From the NY Times: How Fielding H Yost Busted ohio state 100 Years Ago

Great article (likely paywalled, though) about how Coach Yost further fueled the Michigan vs osu rivalry 100 years ago.  Yost was informed by letter of the likely ineligibility of the new buckeye QB and set in motion an investigation.

Century-Old Letters Add New Twist to Michigan-Ohio State Rivalry https://nyti.ms/3OwRXbJ

As a result, QB 'Dopey' Workman was declared ineligible just before the start of the 1922 season.  Michigan then went on to shut out ohio state at the HorseToiletBowl in that stadium's inaugural season.

Interesting. I knew we won The Game in the horseshoe’s inaugural season, but didn’t know that background. Always love to learn more about this rivalry. It goes so deep and there’s always something new I haven’t heard of yet that makes The Game the best rivalry, India/Pakistan be damned.

Exactly.

NK wants a seat at the big boys table but despite all their saber rattling, nobody really takes them seriously.

Just yesterday Kim Jong Un's sister threatened the US with more fire and brimstone.  Which is more fire and brimstone than the last time she ran her mouth on the topic... and the time before that... and the time before that.

Just remember the role of objective officiating.   I recall several instances at the Shoe.  Drug sniffing dogs going through the entire Michigan corps of players and staff - I believe, prior to the 2006 game.

And, with Coach Harbaugh - having an official call an infraction on Jim when he tossed his playsheet.  The official said - (I'm paraphrasing) - "I referee basketball games all the time, and in basketball, that's a foul."   The only concern I had with that was - Michigan was playing the Buckeyes in football, not basketball.

Let's hope the officiating crew calls it relatively even both ways.

rewatched it, the sideline referee DOES slap an OSU players ass : r/MichiganWolverines

Here's a link to an article about the officiating from the 2016 game.  It's an interesting link:  https://www.sbnation.com/college-football/2016/12/25/14078044/ohio-state-michigan-referees-game-2016

A couple of videos imbedded in that link are:

In the above - no infractions were flagged, or called by the officials.  Interestingly enough, Weber - who received the "butt pat" from one of the officials - had the hit in the second gif.

The game was so lopsided that Buckeyes fans began heading for the exits in the third quarter, abandoning their new edifice to delirious Michigan supporters. Ohio State alumni “pulled out their eyebrows listening to them,” The Detroit Free Press reported. The Michigan band, along with some 5,000 Wolverines fans, marched through the streets of Columbus playing their fight song, “Hail to the Victors,” according to The Lansing State Journal.

^ That would be amazing to see something like that again!
