OT: Colorado unveils $165 million Champions Center

Submitted by Maizen on
The arms race is alive and well in college athletics. This is pretty cool. Puts them in a class with Bama, Oregon, Tennessee, Georgia, OSU, Texas A&M, Clemson, etc of the world with brand spanking new football facilities. Makes you wonder what's in store for Schembechler Hall. The museum looks great but the rest of the facility is outdated.

Not sure about their football team but I'd take those Boulder girls over any other city

That is a damn nice facility, too bad they fucking suck..... Though, I would like to see our facilities upgraded across the board, this is Michigan.

Looks like a really nice facility.   But they couldn't buy a Harbaugh for any of that 165 million so i still like what we got better.

Michigan Stadium is iconic in CFB but Folsom blows it away in terms of setting and views (facing west). The suites on the east side easily rival Michigan Stadium and they sell alcohol. When they banned general beer sales in about '98 people flipped out. We were drinking beers at the 1996 M vs CU game ...the 'other' Hail Mary (threw by Ty Detmer) that fell to the ground incomplete.

Which is why the scenery views are so important. When the team sucks you are somewhat placated by the beautiful vista.

That also may be a contributing factor to our own angst over the last decade - once in the Big House, there's nothing to look away at!

by CU. Before they built this their facilities were basically a joke. Most 1-AA programs had better facilities. They needed this just to get closer to most big time programs. They probably still lag behind most Pac12 schools when it comes to facilities.

Remember that college football is an amateur sport.  You can tell by how little their head coaches make, and the way their facilities would be put to shame by your local YMCA.

Colorado still has a football program? When was the last time they had a winning season?

Not that I sympathize or anything, seeing as how I witnessed Stewart-to-Westbrook live in 1994. Still a painful memory.

Nice facility, but that is a damn long video. Re:Champions, we'll see what they say after we play them next year. Hopefully we ruthlessly crush them.
