OT: Dante Moore flips from Orgeon to UCLA
I look forward to when Michigan plays him in the not-so-distant future.

If he pulled a true Frankie Collins he wouldve left when hearing a Tight End was transferring in from an Ivy league school but he also played QB at some point in his career. Also that a very undersized incoming freshman would be his backup.
December 19th, 2022 at 2:31 PM ^
Yeah, the idea UCLA outbid Oregon for him is sorta silly, especially since UCLA had one other guy in the top 300 before Moore signed up. If UCLA was really throwing around buckets of money you'd figure they'd have done so before now.
It's playing time and a big media market. My guess is UCLA will struggle next year losing a ton of production and Moore will have some games where he looks dynamite and others where he looks like a true freshman playing with average P5 talent.
December 19th, 2022 at 1:04 PM ^
Wonder if this a result of Bo Nix returning next year.
December 19th, 2022 at 1:09 PM ^
I'll venture to say it was the weather in SoCal vs Oregon... Stay in LA too long and you won't want to leave. Plus he will be in the Big Ten.
December 19th, 2022 at 1:35 PM ^
Looks like more money and immediate playing time - not the weather or Big Ten - was the motivation. BTW, I left LA - as have a lot of friends recently - I loved it for a long time but don’t miss it.
December 19th, 2022 at 1:05 PM ^
Remember when we lost him and the sky was falling? It's obvious now we never had a real chance to begin with, his interest in Michigan was probably only due to the fact that his dad is a fan.
December 19th, 2022 at 2:10 PM ^
Well it's just a damn shame he doesn't want to make his Dad happy!
When the rumors swirled that Nike was setting his family up with "jobs" going to Oregon made financial sense.
This move doesn't make sense!
December 19th, 2022 at 1:11 PM ^
More Moore...
December 19th, 2022 at 1:13 PM ^
NIL was obviously huge. Also, he wants to start right away and that wasn’t happening here.
December 19th, 2022 at 1:17 PM ^
I legitimately wonder if the home crowds he'll play in front of at UCLA will be larger than he had in HS
December 19th, 2022 at 1:29 PM ^
....close to this....
December 19th, 2022 at 1:47 PM ^
or exactly like this. These pictures are actually from this season.
And the attendance for a RANKED Fri night primetime matchup against Washington? 41 thousand. Less than half filled. For two ranked teams. At night.
December 19th, 2022 at 8:47 PM ^
Andrew, it could have been terrible weather on that Friday night in Pasadena.
I’ve heard Buckeyes complain about November weather… it might have been the same there.
December 19th, 2022 at 2:03 PM ^
EGJ, I’m not sure if this is really fair. I heard his friend had to use the washroom when this picture was taken.
December 19th, 2022 at 2:11 PM ^
When B10 teams start playing there they will!
December 19th, 2022 at 1:27 PM ^
i look forward to us not talking about him. its pretty clear we feel scorned and are kinda sore about it. so if this makes him look bad, we feel better.
But whatever at this point.. enough about a guy who clearly had limited interest if any in UM. Go join UCLA and enjoy being 7-5 every year.
December 19th, 2022 at 1:36 PM ^
Seconded.
December 19th, 2022 at 1:30 PM ^
Going to be pretty awkward when Moore's relatives show up for first day of work at Nike.
December 19th, 2022 at 1:42 PM ^
Meh, UCLA is a jumpman school. They'll be fine.
December 19th, 2022 at 1:35 PM ^
I'm pretty sure Harbaugh and company backed off recruiting Moore. It doesn't seem like this kid was going to fit into the culture at Michigan.
December 19th, 2022 at 2:26 PM ^
They absolutely wanted Moore. There was no "backing off". It just seemed Moore wanted to get away from Michigan......far far away. Maybe he has toxic people in his life from Detroit and sees this as his chance to say bye bye.
December 19th, 2022 at 1:59 PM ^
Reminds me of that TE we lost to UCLA. No flakes please.
December 19th, 2022 at 2:04 PM ^
Lomas, I think Asiasi had family issues he was working through, or needed to be closer to home to support / address.
December 19th, 2022 at 2:20 PM ^
He may have been referring to Chris Clark who was a big target for Harbaugh's original recruiting class but went to UCLA, then transferred around and flamed out.
December 19th, 2022 at 2:51 PM ^
Yes, I was referring to Clark. https://www.elevenwarriors.com/forum/college-sports/2018/06/93515/membe… (apologies for link source)
December 19th, 2022 at 1:59 PM ^
Maybe he didn't want to participate in an orge-on.
December 19th, 2022 at 2:23 PM ^
Found RG III's mgoblog account!
December 19th, 2022 at 2:00 PM ^
Moore and Moore recruiting news every time I check the app today.
December 19th, 2022 at 2:05 PM ^
It’s obvious now he wasn’t ever a fit for Michigan. Wish the kid luck and pray Davis commits!
December 19th, 2022 at 2:11 PM ^
There have been a lot of talks about Moore's ego and attitude. I want to first iterate that Dante Moore is an incredible talent. I saw him making D-1 throws in-game vs high competition as a sophomore. His “next great QB” title has gone back all the way to the 5th grade in PAL with the Detroit Spartans. He is a very smart QB, and a very impressive young man. He’s not cocky, plays with an edge but respects the game a lot.
I know a few people in his circle however, and I wouldn’t use the aforementioned adjectives to describe them. PAL and a lot of the “men” who run in that circle are toxic; much like AAU basketball. I really hope he can get his money for him and his family and ditch a lot of the baggage that has been attached to him for years. He has a lot of people in his ear right now, and I can’t say they all have HIS best interest in mind.
December 19th, 2022 at 2:11 PM ^
UCLA has a really weird class - Moore is the #11 prospect in the country and the next-highest rated guy is a WR at 291. And UCLA hasn't finished with a top-20 class for at least the last 4 years and mostly relied on 4th and 5th-year players to move them offensively. That's not going to be the case next year and while UCLA has been active in the portal this feels more like a either-or by Kelly and not a yes-and decision. If Moore transfers in a year or two I wouldn't be shocked.
Anyway, Michigan will be fine either way.
December 19th, 2022 at 5:55 PM ^
Kelly switched to a transfer heavy recruiting strategy once the portal opened up. The argument being that he could more easily judge if a player was ready to help. I don't buy it, and think it was more along the lines of a transfer portal guy requires a couple months recruiting at most vs. a high school kid requiring longer time commitments. This would be fine if A) the transfers in were above replacement level(Charbonnet excepted) and B) There were enough players in the program to provide depth. I have a feeling UCLA is going to crash pretty hard next year and Moore is in for a pretty rough ride, which is why I can't make this decision make sense. Oregon I understood, UCLA...not so much.
December 19th, 2022 at 2:12 PM ^
I’ve heard that eventually playing on Sundays is an important factor for highly regarded and talented high school prospects.
So, I took the Liberty of reviewing the NFL records - as a coach - of two current college coaches.
Both were head coaches in the NFL for four years. One coach had a 28-35 record. The other had a 44-19-1 record. The two coaches were Chip Kelly and Jim Harbaugh. Can you guess which record belongs to which coach?
A. Chip Kelly: 44-19-1, Jim Harbaugh: 28-35. Or,
B. Chip Kelly: 28-35, Jim Harbaugh: 44-19-1.

