How the fuck can the ref look right at Hutch getting hog tied and not call that?
September 17th, 2023 at 4:11 PM ^
If we had a Lions coaching snowflake we could go to town on Campbell and Glenn.
September 17th, 2023 at 4:14 PM ^
Glenn needs to go. Soft zones with zero pressure is not a good recipe.
September 17th, 2023 at 4:11 PM ^
Not sure why holding wasn't called on Seattle on that last play. Hutch was getting robbed.
September 17th, 2023 at 4:14 PM ^
He gets held like no one else. It’s absurd.
September 17th, 2023 at 4:15 PM ^
Unfortunately just follows him wherever he goes. Got the shit held out of him constantly here too with almost no calls. NFL and college officials honestly just blatantly refuse to do their jobs in general on holding. You can't call it every play but the amount of uncalled ones not remotely close to legitimate blocks is absurd. I mean what so far this year against three severely overmatched olines UM has one hold called believe.
September 17th, 2023 at 4:16 PM ^
I get so tired of holding not being called.
Just change the rule and let the OL tackle.
September 17th, 2023 at 4:18 PM ^
Agreed, why the fuck even have the rule if college and NFL officials are only going to call 1 out 10 ones that are clear holds. Zero excuse for the amount of ones let go.
September 17th, 2023 at 5:09 PM ^
Play to the last whistle is a phrase where teams that do sometimes win unexpectedly. "Trouble with the snap..." comes to mind. If blatant rules are forgotten or eschewed when the spotlight is on then individual plays seemingly don't matter according to the NFL, apparently. So lets just award wins based on one team tending to makes better plays a little more frequently. Punchers chance be damned.
TJ Duckett and Spartan Bob wouldn't have mattered had Woodley not been held. Similar here. I despise the argument that teams had their chances as if these teams aren't trying and altering the course.
I don't expect perfection from officiating but that was so blatant and game changing as to what else could that idiot be watching. Third and 12 seems better than a TD. A sack and 4th down even better leading to a possible field goal. Maybe the officials would just wave it off since individual plays don't matter. Just the aggregate. Think about what Detroit lost as a team in severe injuries playing their hearts out for the shallow to just say they had their chances as the Lions postgame radio guy did. Too often against this team. Sheila step up!
September 17th, 2023 at 8:16 PM ^
I think it was Larry Stevens #13 who was blatantly held on the last play of the spartan bob game.
September 17th, 2023 at 4:17 PM ^
Fuck the Lions and the dumbasses with their gimmicky face masks. I blame myself for drinking the koolaide after the KC win.
This is a wake up call:
NEVER trust the Lions, they will only rip your heart out and laugh at you like an 8th grade crush.
They are cursed, fuck em.
September 17th, 2023 at 4:21 PM ^
Yep. The Fords are the curse.
September 17th, 2023 at 4:23 PM ^
Its week 2 for Christs sake,
September 17th, 2023 at 6:58 PM ^
After the Lions lose to Atlanta, you will say it's only week 3. I only see this team being .500 at best. The D is weak and the offense is average.
September 17th, 2023 at 8:01 PM ^
Glad to hear you got better
September 17th, 2023 at 4:21 PM ^
Nice Ronnie Bell block for SF allows McCaffrey to score
September 17th, 2023 at 4:26 PM ^
SOL. Bad defense, critical mistakes, and bad coaching….same shit we have seen for years.
The lack of serious investment in terms of a pass rush is crippling. Lions couldn’t generate a pass rush vs a team missing both starting left tackles. DBs couldn’t cover anything. Offense made two critical errors that cost them 14 points. Seattle got 21 points on short fields the last coming on when Campbell decided to go for it on 4 and 3 on his side of the field.
September 17th, 2023 at 4:29 PM ^
You know what would help all teams at the NFL and college level generate pass rush? Is if officials actually wanted to do their job and not allow olinemen to hold the ever loving shit out of guys constantly.
September 17th, 2023 at 4:30 PM ^
It’s almost like the rules are designed to encourage scoring.
September 17th, 2023 at 4:33 PM ^
I mean the rules are written on what holding is and they are just not being enforced. But yes I get the feeling at both levels officials are being encouraged to do whatever they can to help scoring. But that is bs and not what football should be. Both sides of the ball should have to earn what they get, offenses essentially being allowed to not play by the actual rules is bullshit.
September 17th, 2023 at 5:42 PM ^
If it’s not being enforced then it’s not really a rule. Refs don’t call holding because they’ve been told not to.
September 17th, 2023 at 4:39 PM ^

The rules are selectively enforced to encourage scoring.
FIFY.
September 17th, 2023 at 5:44 PM ^
Nice assist.
September 17th, 2023 at 4:31 PM ^
They could be.500 going into the bye week. They need to win next week. A must win. And yes it’s only the second week. Going into Lambeau on a Sunday night will be tough. Watch the fanbase if they come out of that 1-3!
September 17th, 2023 at 4:26 PM ^
Welp. Lions needed time try to win that game in regulation and had a great opportunity to do that with appropriate play calling and clock management.
