Good luck in the future, big fella! We will not forget you! He's one of nine Bama players entering the portal. LINK.

Yes - that’s true.  But, they only have twelve (12) four or five star OL.

Listening to their fans - it sounds like Bama has far less talent on their roster than what they are accustomed to.

Let me check - hmmm, Bama only has the most talented roster - again.  As they’ve had for seven of the last nine seasons.

Coaching, development, and game plan - scheme.   Which team did it better in the Rose Bowl?

I read an article stating they this Alabama-coached team this year was (according strictly to recruiting sites) the second most talented team of the modern era (not sure who number one is). The average recruiting profile of their players, across the whole team, was being a top-100 player.

Not just with one position group. Not just with skill players. The whole freaking team average.

Alabama has as much talent this year as it’s ever had under Saban. Their issue this year was that it couldn’t put it all together in any position group save for its secondary and DEs. Milroe definitely came along as the season went, but it sure seemed like everyone else just stayed the same and was nothing special.

I'm more interested in the other players mentioned in that article who are transferring, especially Eli Holstein. Top 100 QB in last year's class, looks like he can run a little bit, and as a freshman the transfer shouldn't be an issue.

It's probably a pipe dream since he's from Louisiana but if JJ decides to go, Michigan should definitely check in with him.

I doubt that was 100% voluntary. He was either encouraged to start looking elsewhere, or he was flat out terrified to show his face on campus this week.

He might need a fresh start anyway, because he's been having trouble with the snap all year. Appears to be a feature of his game and not a bug, but maybe a new place will get him back on track.

Truthfully I'm surprised Alabama didn't have some five star or high four star waiting in the wings who they didn't trust could come in and do at least as good as him, without having issues handling snaps.

Not going to say the young man had a good game, and this may seem out there, but I sensed bad chemistry between him and Milroe, especially the way Milroe reacted to each bad or less than perfect snap, sometimes with what seemed like a bit of a tantrum.

To be fair, Milroe has a bit of a right to be pissed about the bad snaps.

This isn’t a situation where it happened for just one game and you can chalk it up to “Hey, my center had a bad game, I’ve had bad games too, it happens.” It’s been a season-long problem, and while it hasn’t been Alabama’s only problem, it’s cost them big time in big moments.

If they happen in the first game or two of the season, then so be it. It happens. Everyone’s a little rusty to start the season. At this point in the season, on a Nick Saban coached team, those problems should be non-existent. So I don’t blame Milroe for being mad, if he was mad at all.

Here's the thing. They've had trouble with the snaps all season long, and yet there he is starting in the most important games of the season such as the SEC title game and the CFP semifinal on one of the top teams in college football. It's not like the dude's playing on a team for a high school that barely has enough boys to put a team together. It's Alabama. That tells me that the coaches figured that (1) he's a good player otherwise and (2) the issue wasn't entirely one-sided on McLaughlin's part.

But there's also the simple reality that if the coaches have to choose between a center and a QB because they have issues with the snap then they're going to take the QB. It's like in baseball when your star pitcher somehow can't get on the same page with your catcher. Well you're gonna have a new catcher that the pitcher likes.
