ND ticket question

Submitted by TK on

I know there is a ticket thread but this is more a general question. Myself and three friends are driving down and looking to get 4 tickets. We are looking for $200 or less per ticket. Does anyone think it’s realistic to have someone selling 4 at this price? Otherwise, any recommendations on where to watch game if tickets don’t happen?

Bought mine yesterday at $275, and they seem to be going up from there. Maybe they will drop slightly before kickoff, but i'd doubt you can get in under $200.

But StubHub guarantees the tickets are real.  I had issues once and the refunded my money.  Hey - if you want to go, just pay and enjoy the game.

I got extremely lucky having a ND grad and booster not wanting to go this time.  I won the mini Michigan football lottery (got tickets at face and a free parking pass right next to the stadium).  Fuck yeah !!!

Sorry man, but there's honestly no chance at grabbing four tickets together under 800.  It's pretty hard to get just one under 300. It's the first game, a night game, a historic rivalry -- just go and have fun without the tix!

I'd second this and say still make the trip. I've done pretty much the exact same thing as OP several years ago (2012 maybe?), hopeful for finding tickets, but couldn't at a reasonable price and just went to a bar and watched instead. The night game makes it worth it because you get a full day of game day experience and festivities. Save the ~$1,000 and have a hell of a tailgate and bar tab for the game (if you're into that sort of thing).

Looking forward to heading there on Saturday. Go Blue!

In my years of scalping outside Michigan Stadium, the only game I almost didn't make it into was 1999 Michigan-Notre Dame. There was almost nobody selling. I managed to get a single for a higher price than I wanted, but it was the only guy I found who even had tickets for sale.

That market doesn't have much to do with the market for this game (it was 19 years ago! Holy cow we're old) but it taught me an important lesson for future road trips to games: If you make a trip to go to a game, either have the tickets secured before you travel, be willing to pay through the nose when you get there, or be willing to show up, see the stadium and the fans, and then walk away like that one scene in Rudy if your price isn't met.

If you're really willing to go to all the trouble of a trip to South Bend and then watch the game with a bunch of pro-ND people in a local establishment, then by all means make the effort. But if seeing the game in person is really the draw, be ready to pay up, or stay home.

Normally wouldn't, but that image of him walking forlorn outside the stadium while the action goes on inside is both pretty cool and a pretty stark and accurate picture of what it would feel like to drive to South Bend, pay for a place to stay, and then wind up frozen out because you couldn't get tickets for the money you had in hand.

I wouldn't count on getting in this game for $200 a ticket. If that's the price you're willing to pay, your best bet is hanging around the stadium prior to kickoff and look for someone who's trying to unload their tickets. But you always have to wonder about whether the ticket is real or not, and there will be people out there looking to hose an opposing fan if they can see they're desperate to get into the game.

I just looked on StubHub and the best bet you're getting with four together is $335 a piece. That price may lower a little bit before gametime, but you're going to have to be ready to pony up to get into this game, pal.

10 minutes from the stadium. Drop over with some beer if no tickets and watch on 4K. As long as you don't mind the Cavy running around the living room. He is a hoot!!

I would bet you can get a single or maybe 2 together for $150-$200 right before kickoff. 4 together no chance. Maybe try getting whatever you can and meeting up inside the stadium ?

I think it is highly unlikely you will get 4 together for $800 even if it rains. Friend just sold his 4 for $740 each. They are great seats.

For future look at the alumni association. You need to buy in July. I am heading down with them, free parking in a2, round trip bus ride, box lunch, and ticket for $245.

My tickets are some type of plastic that came with a ND lanyard. Anyone else have that type of ticket? Wondering if it's a season ticket holder's, whom I bought them from.

Long time reader.  I'm convinced I was one of Brian's first readers but never created an account.  I created this account to post this message but forgot about the mgopoints minimum.  I live in Atlanta and was scheduled to go to the game this weekend.  Wife and I were going to stay in Chicago.  Family member is sick and we are now unable to make the game.  I put my tix up on stubhub - unfortunately more than $200 per ticket - and have two tickets on the Irish Express which is a bus from Chicago.  I can't get a refund now but can transfer them.  Face value is $368 for the two.  Free to a good set of wolverine fans.  I'm presuming anyone interested can direct message me through the blog.  www.irishexpress.com/

Event name: Morning Bus - ND Fighting Irish vs the U of M Wolverines
Event date: Sat 1 September 2018 9:30 am - 11:55 pm
Venue: Old Town Social, 60610

Why are you trying to get 4 together? You automatically pay a premium for them. I scalp all the time and I'm sure if you are patient enough you can get 4 singles for a lower cost. If you are lucky, maybe a couple of pairs between 150-200 towards the end. 4 together for $200 for less...no way.