I think this has much more to do with Bo Nix announcing he is returning at Oregon than a potential higher NIL bid by UCLA.
December 19th, 2022 at 3:35 PM ^
When Oregon's OC Dillingham left to coach ASU, and UCLA backed up the Brinks truck, it was pretty much a wrap.
December 19th, 2022 at 2:18 PM ^
This kid has some interesting priorities.
More power to him.
December 19th, 2022 at 2:19 PM ^
be curious to see if he's headed to Pitt next year, then UConn after that and eventually Stony Brook and/or Morgan State.
December 19th, 2022 at 3:05 PM ^
As long as he doesn't flip to Ohio State.
December 19th, 2022 at 3:12 PM ^
So much for his dad telling Sam NIL wouldn’t influence his commitment …..
December 19th, 2022 at 4:33 PM ^
See the recruiting classes recap a few posts above. I dont think NIL is working for UCLA.
December 19th, 2022 at 3:24 PM ^
At this point its pretty clear that this is a recruitment that Michigan was never going to win. And that's okay. Harbaugh is clearly building a culture where he wants kids who are ready to bet on themselves, and he'll be there cheering them on when they reap their rewards on campus.
As for Moore, he's free to do what he wishes here. I don't blame a 17-18 year old kid, or really anyone for that matter, for wanting to maximize their earnings and secure their financial future for themselves and their families. This is what grown adults do every day in job searches. They look for the highest bidder and go work for them. Who's going to offer me the most money? You will? Okay, you've got my services until I feel like I can continue maximizing my earnings elsewhere.
You really going to hate on a kid for being dazzled by someone throwing millions of dollars at them? I don't know anyone on this board personally, but I don't have to in order to know that at least half of us would probably be doing what Moore is doing right now if we were in his shoes.
I see the argument for how this is going to kill whatever is left of the soul of college football, but if that's how you feel, don't hate the recruits for participating in a now legal system. Hate the people who designed the rules as they are. Hate the "adults in the room" who decided that NIL becoming the Wild West was the best option.
December 19th, 2022 at 5:36 PM ^
I have enough hate to go around for everybody
December 19th, 2022 at 3:24 PM ^
Still not excited about UCLA and USC joining the B1G, even ignoring the distance factor. People from Calif like to set their own rules. That's like a different culture out there and very parochial. That's where I grew up before heading to M. That's one of the reasons I wanted to leave. This flip is probably about the $$$, not about the academic, athletic, or weather-related supposed virtues of UCLA.
December 19th, 2022 at 4:30 PM ^
The offensive coordinator at Oregon left to be a head coach. Moore liked him.
Moore fits Chip Kelly's style. He's probably going to work out great with him.
December 19th, 2022 at 4:59 PM ^
We are a conference with both Iowa and OSU, it's not like everyone in the conference is the same right now and UCLA/SC will wreck that. I'm pumped for it. Adapt or die.
December 19th, 2022 at 3:30 PM ^
Disappointed it was not posted sooner but, OPs username checks out.

Better Orgeron than us.
December 19th, 2022 at 3:56 PM ^
Is Orgeon where Alex Orji is from?
December 19th, 2022 at 3:59 PM ^
Whatever
December 19th, 2022 at 4:27 PM ^
The idea of him going to State was always ridiculous. It cropped up in the days immediately following the tunnel. I just viewed it as a way for State fans to medicate themselves over the tunnel suspensions, and the bad year they were having.
