MSU Gymnastics Coach Announces "Retirement"

Submitted by LS And Play on

This comes just a day after being suspended amid allegations she tried to quiet athletes who wanted to report Dr. Nassar. The nightmare week continues for Michigan State.

These two huge scandals coalescing together is creating a perfect storm scenario. I think a lot of heads are going to roll, maybe including Hollis, Dantonio, and even the administration. The Nassar story alone is horrible--they are going to be paying out for this, ultimately. It's terrible. Bad for the State of Michigan.

"The underlying accusations involving Ms. Klages have been a serious distraction to her professional responsibilities and detrimental to her overall well-being."

Aww poor baby... how does she think her athletes felt FOR DECADES.

As big a blog as this is, you probably aren't the only one annoyed, and if it were one of the mundane innanities of Spartan life that often get reported here, I would agree with you, but I think what is getting reported here doesn't fit into the category of "mundane innanities" and is in fact newsworthy.

Now, that being said, if it gets to a point where - like Penn State - we need a daily dump thread, we can consider that, but I don't think we're there quite yet. Always willing to discuss these things, of course.

The overreaction to MSU/OSU threads ("OMG YOU POSTED ABOUT MSU, WHICH IS BAD BECAUSE SOMEONE MIGHT THINK WE HAVE A RIVALRY WITH THEM AND NOW A NEUTRAL FAN SOMEWHERE ON THE INTERNET MIGHT LAUGH AT US BECAUSE WE POSTED ABOUT ANOTHER SCHOOL AND MY CREPE-PAPER THIN SKIN CAN'T TOLERATE THAT") is far worse than the threads themselves.

This is a big, developing story.  If someone is putting a gun to your head and making you click here against your will, my condolences.

She should go to jail. She actively facilitated continued abuse of her players and prospects at camps for decades. Like the Sandusky situation if we were certain of just what Paterno knew.
