I think you're referring to UM fans who are expressing a degree of admiration for OSU's team/staff that it seems impossible that they're not "closet OSU fans," as opposed to "out and proud," as it were, Buckeye fans, of which I am pretty clearly one. (I can also assure you that as an out and proud lesbian, I'm really not looking for dicks, famous or not.) But if you are referring to actual Buckeye backers who are on this board (and I'm on a few BIG sites), I hope that I've been respectful in my discussions. If not, please let me know and I'll either change or peace-out. I was drawn to this thread b/c it was specifically addressing OSU's defense, something of which I'm thankfully not terrified of this year.

I'm seeing this too. So much "closet coveting" going on in here it makes me sick. Fuck osu
October 26th, 2019 at 1:22 PM ^
His 3rd mistake was misquoting what the announcer actually said.
He said 5 stars "at every level" of the defense.
October 26th, 2019 at 12:41 PM ^
This post is turrible. You should fell bad.
October 26th, 2019 at 12:43 PM ^
Please don’t ever post again
October 26th, 2019 at 12:45 PM ^
Not really, but it averages out that way with their six and seven stars.
October 26th, 2019 at 12:46 PM ^
And people will say stars don’t matter, just look at Wisconsin. The Difference is Wisconsin has years to develop talent.
October 26th, 2019 at 12:50 PM ^
I rue rhe day they started recruiting services and star rankings. Endlessly banal posts about “stars”.
October 26th, 2019 at 1:18 PM ^
After seeing us land elite talent and fail to develop most of it, I’ve completely stopped paying attention to recruiting. Recruitin’ posts used to be my favorite, now I can’t read them.
October 26th, 2019 at 1:22 PM ^
Yep. Even when we land highly ranked kids they rarely turn into anything epically.
October 26th, 2019 at 1:57 PM ^
This has been our single biggest problem since the late Lloyd years. Piss poor development of the talent that IS on the roster. We get highly rated and talented recruits and they stagnate (on average) or transfer out altogether.
October 26th, 2019 at 4:30 PM ^
I agree. Obviously, recruiting is beyond huge. (Pat Summit's father told her, after they lost the first NC game she coached, that you can't win the Kentucky Derby with mules.) But the star system lends itself to a shorthand that, I think, gets over-used. Heck, I'm not even sure how the stars are decided.
October 26th, 2019 at 12:49 PM ^
I don't really follow ohio recruiting but they seem pretty talented to me.
October 26th, 2019 at 1:06 PM ^
Ohio not so much, but Ohio State on the other hand.....
October 26th, 2019 at 1:23 PM ^
Go away.
October 26th, 2019 at 12:51 PM ^
You can already see the effect of Mattison on this defense
October 26th, 2019 at 12:52 PM ^
What if it isn’t true and instead there’s two 3 stars? That means they are bad right?
October 26th, 2019 at 12:52 PM ^
Chase Young is what we all thought/hoped Rashan Gary was going to be.
October 26th, 2019 at 12:57 PM ^
Gary was another in the long list of 5 star busts we’ve had
October 26th, 2019 at 1:02 PM ^
Troll.
October 26th, 2019 at 1:05 PM ^
Truth hurts, name me one dominant game Gary against a big time opponent
October 26th, 2019 at 1:22 PM ^
Busts don't get drafted in the first round.
October 26th, 2019 at 1:25 PM ^
Combine freaks do though, which is all Gary is
Again, tell me of the dominate games he had here I’ll wait. He was the #1 player in the nation coming out and was half the player Winovich was here.
October 26th, 2019 at 1:36 PM ^
Gary had 9.5 sacks in his CAREER at Michigan and 6.5 of those were against Rutgers and Indiana
October 26th, 2019 at 1:36 PM ^
Wouldn’t say bust but he never reached the level Young has.
Why are so many supposed intelligent adults unable to operate in the middle of the two extremes? Why do we always have to run 100mph in one direction or another?
Fucking idiots.
October 26th, 2019 at 4:08 PM ^
Good heavens, Sir or Madam, what you're proposing is nothing short of apostasy! Evaluating an athlete's or team's performance with nuance? Considering context? Operating comfortably within the gray zone?!? This is athletics! Like politics, it must be discussed with unyielding polemics and sneering contempt for anyone whose opinion differs from yours.
"Operate in the middle of the two extremes," indeed...
October 26th, 2019 at 12:53 PM ^
No but they are significantly ahead of us this year in team talent. It’s the widest gap of the Harbaugh era. Closest was 2016.

