No more "Michigan Men"
If this is what getting a "Michigan Man" is going to be like for our football games, count me out.
Get a coach who can win, regardless of their affiliation with us. I don't care what kind of offense they run. I don't care if people get mad because it's not "the Michigan style of football."
The "Michigan" style of football is to play an offense that WORKS and a defense that WORKS.
No more "Michigan Men." Let's get "FOOTBALL men."

GREAT THREAD. WHAT OTHER RANDOM THOUGHTS DO YOU HAVE?
November 14th, 2020 at 9:34 PM ^
I have one a random thought.....
Since 1927– Is this is the worst first half deficit in Michigan athletics—or just M Football?
November 14th, 2020 at 9:56 PM ^
Home deficit...
November 14th, 2020 at 9:58 PM ^
Well, there’s a good reason for playing in Columbus this year if I ever heard one.
November 14th, 2020 at 9:36 PM ^
Nobody seems to understand that situation and why Bo said it.
November 14th, 2020 at 10:14 PM ^
I know the original situation, but that's not how it's understood now. "Michigan Man" in the minds of many fans means a man with ties to Michigan.
November 15th, 2020 at 10:42 AM ^
All they have to know is Bo wasn't a Michigan man prior to being Michigan's HC. That and Frieder had already announced his departure.
That other definition of a 'Michigan Man' is just lazy.
November 14th, 2020 at 9:32 PM ^
So Zach Charbonnets dad pretty much confirmed that he’s about to transfer. Cool. Fuck you Harbaugh
November 14th, 2020 at 9:34 PM ^
Link?
Are you talking about this guy? https://twitter.com/marky77790650
He's off the deep end of rightwing conspiracy theories. I wonder if political discord has destroyed the unity of our team...
November 14th, 2020 at 9:38 PM ^
Fuck off with your “right wing” bullshit. Nothin to do w what he said.
November 14th, 2020 at 10:20 PM ^
Answer the question. Where did he say this?
November 14th, 2020 at 10:56 PM ^
On his Parler account.
November 14th, 2020 at 9:39 PM ^
Oh please. Use your head. Extremists lay at BOTH ends of the political spectrum, and neither have any bearing on what's going on right now on the gridiron tonight.
November 14th, 2020 at 10:20 PM ^
How do you know it's not affecting team unity? It's obviously affecting the blog. "Use your head."
November 14th, 2020 at 10:38 PM ^
The 2016 Iowa disaster was right after the election. Jussayin
November 14th, 2020 at 9:44 PM ^
Thanks. I was trying quite hard to think of what this evening needed and "completely pointless attempt to start political fighting" was just that.
November 14th, 2020 at 9:34 PM ^
That is 1000% worth getting rid of Jim Harbaugh and his minions.
November 14th, 2020 at 9:34 PM ^
Who could blame him. He's getting 1 carry a fucking game
November 14th, 2020 at 9:35 PM ^
Where’d you see this?
November 14th, 2020 at 10:21 PM ^
We only asked him twice by the time of his last comment. Now I've asked again, so that's three times. Maybe he'll produce a source now.
November 14th, 2020 at 9:32 PM ^
There’s a guy named Rich Rodriguez running a very innovative offense, maybe we should give him a hard look?
November 14th, 2020 at 9:40 PM ^
You mean the one that Urban Meyer basically used as a base offense to kick our tails around from 2012-2017?
Actually... I'm fine with it.
November 15th, 2020 at 12:20 AM ^
Actually, those offense are absolutely nothing alike other than they run out of a spread look. Rich Rod ran a zone scheme. The ever popular zone read on this board. While Urban had zone read in his playbook, he was a spread power scheme. Completely different.
November 15th, 2020 at 2:17 AM ^
No, Urban ran an inside zone read based offense. Ran it forever. At no point did he run a power based offense. RichRod ran a similar offense to Urban. He just never thought to recruit offensive linemen. Or runningbacks. He did get quarterbacks, but too late to save his tenure.

Only if Jim sticks around to be assistant in charge of changing his undies.

