good work!
February 1st, 2019 at 3:34 PM ^
Now if they would only bring back Verlander, Scherzer, Porcello, JD Martinez, Alan Trammell, Lou Whitaker, Aurelio Rodriguez, Mark "The Bird" Fidrych, John Hiller, Mickey Lolich, Al Kaline, Willie Horton, Norm Cash, Bill Freehan, Rocky Colavito, and maybe even Ty Cobb, and administer the fountain of youth to Miggy, they might be contenders again.
February 1st, 2019 at 3:40 PM ^
Ty Cobb?
February 1st, 2019 at 3:47 PM ^
Ok. The Ghost of Ty Cobb then.
February 1st, 2019 at 4:24 PM ^
Quite a few ghosts on your list.
February 1st, 2019 at 4:37 PM ^
But, like Casper, they're all good ghosts.
February 1st, 2019 at 3:59 PM ^
2014 SP: Scherzer, Price, Verlander, Porcello.
+Cabrera, JD, Kinsler, VMart
That's all. I can win with those guys.

Now that a few of them have learned how to win in the post--season...
February 1st, 2019 at 6:06 PM ^
It's more that they have managers that know how to manage in the post season. Ausmus was a terrible hire.
February 1st, 2019 at 7:09 PM ^
While I totally agree about Ausmus, this same core group of players couldn't win it all under Leyland either.
Yeah, I know other players came and went over the contending seasons starting in 2006, and that Dombrowski never got the bullpen right (not absolving Leyland of bullpen blame either, BTW), but the window of opportunity for the Tigers was wide open for a long time and they just couldn't close the deal.
That said, it was a fun time to be a Tigers fan. I just don't want the current woes to go on and on and on forever like it did once Sparky Anderson's run ended.
February 4th, 2019 at 12:20 PM ^
Don't forget Chet Lemon, Jack Morris, Lance Parrish, Dan Petry, Milt Wilcox, and Willie Hernandez...
February 1st, 2019 at 3:35 PM ^
The larger "D" was a bit much to handle.
Obligatory "that's what she said"
February 1st, 2019 at 3:36 PM ^
Now if they'd only bring back Mario and Rod.....
I jest..... i jest..
February 1st, 2019 at 3:45 PM ^
I love listening to a good ole baseball cap. Very relaxing. Me and Smitty McDinglepuss used to listen to baseball caps every Saturday back when you could get a Hershey for a nickel...............a nickel
February 1st, 2019 at 3:45 PM ^
Are the sales numbers available anywhere? I have to assume when they say that they listened to fans that they really mean that they didn’t sell any of the cartoon jumbo logo.
February 1st, 2019 at 3:52 PM ^
Had no clue it even changed. Perhaps I would have noticed if the Tigers weren't a steaming pile o shit over the past couple years.
February 1st, 2019 at 4:04 PM ^
Pictures please - or it didn't happen!
February 1st, 2019 at 4:15 PM ^
You can Google enlarged D at your own risk
February 1st, 2019 at 4:30 PM ^
I didn't like the change to the hat - it's iconic, so why tinker with an iconic logo? I am pleased at this news.
February 1st, 2019 at 4:38 PM ^
They may win a grand total of 59 games this season.
February 1st, 2019 at 4:51 PM ^
Thank goodness. I was not a fan of the oversized logo.
February 1st, 2019 at 5:13 PM ^
I didn't even know about the larger logo and had to google it to find out what the deal was. I prefer the smaller size, but I've seen much worse than the larger version.
But while I was at the Freep I came across this horrible story about Joe Murphy. I had no idea that this had happened to him. Just awful and tragic.

I guess when you have nothing to root for this is all fans can cling to with regards to the tigers.
Lol
February 1st, 2019 at 7:00 PM ^
So the biggies will be returned to the gas stations they came from?
February 2nd, 2019 at 9:19 AM ^
Technically, they aren't. They compromised on a size in between the old and last year's.
February 2nd, 2019 at 1:58 PM ^
Good move, Tigers.
Now keep your fingers crossed that we can be like the Whitesox or Phillies in 3 years, if all goes according to Avila’s plan..................
February 4th, 2019 at 8:29 AM ^
Shut the fuck up, Donny.