October 26th, 2019 at 12:59 PM ^
Yeah it's depressing to watch how good they are :(
October 26th, 2019 at 1:04 PM ^
Harbaugh has less 4 stars on the roster than James Franklin lol
October 26th, 2019 at 2:29 PM ^
Yep I don't want to hear shit from people about Harbaugh being an underachiever or a failure for not beating OSU.
If people wanna see what underachieving looks like they can look to Florida State and USC. Michigan performs at a level commensurate with their talent the vast majority of the time.
October 26th, 2019 at 12:56 PM ^
The rain gives Wisconsin the advantage. I hope it rains even harder.
October 26th, 2019 at 1:17 PM ^
Does it really give them an advantage? It makes a one dimensional team even more one dimensional.
October 26th, 2019 at 1:27 PM ^
It limits OSU’s ability to use their superior athleticism and speed. Makes it a game fought on the ground and in the trenches. Which favors Wisconsin more than a game in normal conditions.
it isn’t just that the weather makes Wisconsin more one dimensional, it limits OSU’s ability to use their major advantage.
October 26th, 2019 at 1:32 PM ^
Agee that it limits their speed and athleticism somewhat, but I think the OSU OLine and run game is > WI OLine and run game.
October 26th, 2019 at 1:41 PM ^
Most of OSU’s run game is based on getting in space and using that superior speed and athleticism, hence his “I hope it rains harder,” comment.
I wouldn’t say OSU’s run game and OL are “better” either, I just think their defense is that good. That’s a boatload of defensive talent that can key in solely on Taylor.
Simply put, the best case for Wisconsin this game was that it became a slugfest in the trenches. OSU has been limited in the use of their speed and athleticism because of the weather, but it isn’t completely eliminated.
October 26th, 2019 at 1:45 PM ^
You’re right, the best chance for WI is a slugfest. Agree and concede, I still see a slugfest going to OSU.

New 10,000 point minimum to start a thread...
Not gonna get it from the actual site, but how about the extension add the ability to customize which threads you have to put up with by setting your own minimum point count?
October 26th, 2019 at 1:07 PM ^
Why dont you just not go into thread if you are gonna be a little bitch?
October 26th, 2019 at 1:25 PM ^
“Which threads you have to put up with.” Nobody makes you click on a thread, read it, and comment on it.
October 26th, 2019 at 1:12 PM ^
Compare Chase Young to Rashan Gary.
October 26th, 2019 at 1:24 PM ^
Play two different positions. Gary played Anchor, whose job is to set the edge and allow you to bring pressure from other areas. Gary also has a solid 40 lbs on Young. Young is a pure pass rushing end. You’d be better off comparing Young to Winovich, as their positions and styles are more comparable.
October 26th, 2019 at 1:40 PM ^
FWIW Gary and Young are virtually the same size. Both are 6’5”, Gary was listed at 278, Young at 265. I assumed Gary was bigger too until the comment made me google it. Young plays fast for a guy at 265
October 26th, 2019 at 1:50 PM ^
Gary was lasted at 283 last year. That’s a 20 lb difference. Maybe not 40 lbs like I assumed, but That’s not “virtually the same size.” That’s the difference between being a linebacker and a WDE. A WDE and a SDE. A SDE and a DT.

October 26th, 2019 at 2:52 PM ^
Wow, that's a deep cut.
October 26th, 2019 at 1:21 PM ^
Every level, not every position. That’s possible with only three 5* players. For comparisons sake, when Michigan has Hinton and Dax on the field at the same time, we have 5* at two of the three levels.
October 26th, 2019 at 1:26 PM ^
They have Mattison
October 26th, 2019 at 1:28 PM ^
He said 5 star douchebags at every position
