Ohio is pretty flat. Hillbilly is definitely a misnomer unless they're talking about the southeast where nobody lives. Personally, I prefer to call them "hicks."

I especially like my dictionary's definitions of the word:

(noun): a person who is not very intelligent or interested in culture

(adj): awkwardly simple and provincial

Definition of pun: a joke exploiting the different possible meanings of a word or the fact that there are words which sound alike but have different meanings. 'the pigs were a squeal (if you'll forgive the pun)' "

Definition of stones:

stones

noun - plural

  1. bravado, courage; "guts"
  2. testicles

Thus Whitmer has no stones (guts or testicles)

What do they teach you in AA anyhow?

I think it's impossible for a lot of people. Judging from their boards, they just can't cope with the loss.  Osu is too important in their own mental make up and self esteem.  They also think that the conference revolves around them.  Well... guess what osu fans. There's one team that has that kind of clout.  And osu will be riding the pine until it decides otherwise.

Speaking of hillbillies, in Ohio we always looked with disdain toward most Michigan fans we encountered because they really did seem like they had 1 too many chromosomes. We called them "Michigan hillbilllies." Then I arrive on this board only to learn you have your own moniker for them, the "Walmart Wolverines" I believe you call them.

Seriously though, it is nice to finally feel some comraderie toward Wolverine fans, albeit it is only those who want a season. It is hard to relate to hyper risk averse fans on here, but then again, that is what I always imagined Wolverine fans were like. Nice to know some of you have grit, common sense and love football.

Sadly though it is those wobbly, soft-in-the-middle Michigan fans who will probably get what they want. They would rather not play, knowing it wounds OSU and our title chances rather than taking a chance to beat us on our field. You win smug Michigan fan, you win. You get your year reprieve from an OSU beating.

Wow man, OSU fans really are mentally ill. I say that as someone with multiple family members suffering from severe mental health issues.

The unhealthy emotional attachment to your football team, the hot/cold relationship with players (one minute you love them, the next minute you feel hatred and resentment, and there is no in between), the dehumanizing of the players and coaches. On top of that, there is clearly delusions of grandeur, peojection, and an inability to discern reality from your fantasies. It all points toward classic psychological distress, likely a personality disorder.

From one human being to (presumably) another, take care of yourself. These are stressful times.

Couldn't have said it any better myself... the smuggery on this board has reached an all time high. I would love it if Michigan fans took football as seriously as Ohioans did, but "they have more important things going on in their lives". But here they are, day in and day out posting on this board. So it would seem football is pretty important to them? Or do they just like to look cool talking down on OSU fans or people from Ohio in general...

You’d think on a UM sports blog, people would be more positive towards any event that would assist our team getting onto the field with the rest of the P5 - the P12.   Whether the vocal voices are coronabros or a broken fanbase, who knows....but UM should be taking the field in Oct.

I don't understand it either.  There was a comment on the board a few days ago that some guy, while disappointed football was cancelled, was enjoying and entertained by all the people fighting the Big10 administration to save the season.  I get the schadenfreude when OSU loses.  I cannot understand the psychology of deriving joy and entertainment from people feeling real loss from the cancellation of a sport.  For a lot of people, football season isn't just watching Rutgers get annihilated every Saturday, it's a chance for a reunion, a chance for reminiscing, and an escape for some who might be going through a down period in their lives.

I sympathize with the opinions of those who believe football should have been cancelled.  I disagree with it, but certainly understand that viewpoint.  I don't understand the mockery and faux intellectual superiority of some on the board (and elsewhere) who talk like anyone believing football can go on is a simpleton.

1.  more than half of the posts on this board are about Football...I believe that means that most people here are somewhat fanatic about football.

2.  tOSU has a case.  The B1G could have told member schools who still want to play, that they could join another conference for a year in order to play.  The B1G decided to hold their ground and not allow it's member schools to mitigate the gigantic loss to their athletic departments.

it would have been no skin off their backs, other than the embarrassment if a school could do it successfully.

That is a concern particularly when you have a narcissistic amoral asshole as the executive.  In theory though the voters are much more informed about what the executive is up to as opposed to a state attorney general who probably 95% of the voters can’t even name in most states.  This leads to the state attorney general acting like a used car salesman to get attention and votes which is not great either.

This is the one silver lining I can take in all of this season cancellation madness. Watching the entire state of Ohio suffer and wallow in misery, as something finally didn’t go their football team’s way for the first time in 20 years, and they have no idea how to handle not getting their way.

They have to sit on the sidelines with a stacked team and just do nothing but watch others play. Don’t get me wrong, I’d much rather play than not, Even if it means losing to OSU again, but at least there is a small benefit to this all happening.
