OT: the best show on television...
Also logged in to say Always Sunny.
"The D.E.N.N.I.S. System" hooked me and I can't let go. I have almost pissed myself laughing several times every season.
This is one of the few current shows I actually still look forward to watching.
Others, like The Walking Dead, are kind of out of habit and loyalty rather than really desiring to watch.
Walking Dead is hilariously cheeseball bad. It has turned into one of my favorite comedies. Funny or Die has hilarious recaps each week.
show is in a precarious position right now. Negan threw it a life line and made it engaging for periods again, now the problem is that the outlandishness of his evil has rendered the zombie peril inane and unthreatening by contrast. I know why they played the Negan hand the way that the did because the quality of the show had been declining for some time and they needed a spark, but I don't know if they are going to have a show to return to after his arc runs its useful course. The most recent episode was a very, very bad sign for the long term future of the show.
I watch it for shits and giggles now. I had missed most of this season, but caught the ep where Rick and gang meet the Trash people, and my God it was bad. But I was entertained in a watching a trainwreck kind of way.
I also enjoy The Blacklist. James Spader is excellent as Raymond Reddigton. It resumes April 20th after taking a hiatus for Blacklist: Redemption.
...is such a guilty pleasure. The show is SOOOOO ridiculous but I watch it anyway. I'm a Spader slappy. Loved him and Shatner in Boston Legal.
No doubt....
I fell off after the break in season 2 around the holidays. Has the quality dropped off? I have not enjoyed this 2nd season nearly as much as the first.
LAW R UP!
South Park
Game of Thrones is pretty much the best shows, but Westworld and Stranger Things are two of the best new shows around. Rick and Morty for the best animated show.
Better Call Saul isn't back for another month though...
You only get Showtime I guess?
SAD!
...what about The Wire? Or, somewhat more obscurely, what about Luther?
I really like Legion too, and I am usually don't do comic book stuff.
Breaking Bad
Legion (so far - pilot was excellent rest of the season has been very good)
Westworld
Atlanta
Stranger Things
Honorable mention
Luke Cage
Without spoiling season 2 seems like it has to be pretty different than 1. I hope it doesn't become overly action oriented. Its not a brainy show, but I like a little something even though its not the point.
Season 2: Exact same plot with new characters set in Samurai World.
I agree with you. It seems like it has to be at least somewhat more action- and direct conflict-driven, but hoping they zoom out on the broader world a bit more to keep it layered (or accomplish that in another way).
After the amazing Person of Interest, the scripts that he has written for his brother, and season 1, I trust anything Jonathan Nolan brings to the table.
It's a very good show. The wife loves it. It is very emotional and a tear jerker. I would call it emotionally deep, but it's not a show that makes me think like a Westworld. I wouldn't recommend it, because if I was single, I would never watch this show in a million years.
I think each season has been better than the previous. Great show.
You should try it sometime.
Absolutely love that show.
Besides Bojack Horseman, there are some pretty good animated shows out there:
Archer
Rick and Morty
The Venture Brothers
Venture Brothers is one of my all time favorite shows, but the 1 new season every 3 years is kind of a pain in the ass.
Just getting into Rick and Morty, really enjoying that one. Shout out to Bob's Burgers as well for being a great animated show.
Its been a while, IMO, since a great show was on TV. Breaking Bad and Mad Men were so good and nothing has come close to matching their quality. Before that take your pick from anything from HBO.
I like GOT but IMO not a great show. Westworld is probably the most interesting show since Breaking Bad but would like to see a second season before calling it a great show.
I'd like to see a third season of True Detective even though #2 was truly awful.
Fargo since it hasn't been mentioned yet. Check out the new season 3 promo. Ewan Macgregor is barely recognizable. But also Sunny, Silicon Valley, Westworld, GoT, Rick and Morty, and Family Guy. Need to start/finish Ray Donavan, Taboo, Legion and Preacher.
Goliath with Billy Bob!
Anyone else watch Transparent? I am a fan.
Fargo with Billy Bob!
