Wild Card round started with a bang yesterday with the Jaguars epic comeback. Got 3 games on tap today. The Bills are up 14 on the Dolphins. Giants @ Vikings play at 4:30 and Ravens @ Bengals is the nightcap.

NFL Playoff football is the best sports season. I’m way more invested in Michigan than any pro team, so I’m more invested in their individual games during the college season than any pro games.   Non-Michigan college games can be fun, but they just don’t do it for me like to the NFL playoffs. I could give a shit about the teams that played today, but I’ve been locked in glued to my TV for like 10 hours and it’s awesome.

I agree. From September-December I am all college football and U-M. In my younger days I had enough time and energy to be invested at around 85% for the Lions and the NFL regular season. Now, I am basically just an “in passing” NFL guy. I’ll watch bits and pieces here and there. I know who is doing well and who isn’t. However, come playoff time, I do sit down and watch all of the games.

Like others here have stated really odd time management by Harbaugh. I find it interesting that Ravens called the timeout after they got the 3rd down stop to force the Bengals to punt.  I think about 2:45 left,  but really not sure. But I do know the Ravens had 3 timeouts left. That's an eternity in the NFL 2 minutes and 3 timeouts. But I was thinking maybe Harbaugh didn't want to stress his inexperienced QB, so give him as much time as possible. But then when Harbaugh let the game clock just tick away with under 40 seconds left made absolutely no sense, especially with 2 timeouts.  Just seemed all to familiar to Michigan fans, to have such conflicting time management strategies on 1 drive!

I think the run play is what really didn’t make sense. You waste all of that time and then do a run play that ends up with a penalty but would’ve only gotten you 3 yards anyway. That was the one I really didn’t understand. If you are going to bleed the clock for whatever reason, don’t use a run play that is going to eat up more time.

What's with the expedited reviews?  In the Giants/Vikings game, at least on one mark of the ball and one catch/non-catch, they moved the ball and called a catch a incompletion after an expedited review by upstairs.  Neither were challenged by a coach.

Is this new, because I have never seen this before?  Both were overturned correctly, but I thought all plays, other than scoring plays had to be initiated by a coach.

It was nice in the fact it was done quick, and without really stopping the play.  I'd say this should be done all the time, but then why have officials on the field at all other than a referee to explain things as they get called from people in a booth?
