Izzo and Dantonio. A good AD may not want the retribution of being the one that fires two popular coaches. The interim AD and President may be asked to make that call.

Disclaimer: I’m just thinking of a fan of the sports teams. What is a Michigan State fan to do? If this happened at UM I’m not sure that I don’t burn everything Wolverine and just pick a new team to follow. Thank god I don’t have to, but seriously, outside of the obvious, I hope they lock everyone up and throw away the key, wtf does Sparty fan have going for them? What do they have to look forward to?

This has the makings of cratering their University and AD for years....decades....who knows. I just feel sorry for the people that chose, for whatever reason, to root for the green and white. I say this as someone who will openly admit that I fucking hate MSU. I hate their short memories and big mouths. But I hate them on the sports level. I wouldn’t wish this on anyone. Again I’m just talking sports related/university Loving types. Clearly the victims of all this shit are the ones suffering. But on a superficial level it must suck a pile of shit to be a MSU fan right now. Makes being a Browns fan look like a warm summer day......

If this were Harbaugh/Beilein I would not burn my diploma or Michigan hat. But I would throw away my framed personal letter from Jimmy and want both of them fired so we can start over.

I just don't understand how someone can have such blind love for coaches of your basketball team when they don't even know you exist. Family, close friends, sure, stand by them and support them through tough times. Two coaches that you don't even know, gone!

I'm sorry but I still don't believe MSU would ever (willingly) fire Dantonio or Izzo over this. All they care about is winning games and beating Michigan.

Ask their fans.

All. They. Care. About. Is. Beating. Michigan.

There will be all kinds of evidence forthcoming that strongly implicates the AD, the coaches, and local law enforcement had an arrangement to deny justice to the accusers in order to keep the machine running. As that evidence comes forward we’re going to see Spartans doing backflips on the head of a pin to explain it away, and to convince themselves that the coaches didn’t know or can’t be held responsible. As you say, the most important thing to any Spartan is convincing themselves that they’re better than UM at something. The fact that both of those coaches have shown they can beat Michigan means they’ll hold on as long as they can. This could be worse than penn state in terms of fanbase / alum denial. We shall see.

If you're referring to MSU, the long-time culture, then this is correct.

Thing is, we're not talking about a culture anymore- this is a police raid in slow motion- every person in the building has time to think about whether or not they want to take a bullet or put their hands in the air.

When it the AG's investigation picks up, very few people (even those utterly drunk on decades of 'Team MSU') will value something so petty as preservation of athletic success over preservation of self.

At that moment, I don't think MSU will have any trouble finding the 'will' to make them go away- fired or retired.

drain MSU's endowment for years to come. It is such a travesty. The State of Michigan needs to take action and ensure taxpayers in Michigan are not bailing out this criminal behavior by MSU administrators and coaches. MSU grads should pay for this bad behavior ... time to pony up Sparty.

Where victims are believed, individuals are held responsible for their actions, and counselors are full partners in policy making for victim assistance.

But the evidence thus far, at least in my view, strongly suggests these men knew more than they're letting on. It's possible they didn't know all of it or even the degree of criminality within their ranks, but it's not likely.

My daughter was a track athlete at a major program. I knew her coaches well, and I know coaches from several schools. These coaches clearly understand the culture of their programs and the character of their athletes, so for a coach to claim they didn't know or that this is "new ground" is just absolute BS.
