Juwan continues to offer high end players by offering 2022 5* C Jalen Duren out of Philly. He is the #2 player in the 2022 class behind Emoni Bates and the #1 center in the class.

If people aren't trying to watch his film for superstitious reasons, his game is somewhat similar to James Wiseman. Really athletic, has a great second jump, has some moves around the basket, can stretch the floor a bit

Live here in Philly... have seen him a few times... reminds me of a cross between CWebb & Amare Stoudemire. Ultra athletic, powerful & quick, chiseled from stone for a h.s. kid, with great hands and runs like the wind.

Juwan has done extremely well with less than a year here. He’s an A+ recruiter. Give him 2 years to work on a guy and I think he has a really solid chance.

Good Lord, I can't finish watching that video.  He's an incredible player, especially gor that age.  But history tells us guys like that go to Duke or Kentucky.  I really really hope Juwan-bsll is a different reality.

I agree. Two points.

1) This is why college sports need NIL at the least.

2) World Wide Wes guided Dajuan Wagner to college when there was an expectation of straight to pro. Not saying that JH has the same relationship with WWW that Calipari did/does, or that WWW is to Duren what he was to Wagner - it's definitely not the same situation. Just saying that strange things do happen so nothing is a foregone conclusion.

Scanning the comments... to me CWebb is the right comp.  Having seen CWebb, Kemp, LaPhonso, GR Jr, and others in HS, you could have blurred the face and told me this was Webber and I wouldn't doubt it.

And his name is Jalen?!  The kid is already 2/5ths of the 5X's.

What I find irrational is the name Jalen seemed to originate with our Jalen Rose...tons  wiof andkids have been named after him...yet with all the kids now named Jalen not a single one since has played for us. I'd have thought at least one of them would have wanted to play for his same team.

I keep hoping that we'll see another Jalen at Michigan.

The name Jalen became an extremely popular among Blacks after the Fab Five.

Hence, a few years ago a number of top 100-200 players (in basketball and football) started popping up with the name Jalen.

/Someone told me that J in DJ Wilson stands for Wilson. His name is spelled Jaylen according to wiki.

//I should have skimmed the entire thread before posting. I should have seen the post Alumnus93.

His high school class is the first class that many suspect will be eligible for the draft out of high school since the mid 2000s. So both Bates and Jalen will most likely go to the draft. But if the NBA keeps the current rule, we have as good a chance as any IMO. Izzo has been in on him longer than Juwan obviously, but Duke, UNC and Kentucky will be after him. But how Juwan does next year with Todd and hopefully Christopher - two other top recruits that could be one and some - could go a long way toward a recruitment like this.

There is talk that Bates is considering reclassifying to the '21 class...I am assuming to elevate his competition experience in preparation for the final leap. Bates and Duren would make quite the pairing on a college team-any team for that matter.

Saying that Juwan has changed the Michigan basketball recruiting scene is quite the understatement. It is going to be interesting to see how we Michigan fans change our views in this regard-relative to Duke, Kentucky, North Carolina and Kansas. Because it sure looks as though Juwan now has Michigan entering into the fray.

I tend to think Kentucky and UNC are the extremes on the 1-and-done side (certainly there are exceptions yr by yr), but I kind of foresee M looking like Duke or Kansas wrt roster makeup where you have 1-3 underclassman (likely freshman) per year that want to go pro ASAP, and then a handful of talented contributors that stay in the system until they can get to the lottery or until they graduate.  I think this is ideal also in terms of winning, bc while Kentucky has had some great teams, they’ve been somewhat limited by youth. The recent years UNC made serious runs they had experienced starters as well.
