Or grades or small school/division.

But it also could just be that he's a late bloomer and we're still in a pandemic where kids didn't get scouted much their junior years due to all of the wonky seasons...and now he's blowing up as a senior.

Maybe ECU was his best offer when he committed and now he's got it in his back pocket and he's showing out and draw interest from P5 schools.

He could very well be the anti-Tay'Shawn Trent. A guy who was scouted early and rose up the rankings on potential and size, but hasn't put it all together. This kid could've been under scouted and now he's blowing up.

Just like the LB from Chicago or Kenneth Grant.

Edit, I just did some research (what a concept, right?)

He basically was an ECU level recruit as a junior, nothing special. He's blown up as of late and he's having an incredible senior year. Harbaugh likes guys that are "ascending," so this makes sense.

There are going to be a ton of guys like this. Committed early, scared, pandemic, under recruited...huge senior years and get a ton of late offers.

He's ranked around where Tay'Shawn Trent is in terms of 247 WR rankings, but is on the rise (.80 to .86) versus Trent (.89 to .88) so it may also be that he's just a late bloomer/under-recruited and he accepted an early offer while still keeping his options open.  Wouldn't be the first kid to follow that path.

Obviously I don't know for sure but that might be the case.

Rivals and ESPN have him at 6'4", so there's a little variance in the reporting. Either way, the size/speed combo is enticing.

Looks like Webb has taken visits to Louisville and Tennessee in recent weeks so I would imagine they are the biggest competition, unless another big dog jumps in.
