Only way that happens is if Oregon wins in a fluky way, and FSU roll Louisville... even then, beating Washington is huge for Oregon and they'd likely still jump to 3rd. I don't really see a path to Michigan playing FSU.
The call on the field was incorrect, but understandable given the ref's view. The review not overturning it was correct. The failure to have an overhead camera angle that would have made it indisputable is unfortunate.
Focusing on the positive, that was a well-called and aggressive 2 minute drill by Moore. I'd like to think we'd have been successful too with Wilson on the field.
How about better refs? JK, we had opportunities to take control of this game. Last year we were outmatched, but I don't think this year's loss is a systemic failure. I honestly think we would beat TCU 4 out of 5 times.
As for what we need going forward... we have good receivers but are missing at least one elite one. Or perhaps we just need to improve the coaching of our receivers, especially their route running.
I've been saying all along that UM needs to win in Cbus to get in the CFP but if Tennessee and USC both lose tonight, and Georgia and TCU win out... I could now see an 11-1 UM sneak in at #4 over a 2 loss PAC 12 team or a 2 loss LSU or Tennessee.
