He’s the 6th recruit to ever receive a 1.000 rating from 24/7… along with Rashan Gary, Jadaveon Clowney, Ernie Sims, Vince Young, and Robert Nkemdiche. He’s guaranteed to be a 1st round pick and is the highest rated QB prospect of this century. But sure, let’s take mgojohnnys word on it

I wonder if he feels like skipping his last year to get in on the NIL stuff earlier was worth it?

Not ragging on the kid, actually wondering. What a strange start to his career

The part people aren't realizing is that he has received NOTHING yet and did not get paid. He did receive a free LEASED car which is now going back. And according to his $1.4 million agreement with GT Sports Marketing out of NJ, he has to start 8 games by the end of the 2022 to even qualify for the huge money. Obviously, that wasn't going to happen at OSU so he bolted. He's 3rd going into the Spring behind Stroud and McCord. Just another hot shot kid that thought he was going to come in and light it up. He was having a very hard time especially after Day said he was nowhere near ready for college football. He never threw a pass at OSU

look at it this way, Ewers just collected six (possibly seven) figures in NIL money to train and practice in a world class setting for 3 months instead of attending high school. Dude basically got paid to go to NFL vocational camp for his senior project and now transfers back home better and richer with a full 4 years of eligibility. Doubt he regrets it - gamed the system.

Uh, you don't know all of the facts....neither did I until I found this on another board about Ewers NIL deal. Ewers hasn't received anything from the NJ based company and is in danger of not getting anything

Apparently the story is this and I'm just transferring the info I read - actually on a PSU board

Ewers signed a million dollar NIL deal with a kombucha company.  However, the company has a provision stating that Ewers MUST start X number of games by the 2022 season.  When it became clear that Stroud was the man and no way Ewers was going to pass him -- and wasn't even guaranteed he'd pass up Kyle McCord -- Ewers bolted.  Apparently Ewers even asked for that guarantee and was told no

Multiple sources claiming this.

So, in reality, he has to start next year or lose everything, Just another hot shot HS kid that thought he'd come in and light everything up when he got to OSU and found out differently

This is going to change the NIL/transfer paradigm quite a bit. It's one thing for a big-headed kid to selfishly demand playing time, it's another thing when there are seven figures on the line for it. Could spread some of the top-end talent around if more of the top-end talent signs deals like this, though it'll feel pretty grimy if guys are known to be playing for those non-top-five teams just because they can start there.

So Ewers is going to go somewhere where he's a sure starter. Probably needs to be a bit of a name still. Should be interesting.

Agree, and you can bet that any team that this kid plays for - and is guarantees starting - will just have friction and resentment on their roster.  Just have to wonder if that was the case on the OSU roster this year with Ewers. If you read some of the OSU boards, it seems many of their fans aren't really all that upset about the transfer and I have a hunch that the ridiculous contract was a big part of it.
