Some article highlights:

West Virginia men's basketball coach Bob Huggins was reportedly arrested Friday in Pittsburgh and charged with a DUI.

Officers initially observed Huggins' car blocking the road, per a police report. The driver's side door was open and one of the tires on the car was flat and shredded. While directing Huggins to move the car to the side of the road, officers suspected Huggins was intoxicated. Huggins was pulled over and issued a field-sobriety test, which he failed. He was charged with DUI and released from custody.

Officers reportedly also found a trash bag with empty beer cans on the passenger side floor of the car, per a criminal complaint. Huggins reportedly blew a .210 on a breathalyzer.

Huggins was previously arrested for DUI in 2004, when he was the men's basketball coach at Cincinnati. Huggins pleaded no contest to that charge.

Tough month for ole Huggy.

I really cant understand how this happens to someone his age.  Many of us have probably drove after some drinks before at some point when we were young and not making good decisions.  This guy is pushing 70 and still doing this? He could easily get a limo with the money he makes.  I just dont get it.

Huggins is resigning because of this.  Which he should after the remarks he said on the radio which resulted in a big fine in pay fro WVU and now this.   They just got a bunch of good transfers wonder if any back out.   The center they got from Cuse would be awesome to have here dude is a defensive force along with some scoring ability.

Very sad but many saw this coming.

in addition, the report indicates he was driving a leased WVU vehicle.

I was very afraid of him dying on the court during a game given how overweight he is and his history of serious cardiac disease.

69 years old and storing empty beer cans in a garbage bag inside the car.  Yeesh.

This reminds me of "E, F, G, H, I, K, L, N, Z."  That was Huggins' attempt at reciting the alphabet from E to P, as part of his 2004 DUI arrest in suburban Cincinnati.

FFS, this is not punching down. There are tons of people addicted to all types of things who aren't proud bigots and jerks like Huggins. Since when did our society start excusing being an asshole by blaming "addiction issues"? If the loser badge fits, wear it.

Soon to be former West Virginia men's basketball coach. This plus the homophobic stuff--I could see the announcement of his 'retirement' come Monday at the latest. He's a great coach, but anybody could see something like this coming. Hopefully he seeks out the help he needs.

It appears to be in a tavern of some sort.

Back in 93 I got smashed, hit a telephone pole(it won). I passed out and don't remember hitting it. I was "lucky" enough to get mine before the moms got really pissed about it so I got out fairly cheap. I baled out and went to where I hit the pole, 5 yds to the right and I would have plowed through a gas station. God spoke and I listened. Never drank and drove since. I can still knock em back pretty good but the truck stays home.

I hope he can figure it out before he dies. Right now it seems like he doesn't have long considering his physical condition.

and a .210 is nothing to sneeze at.  it might not be a home-run shot, but it sure isn't a bunt single, either.

bag full of empties?  unless he's dumpster diving, there is a very serious problem there.

Nonsense, this is Michigan fergodsakes. Math and science and stuff.

Just keep in mind that your body processes alcohol at a constant rate of .5 oz. per hour, regardless of how many ounces you consume.

To get to 0.210 depending on weight you’re talking about approximately 5 oz. Assuming your martini is 2-3 oz (keep in mind that the glass holds 7 oz and people complain about a 1/2 full martini) 2 drinks (or less with a “friendly” pour) even over some time = 0.210 without much effort.

It’s a lot easier to get to 0.210 without having to go to ER or being fall down drunk than most people recognize.

Best to just Uber.

not sure if you're serious. but if you are, you are way off, like by an entire digit.  i have handled well over 1,000 cases, put on presentations on the science, including one a couple of weeks ago having to do with the michigan state police rolling out their new breath testing machine, the intoxilyzer 9000.  i have presented to judges and juries, spoken to and examined experts, doctors and scientists on the science, yada yada yada.

huggins' .210 means he is .210% of alcohol per 210 liters of breath.   for a guy his size, maybe even 300 lbs, we'll round up and say a regular drink (remember, a 1 oz shot of 80 proof is 40% ethanol, the type of alcohol they are seeking to measure.) for him is  .015 % of alcohol.  think of it like 15 points.  for context, .08 is the legal limit in our country.  think of that like 80 points.  huggins was at 210 points.

so divide that 210 points by 15 points per standard drink and you get 14 standard drinks on board when they tested him.  as mentioned, you generally burn off .015%/hr, basically 15 points an hour.   so if it took 3 hrs to drink all that, he'd have burned off 3 drinks and the total number of drinks would be 17, again, rounding for easy math.

certainly you can buy drinks that have 2,3, 4 shots worth of booze, and the 'drink' number is divided accordingly.  but unless his drinks were about 8 shots each, ain't no 'two drinks' is going to get a 250 lb guy, or even a smaller one, up to a .210.

I agree best to just Uber but your BAC calculations are way wrong .... math and science and stuff?

Every calculator I have seen shows a 170 pound person having 4 1.5 oz drinks in 2 hours is at 0.08% - 0.09%. To get to 0.21% on 5 oz of 80-proof alcohol, you would need to be a 75 lb. female and drink all 5 oz. in 10 minutes.

Sounds like Huggins needs a good ole dose of reality and AA. Blowing a .210 means he had about 10 drinks in 3 hours or less.

Good luck to him. Not all alcoholics are assholes, but driving while drunk is asshole behavior. Hope he gets sober.

At his likely weight, those 10 drinks are super-duper drinks.  In the standard breakdown, and guessing his weight at 250 lbs, he’s got about 15 drinks on board, and you burn off about .015 per hour.  In other words he drank 18 in your 3 hr hypothetical.

standard drink= 1 Oz of 80 proof/4 Oz of wine/12 Oz of beer

Will this incident, on top of his recent public homophobic slurs, be his 'Bobby Knight chokes Neil Reed' moment? Odds are maybe 50-50% that he gets fired....errrr retires. But most non-WVU onlookers know the right answer.