September 17th, 2023 at 4:27 PM ^
Funny how we're so aggressive when it's really debatable if we should be, but when we absolutely should be aggressive, we aren't.
September 17th, 2023 at 7:36 PM ^
Agreed.
September 17th, 2023 at 4:30 PM ^
I know a few will say it's only 1 game, Packers lost, blah blah blah but this is a major disappointment.
Yeah, nobody had us going 17-0 but after that big win last week we came home and played a mediocre to decent team who was without essentially their entire starting line. The Lions want us to believe they are an elite team. Elite teams win those types of games. Not only did we not win, but our defense which we invested so heavily to improve looked like trash the entire game. If not for the missed FGs Seattle wins easily.
This is just like the Carolina game last year. Expectations get sky high and they absolutely choke. We did this same thing against Seattle at home last year as well. Had we won that, we would have made the playoffs.
September 17th, 2023 at 4:33 PM ^
The Bengals started 0-2 this year and last year, dont worry about it.
September 17th, 2023 at 4:36 PM ^
The Bengals were in the Super Bowl the year before. The Bengals have proven they are capable of winning when it counts. Yeah the Lions won 8 of their final 9 games last year, but realistically how many of those games mattered? We had like a 0% chance of making the playoffs when that run started and then so many breaks went our way it looked like we actually had a chance....and then they completely laid an egg against Carolina. Yeah, we looked great against Green Bay to end the year, but by then it didn't matter.
I don't want to hate this team. I'm a season ticket holder that lives on the opposite side of the country (I'm in Europe and missed today's game) but in my 30 or so years of following this team I can't think of a time when they ever won a big game...and that's because they haven't.
September 17th, 2023 at 4:39 PM ^
The bengals have been shit just as long as Detroit...they only just "proved it" two years ago winning their first playoff game since '91.
September 17th, 2023 at 4:45 PM ^
Which is still more than we have done. And yeah, that had a terrible stretch, but they've also been to two Super Bowls in the 1980s. Only the Cardinals can maybe compete with our futility, but they have also strung together one season good enough to make a Super Bowl.
September 17th, 2023 at 4:35 PM ^
Lions gonna lions.
September 17th, 2023 at 5:30 PM ^
I thought it at the time but woof, that contract Daniel Jones just got looks awful. He's a middling QB at best but he's been terrible.
September 17th, 2023 at 5:38 PM ^
Schoonmaker TD for the Cowboys.
September 17th, 2023 at 5:38 PM ^
I mean, Jesus, the refs aren't even letting the Jets play defense. What a mockery.
September 17th, 2023 at 5:38 PM ^
Schooooon! 1st catch for TD!
Took Dallas -6 1st half. Thank you!
September 17th, 2023 at 5:50 PM ^
The New York Giants have given up 60 points and have scored zero in six quarters of football...
September 17th, 2023 at 5:57 PM ^
Last year felt a bit like a mirage - they went 9-4 in 1-score games - but I thought they'd at least be competitive in games. It's one thing to be run off the field by a good Dallas team; it's another thing to be destroyed by a bad Cardinals team trying to tank.

September 17th, 2023 at 6:56 PM ^
Are you not entertained??
Say what you will about the refs, the coaching, it was a hell of a game. It was intense! Both teams balled out. I lost track of the injured players. Grats to the Seahawks on the win, time to move on to week 3...
September 17th, 2023 at 7:06 PM ^
Looks like the Lion's hype train has derailed. Atlanta is a better team then Seattle, so odds are we will be 1-2. In our division the Vikings will beat us twice. We may beat Green Bay at home? We may be able to beat Chicago twice? I just see another 9-8 season or maybe only 7 wins. But we'll see what happens but this was a game the Lion's should have won at home.
September 17th, 2023 at 7:19 PM ^
What have you seen so far that makes you think the Vikings will win twice?
September 17th, 2023 at 7:21 PM ^
Cousins will rip our secondary apart. A team with a good QB will beat these Lions. They lost to a not so great QB Today!
September 17th, 2023 at 7:56 PM ^
“A team with a good QB will beat these Lions.”
Dude, did you watch the game last week? The Lions beat the QB that is literally the face of the NFL.
You’re pissed. I get it. But you are grossly overreacting.
September 17th, 2023 at 9:01 PM ^
Yep, the Lions just have been a big disappointment since I started following them as a young child in the late 60s, minus a few exceptions. I did like the 90s with Barry Sanders. After a strong finish last season and defeating the super bowl champs on the road, they lose to Seattle (probably a .500 team at best).
September 18th, 2023 at 1:13 PM ^
As a Vikes fan I can say with authority, your take is ridiculous. Cousins will probably put up big numbers, but the Lions will win one, if not both of those games. The Vikes defense is a sham. The Eagles showed that with a run game performance that would have Harbaugh drooling.
September 17th, 2023 at 7:13 PM ^
GIANTS LEAD!
September 17th, 2023 at 7:43 PM ^
At least my AFC team bounced back, the Chiefs. The D played great.
