OT: BIGX11 Championship Game = bad football
This game has tons of action, but whoooo boy are these teams unsound and poorly coached. I am amazed at the bad football being played by both sides. Both teams are trying to give the game away. Even if Oklahoma State wins, no way the selection committee looks at this game and sees them as 1 of the top 4 teams in the country.

Or looking the other way on an obvious grounding calls as in Iron Bowl last week.

Man, what a weirdly thrilling if sloppy title game.
Again, I like the weirdness getting itself out of the way now.

If UM fans are looking for the guaranteed scenario for UM to make the CFP, no matter what happens vs Iowa, then Baylor barely defeating Ok.State is perfect first step of what will take several specific steps today.

Now UM fans beg, plead, make animal sacrifices to whichever god(s) they worship that Georgia crushes GA, and Houston defeats Cincinnati, if UM fans are looking for the guaranteed scenario for UM to make the CFP, no matter what happens vs Iowa.

There might be a grad assistant getting crushed right now for Georgia after that first half.

Win the game!

Molly's questions are terrible. No wonder Jim avoids her like the plague.

That was hideous football. Glad we don’t have to watch either of these teams in the cfp. Except now we may need to watch ND. Or a 2 loss Bama.
December 4th, 2021 at 3:38 PM ^
Before today I wanted Oklahoma State to win simply to be an impediment to #6 ND and #7 OSU possibly sneaking up into the top 4.
However, I think the Baylor win helps us if the favorites win tonight. This is because we'd likely be matched up against Cincinnati in the semis.
I think the playoff committee wanted to keep Cincinnati as the 4 seed, but they will be hard to leap frog ND or any 2 loss team over them.
December 4th, 2021 at 3:41 PM ^
The committee is going to move mountains to keep Georgia and Alabama from playing each other in the first round of the playoffs.
December 4th, 2021 at 3:39 PM ^
That was highly competitive bad football. It had a great ending but it seemed as though no one wanted to win it.
December 4th, 2021 at 3:44 PM ^
Coaching malpractice by OSU to keep pounding the ball up the middle within the 5yd line. By the time they realized it wasn't going to work, it was too late.
December 4th, 2021 at 4:07 PM ^
I don't know, they got to the 1-yard line with two downs to go. Then they went away from it, throwing a pass and running outside.
From the one, I think you should just go forward. A QB sneak probably gets in on one of the two tries.

Oklahoma and Texas future results in the SEC < Penn State & Nebraska results in B1G.
Me thinks Texas opened the entire SEC to their recruiting grounds and Oklahoma is going to get starved out of the Texas leftovers they currently thrive on.
December 4th, 2021 at 4:01 PM ^
Hopefully that will screw up Ohio State's Texas pipeline a little bit more.
December 4th, 2021 at 3:42 PM ^
I was kinda hoping to play Oklahoma State if we ended up in the playoffs. Seeing a Big12 team score 3 points when they play a real defense would be fun as hell
December 4th, 2021 at 3:43 PM ^
Now that Baylor has to get NY6 slot, does that push MSU out?
December 4th, 2021 at 3:46 PM ^
Whatever else happens we just need to take care of business. Leave no doubt. Take the bull by the horns. Just win baby.
December 4th, 2021 at 3:49 PM ^
Baylor should be in over ND
December 4th, 2021 at 3:52 PM ^
As much as I despise Notre Dame, there is no way they keep them out over a 2 loss Baylor team
Okie State losing really screwed up the picture
If Cincy loses, watch them try to campaign for Ohio St to make the CFP
Need Cincy to win their game
December 4th, 2021 at 3:58 PM ^
Agreed. If Cinci and Alabama lose today, I would bet that Ohio St gets in. Makes me sick to even think about, all anyone has talked about until one week ago was OSUs "best offense ever in the history of everything"
December 4th, 2021 at 4:03 PM ^
I hadn’t even really thought about it until today .. that would be a nightmare
December 4th, 2021 at 4:12 PM ^
The question for me is, would that scenario also be enough to get ND into the playoff? Who would they put ahead of ND? To me, the only viable option would be Alabama. I think we really need Cincinnati to win....really bad
December 4th, 2021 at 4:13 PM ^
OSU is done. Their Oregon loss looks considerably worse now. Baylor is going to be ahead of them now after sweeping the Oklahoma schools and winning a conference title.
ND has a shot though.
December 4th, 2021 at 4:17 PM ^
I hope you are right. I feel like it would take some of the sweetness away from the season if OSU somehow backed its way in
December 4th, 2021 at 4:38 PM ^
Yeah you’re right, and I guess if the worst case scenario played out, you’d still have to put a 2 loss Baylor big 12 champ in over OSU. Say your prayers!
December 4th, 2021 at 3:58 PM ^
Beat Iowa!
December 4th, 2021 at 4:05 PM ^
Okie State needs to commit seppuku for not punching the ball in on the last two drives
December 4th, 2021 at 4:10 PM ^
It seems that one of the divine laws of football is that a team that passes the ball on the one-yard line to win a game will not get it. It happened to the Seahawks in that one Super Bowl, to IU against us in that overtime game a few years back, and now OKSU on 3rd and goal today. If you can't get that one yard by plunging forward, you're not going to win.
December 4th, 2021 at 4:40 PM ^
Worst part about Oklahoma State losing is we wouldn't get to play them in a theoretical 2-3 game. They're not that good
December 4th, 2021 at 4:51 PM ^
The whole "Power 5" thing needs to be thrown right out the window. There is currently nothing about the ACC, Big 12, or Pac 12 that makes their champion inherently more worthy of a playoff spot than some other conferences out there.
December 4th, 2021 at 7:38 PM ^
Right?
These days it's basically the B1G and the SEC with a pretty big dropoff to the next three conferences you mentioned.
