I've said this before, but if Corum wasn't a damn Heisman worthy player, Olu is the offensive MVP.
He won't have the longevity, but he's the best center in Michigan football history (in terms if the best player). He's that good.
He's like David Molk combined with Steve Hutchinson. I've never seen anything like it.

Olu has some incredible physical gifts. He is also incredibly intelligent.
Being the center, he's one of the brightest football minds on the team, and imagine the fact that he downloaded an entirely new offense in 1 off-season.
Generally only the QB and center are required to understand the nuances, counts, pickups, audibles, and all the permutations the defense can run at you on any given play.
Olu is a phenom
December 8th, 2022 at 9:19 PM ^
Exactly.
He's smart like Vastardis...one of the smartest centers to ever play at Michigan. He wasn't the most talented, but he knew more than everyone else on the field (RIP to his... "notice defense offsides - quick snap and point").
He's mobile like Molk. An undersized center who used it to his advantage with leverage and agility to get around DTs.
He's strong like Hutchinson. He can just maul you if he wants.
That's why to me, if you're not looking at career numbers, which he obviously won't have...but if you just say "who is the best PLAYER to play Center at Michigan?"
Olu Oluwatimi is the answer. The guy has it all. And he's a great leader on top of all of that. Absolutely incredible.

As my nephew would say…….he is certified lit. I cannot tell you exactly what that means but he always says it as a good thing.

As my crazy grandpa who’s in a cult would say, he’s “streets ahead”.
December 8th, 2022 at 7:58 PM ^

Congrats Olu! As a UVA and Michigan dad got to see you play at both schools.
Also pretty cool that both Michigan centers went to DeMatha.

Olu should get the heisman.
December 8th, 2022 at 8:27 PM ^
I do think a strong case can be made.
December 8th, 2022 at 8:41 PM ^
We had lineman get hurt, Corum go down, and nothing slowed the inevitable crushing. That was the Olu effect.
December 8th, 2022 at 8:20 PM ^
Hell yes, Go Blue!!
December 8th, 2022 at 8:24 PM ^

Looking forward to seeing him get drafted early and then have a nice, long and successful NFL carreer. The kid made an excelllent choice in coming back for a year and selecting Michigan. Happy for the young man and his family! What an awesome achievement.

Centers are usually in high regard on draft day, right after LT.
This guy is a God-send and wonderful person!
Make him a bowl team captain, please.

Well-deserved on both counts. Arguably the best Michigan lineman I remember watching, at least since Jake Long
December 8th, 2022 at 8:57 PM ^
Good to see Olu be the Center of attention
December 9th, 2022 at 9:31 AM ^

A tip of the hat to the MGoStaff for helping me understand and appreciate the art of Olu.
December 8th, 2022 at 9:30 PM ^
He's going to get paid, no doubt.
December 8th, 2022 at 9:51 PM ^
Here's the explanation for him winning, as explained by the Football Writers Association of America. Not much that most of aren't already familiar with, but it's nice to hear others talk about our excellence.

And here's the text of the announcement on the Rimington, awarded by the Rimington Trophy. Nice quote from Sherone.

Congratulations, Olu! Thank you for selecting Michigan.
December 8th, 2022 at 10:08 PM ^
Wow! Dude is a fucking beast. So happy for him! So glad he decided to be a part of this team!
December 8th, 2022 at 10:15 PM ^
Love to see our maize and blue boys get the respect they deserve. Now time for Olu to show TCU why they chose him for the award and time for the Michigan Wolverines to show TCU what a road grating defensive line looks like. Go Blue!
December 8th, 2022 at 11:02 PM ^
Stay at Michigan (please!) and win these two years in a row.
December 8th, 2022 at 11:14 PM ^
Watched a few pressers of his, what an outstanding young man in addition to being a top flight football player
December 9th, 2022 at 8:12 AM ^
Is he the first player ever to win both? Or did the winner of 2005 win both, too?
December 9th, 2022 at 8:26 AM ^
Rimington Trophy first awarded in 2000, the Outland dates back to the 40s. Looks like Olu is only the fifth center to win the Outland.
Greg Roberts Okla 1978
Jim Ritcher NC State 1979
Dave Rimington Neb 81 and 82
Greg Eslinger Minn 2005

Congratulations to Olu! A difference maker who took our line beyond greatness! Go Blue!