Mario Cristobal plz
November 14th, 2020 at 9:34 PM ^
This first Michigan football game I remember watching was Kordell Stewart throw the 80 yard bomb over Ty Law to Michael Westbrook to win the game. 1994. Between that time and this game tonight, I have never seen a Michigan football team look less interested in playing football than in this game right now.
The team has quit. The coaches don't have answers. This is sad.
November 14th, 2020 at 9:34 PM ^
Luke Fickell killed another opponent today. When's the last time we put up 55 points?
November 14th, 2020 at 9:36 PM ^
BUT HE ISN"T A SURE THING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
November 14th, 2020 at 9:34 PM ^
This is such a stupid argument because it infers that we only hired Harbaugh because he was a Michigan Man, and not because he is the leader in NFL career winning percentage by a coach, had recently coached in a Super Bowl, and was a slam dunk hire according to EVERYONE. You can say Hoke was a bad hire that we only got because of his Michigan ties, but to qualify or disqualify any coaching candidate based on where they have or have not coached is dumb. Should we not have gone after Tucker and Howard because of their ties? Or were we able to convince them to come to Michigan specifically because we had that connection?
November 14th, 2020 at 9:35 PM ^
At this point I don’t give a fuck who the next coach is as long as they’re not an arrogant asshole and has zero ties to the program.
November 14th, 2020 at 9:35 PM ^
Do we really need this same exact post every week?
November 14th, 2020 at 9:41 PM ^
I'm sorry, who else posted a "No More 'Michigan Men' " titled post?
November 14th, 2020 at 9:36 PM ^
The Michigan Man is dead and buried. This program has regressed back to the pre-Bo days. Time for a full reboot.
November 14th, 2020 at 9:37 PM ^
Meh, we tried Rich Rod and that didn't work either. And it's not like Harbaugh got the job because he was a Michigan man. He was an elite coach at any level. Yet again things didn't work out. I'm leaning towards the program being cursed at this point. I'm surprised so many fans are still so emotionally invested, especially with all the other 2020 shit going on.
November 14th, 2020 at 9:42 PM ^
Rich Rod had his problems, but his style of offense wasn't one of them. Meyer basically used it for his own offense in C-bus and handled us pretty well with it.
November 14th, 2020 at 9:46 PM ^
Okay. That's nice I guess. Too bad he was a complete failure overall. Regardless, that wasn't even the point of my post.
November 15th, 2020 at 12:22 AM ^
Again, no he didn’t. Spread power is a completely different scheme.
November 14th, 2020 at 9:38 PM ^
Get a coach who can win, regardless of their affiliation with us. I don't care what kind of offense they run. I don't care if people get mad because it's not "the Michigan style of football."
I'm willing to bet you're one of the cats who lauded the Hoke hire because he ran the "Michigan style of football"
November 14th, 2020 at 9:49 PM ^
Actually, no.
I was really excited about Rich Rod's offense, and wanted it to work. Problem is, Rich Rod forgot that, if you want to run a 3-3-5 defense, you should probably hire a 3-3-5 DC instead of hiring a 4-3 coach in Greg Robinson and demanding he run a system he wasn't familiar with. Why he never hired a 3-3-5 DC always boggled me; I refuse to believe that Casteel is the only DC able to run that system.
And seeing as how Urban Meyer took Rich Rod's system, tweaked it, and mopped us up with it for several years, I'd say it was a good system when the right personnel were put into place.
November 14th, 2020 at 9:48 PM ^
No more Michigan men?
Hell no, I say let’s double and triple down on Michigan men. Every coach should be a former Michigan player.
November 14th, 2020 at 9:50 PM ^
At this point it's not even about Michigan men and more about the Michigan militia inside Schembechler Hall.
November 14th, 2020 at 9:51 PM ^
I don't care if it's Terrelle Pryor, as long as he can fucking coach and recruit. Do that and you can burn the banner, never mention 'the team', and change the motto to 'those who stay weren't draftable'.
November 14th, 2020 at 9:51 PM ^
Cristobol, Mullen, maybe Pittman ? I’d taken any one of them
November 14th, 2020 at 9:57 PM ^

Joe Brady is such a message board/Twitter fan pick. I'd rather have Hoke again than Joe Brady. I can't believe this guy's name keeps getting floated around.
November 14th, 2020 at 10:12 PM ^
I'd rather have Harvey Weinstein coach this team than have Hoke anywhere near this program
November 14th, 2020 at 10:20 PM ^
No, I don't think you actually feel that way
