NFL Playoff Thread

Mates,

Watching and enjoying the Ravens @ Tenn game.  Titans go up 10-0 and look strong, but the Ravens have shut them down and just scored to go up 17-10.  I like Derek Henry, the Titans big back, but am rooting for the Baltimore Harbaughs and their massive, and I do mean massive fullback.  Never saw the guy before but he is 6' 3" and weighs in at 311!  The guy can move and already has three pass receptions in the game.  Apparently drafted for D-line they asked him to switch and now he plays fullback and sometimes TE.  Cool story.

The other games today are:

@ N.O.   10.5 pt favorite over Chicago and

@Pitt, 5.5 pt favorite over the Browns.

Happy Sunday everbody.

I recall the days when Drevno or Pep was OC and whenever Greg Roman was mentioned as a replacement, the consensus on the board was "hell no".  Now he's looking like a savant calling plays for Lamar Jackson.

Harbaugh's Lef…

I've said it before and I'll say it now. John Harbaugh and Greg Roman deserve all the credit in the world for completely renovating their offense to fit Lamar Jackson's skill set instead of trying to fit him into their previous, Joe Flacco offense.

I liked Lamar Jackson while he was at Louisville but after all the "experts" wouldn't shut up about how he'd be better served moving to WR in the NFL in the weeks leading up to his draft year, I really can't help but root for him more and more.

OK, what term would you like to use?

They had 236 yards rushing, so why would they pass when you don't need to, more risky, and its not Jackson's strength?  400 yards of offense ain't too bad in a highly competitive playoff game, about doubling the output of the opponent.  Maybe use a larger sample size or more measurables if you're going to make this point. The commentators were sure complimentary of his overall performance this year.  They are in the playoffs, won the first game, and look pretty tough to beat.

They've been fine and you're correct they did what they needed to do to win today. 20 points isn't going to cut it in the vast majority of games though, including none so far this weekend. The offense looked pretty rough for periods this year as well and again the stats you mention came against a below average defense who's offense was inept.

Why would I need a larger sample size but you don't? Commentators are complimentary of everyone so I don't know how that's remotely relevant.

It's all good, have some upvotes...I made a general statement that he looks good and many did not want him here.  I agree they've been fine and my point still stands.  You countered with a simplistic sentence about points and passing yds from one game (small sample, if you're going to challenge me, then bring it with some data, the burden of proof is on you for your argument), I only mentioned total yds and rushing and a few other things to simply broaden the discussion a little.

You called him savant-like, which despite being an extraordinary claim for some reason requires no burden of proof. When I disagree, with admittedly not much, it's a simplistic statement about one game. When you respond in kind it's just to broaden the discussion a bit. My posts are apparently a desperate attempt for upvotes but I guess yours are a righteous pursuit of knowledge. It's seems like you're holding me to a much higher standard than yourself. Please forgive me almighty master of offensive scheming for daring to dispute your highly intellectual and well researched thesis.

Fortunately, Michigan football already numbed me to losing disappointing games this year.

Now the Titans can finally get a DC and some players back for next season. Most of the key guys are under contract, so I think they’ll be back. Though I said the same thing after 2003 and it took 15 seasons to see another playoff victory.

Anyone else catch the really questionable time management by Harbaugh at the end of the first half? Not calling a TO with just under a minute to go near midfield and that led to some crappy ass play.

Is this a family trait, being shitty at time management/math?

what about that CBS weird camera they are using?   it's like an HD camera up close, with everything else out of focus.  they're using it on player close-ups between action.

looking forward to the browns v. steelers game.  rooting for cleveland but thinking that the steeler are going to get past them easily.
