Colorado will be dreadful this year. The team has no talent, aside from 3-4 possibly elite players, and shockingly few scholarship players. Deion's recruiting has been disappointing. (Current rank 53rd.) Being terrible will not help next year's recruiting. I could see him flaming out in 2 years.

And if I'm wrong and he succeeds, he'll leave for greener pastures in 2 years.

Either way, CU won't move the needle for a conference in the long run.

Let’s do Big Ten East, Central, & West. Leave the last week open so each division leader and 1 wildcard team (until we start plucking southern teams) play for a spot in the Championship. The rest of the teams can draw last game opponents.

Arizona, ASU, and Utah. Oregon and Washington to the B1G. Cal and Stanford a bit in limbo but they probably could get an offer from the B1G. Oregon St and Wazzou to the MWC

Everyone complaining about rumors of Oregon & Washington joining the B1G...realize this is what happens when we picked up the LA schools. That effectively signaled the end of the Pac12.

Bringing in OU & UW would give the LA schools 2 more regional games each year, and allow B1G basketball/baseball teams to do a week long road trip out West. Win win.

This probably isn't the case.

USC has made it clear they don't want more PAC schools, and they don't want to give Oregon, in particular, access to Southern California football recruits.  USC wants Big Ten membership to be a differentiator vs other PAC schools.

Big Ten presidents are ok with one trip to the West Coast every other year for most sports, but adding Oregon/Washington doubles that number.  Presidents don't appear to be interested.

Finally, LA to Oregon/Washington is about the same as to Nebraska.  It really doesn't help LA schools with travel.  If travel is a concern, or the LA schools want to add someone, the "regional" schools for USC/UCLA are Arizona State/Arizona and Stanford/Cal.

I get your sentiment, but that's not how it's going to work.

USC is new --- but they are a national brand with tons of $$$ in a huge market.  They will be a B1G power player from Day 1.  They aren't Rutgers or Maryland (or Nebraska either, for that matter).

USC doesn't get to "dictate", but their opinion on future direction will matter.

The Big12 should offer SDSU and then pull the rug out at the last moment to create more drama between the MW and SDSU.

In all seriousness, I wonder if SDSU waited on the PAC 12 to try and get in the B12.

They'll never do it because of the money but I really feel like Nebraska should be joining CU in the Big 12 as well.

My guess is Memphis will join the Big 12 and SDSU will ultimately wind up in the Pac 12 along with a school like Boise.  But it is pretty incredible seeing the Pac-12 getting worked over like this.

It feels to me like the main difference between the Pac-12 and Big 12 has been that the latter has been ultra-aggressive, to the point of obnoxiousness, in trying to survive without its two big football brands while the Pac has basically sat around holding its dick.

I think it just proves that basically in this march to professional college football, you're either in or you're out. Those who want it more will always beat out those who try to half-ass it i.e. the hyper-motivated cow colleges of the Big 12 beat out the only mildly interested elite unis out West.

My guess is that the PAC-12 is on life support.

I don't think the SEC is interested in any PAC teams, but there's the Big 12 looking to take 1-3 more. If this comes to fruition, I'm assuming it would go for Utah first, followed by the two Arizona schools.

Now the Oregon/Washington to B1G talk may accelerate, but what I REALLY think could happen is the B1G/SEC starting to raid the ACC. FSU and Miami seem like SEC naturals, but if the B1G's intention is to truly be a national conference... there's your starting point.

And in spite of it all, I'd miss the early-90s landscape when everyone played to win their conference and play on January 1st. Thank God for the College Football Playoff huh? How else would we have known the SEC has the best team four out of every five years??

I don’t think Oregon and Washington joining the Big 12 precludes them from eventually joining the Big Ten if there’s a better offer (though exit fees etc. would have to be considered and it depends on how media rights shake out and such).

In my mind, it’s Arizona, Arizona State, and Utah to the Big 12.

Washington and Oregon to the Big Ten.

Cal, Stanford, Oregon State, and Washington State merge with the Mountain West into a new conference?

Notre Dame still has access to the CFP without being in a conference so I suspect that they will remain independent in football and continue their agreement with the ACC, unless the ACC blows up.

While Washington and Oregon are the obvious choice, it would not surprise me to see Utah and both Arizona schools jump at the opportunity to jump the sinking Titanic (PAC12) onto the life boat (BIG12).

Right now, it appears there is some high stakes poker going on right now....

The BIG TEN does not "really" want Washington and Oregon because they would cut into everyone else's TV $$$$.  However, with limited marketable teams available right now, they are the most preferred.  And now with 2 conferences (presuming the BIG TEN is still looking to expand) that are actively pursuing to add teams, there is a slight advantage for Washington / Oregon.

From Washington / Oregon point of view, this is their best chance to get the best deal for themselves as there are 2 conferences presumably courting them (although the BIG TEN has been rather stand offish).  They will wind up in either the BIG TEN or the BIG 12 for the 2024 season.

Utah, Arizona, and Arizona State is a third party here that now wants to jump ship from the Titanic (PAC12) and will be anxious to get the BIG 12 attention / invite...

The rest of the PAC 12 will be a dying corpse that will either have to go independent or "boost" the MWC

And the ACC team (the presumed top 7) are going to get more anxious to somehow break the ESPN contract as spots are filling up and they lose what little leverage they have when talking to the BIG TEN / SEC...

As for ND, I hope they continue to arrogantly stand off and wind up being the last team without a chair (conference) and get frozen out of future CFB playoffs (ie none of the conference teams agree to play them because of their arrogance) and they wind up having to play a bunch of MWC / MAC / Conference USA teams... And then NBC dumps them...

"The BIG TEN does not "really" want Washington and Oregon because they would cut into everyone else's TV $$$$. "

This is what I see as the sticking point to bringing them on. Michigan, tOSU, and Penn State are national brands and would see much benefit from more exposure - especially in Seattle. Wisconsin might eventually rise to that tier. USC and UCLA bring benefits with them. But other schools in the B1G (Illinois, MSU, Minnesota, Purdue, Indiana, NW, and the recent entrants in Maryland, Rutgers, and Nebraska) all draft off the leaders. They want and need those TV dollars, don't have the national followings to draw ratings on their own, and have little incentive to scrape some off $ for the Ducks and Huskies. And unanimity among the chancellors/presidents of all the schools is needed to bring on Oregon and Washington.

You wanna force ND on this issue:

Should of forced NBC not to be allowed to sign ND as part of taking the B1G contract. Same with Fox and CBS. This would of forced ND to ABC/ Espn or get nothing basically.

They wanna join the ACC let them. Force them to go to ABC but than their stuck playing ACC scheudle and maybe this makes thre ACC give ND an Ulimatum on football.

Kick them out of the B1G for Hockey. Have 2 B1G schools add hockey unless you add lets say Boston College and somebody else who has hockey to the B1g which i doubt. Honestly, i don't think ND adds much hockeywise to the conference . Maybe a tad to SOS but besides that what does it do for the B1G to have ND as a single team. John Hopkins is the same for Lacrosse but it adds alot more value La Crosse wise and does not deal with football.

Forbid all B1G teams including USC and UCLA incoming not to be allowed to play ND in football unless ND becomes member of B1G, besides bowl games.

Tell indiana and Nw and purdue and MSU to do do and if we have to cancel the 2033/34 games with ND than so be it along with USc and their annual rivalry. Same with Wisconsin but ND owes wisconsin a game at Lambeau still so let Wisconsin have that.

That solves that issue with ND

Why doesn’t the BIG just merge/take over the ACC? The media partners could agree and it would be a win win until the ACC current media bad deal expires.
