More Spartan dirt
No bombshell or anything but some background info on MSU’s recruitment of Auston Robertson. Izzo and Dantonio are untouchable because MSU circles the wagons so much, they will go to any length to protect them. But still not a good look for MSU. Not that anyone in the national media pays attention to them. Also, for all the talk they have about the number of transfers we have, they should take a look at their 2016 class. In fact they have as many transfers/dismissals from 2015-2017 ad we do. Yet we don’t have a 100 page “Dantonio’ed” thread going. Because that would be pathetic.

Umbig11 stated that there was another MSU scandal story coming "when the season started". I am assuming that story is not coming since both the football and basketball seasons have started.
November 7th, 2018 at 2:11 PM ^
Weeelllllllllll. Stop paying so much attention to a fraud.
November 7th, 2018 at 2:13 PM ^
Sorry dude, you don't know what you're talking about. K thx
EDIT: sorry you're just wrong. Didn't mean to be snarky.
November 7th, 2018 at 7:46 PM ^
Pep Hamilton sure must have a lot of stuff in his office. He has been cleaning it out forever.
Do I need to make the entire list of "insider" nonsense that he spewed?
November 7th, 2018 at 2:12 PM ^
And because he doesn't really know anything. It's not hard to make statements like that. Here, I'll try.
Word is Alabama will have a good football team next year. Inside sources and all that.

My memory was that it wasn’t a big/new thing; it was just more info but I could be off. I then took it to be about Perles’ role in the Nassar atrocities.

My guess is it was the allegations against the outgoing President of the alumni association (or something, forget) and the sordid allegations against him that explained his sudden firing.
November 7th, 2018 at 5:17 PM ^
this isn't it. That story got steamrolled during the Urban quagMeyer.
November 8th, 2018 at 8:03 AM ^
The story you are thinking of involves a female athlete and male athlete(s) from one of the two major revenue sports.
November 7th, 2018 at 2:05 PM ^
Not to quasi thread-jack but does anybody know what happened to the alleged BIG bombshell that UMbig11 said was going to hit MSU this fall? He seemed fairly certain that something of magnitude was going to come out sooner rather than later that was pretty bad, even by MSU standards.
Edit: Holy shit on the comment right above mine that posted about 2 nanoseconds before mine. Great minds and all that.....
November 7th, 2018 at 2:25 PM ^
The bombshell dropped.
October 20th.

Ka-boom, motherfuckers...
November 7th, 2018 at 3:18 PM ^
The most impressive thing in that gif is the vertical black column on the right of the mushroom stalk. That is USS Arkansas (BB-33) bow pinned to the seafloor and stern in the air.
November 7th, 2018 at 3:20 PM ^
Damn. Thanks for pointing that out.
November 7th, 2018 at 4:17 PM ^
According to this reddit thread, that wasn't a vertical boat, but rather the Arkansas remained horizontal and prevented the water from spouting up, resulting in a dark spot.
https://www.reddit.com/r/shockwaveporn/comments/5zrpfh/best_version_of_…
The National Park Service did a very detailed survey of the site. Here's the relevant chapter, ctrl-f "Arkansas".
The most famous photograph of Baker. The dark spot in the column marks the position of the capsizing Arkansas. Crossroads mythology mistakenly insists this photo shows the upended form of the battleship.
Further down,
The Navy determined that the upsurging blast water "acted on Arkansas from below and to starboard at a point approximately one-third of her length from the bow." [46] This mass of upsurging water capsized the ship to port. The Navy concluded, "The many holes and rivets seams which were opened throughout the entire length of the shell plating by the underwater explosion were the probable sources of flooding. A water wave which smashed over the Arkansas...may have partially aided in swamping the ship."

My understanding was that it had something to do with the women's basketball team but then basically the story fell through for various reasons. But there was something in the works at one time
November 7th, 2018 at 2:10 PM ^
This reminds me...did the right people win the regents races last night?
November 7th, 2018 at 2:15 PM ^
Stupid post. Who the "right people" are is a matter of personal opinion. Otherwise there'd be no point in even having a vote.
November 7th, 2018 at 2:21 PM ^
If your opinion is that the BoT shouldn’t hold the AD accountable, then sure.
November 7th, 2018 at 2:46 PM ^
"Right people" in this situation being "people who don't protect rapists". If you have a strong stance against the definition, that's sort of a "you" problem.
November 7th, 2018 at 3:39 PM ^
I didn't think I had to clarify "right people," who obviously are the ones who would support removing Engler and thus working to improve the current culture in EL. But a quick scan of your 4-week posting history reveals a plethora of stupid posts.... So, um, good luck with that
November 7th, 2018 at 4:28 PM ^

The candidates most critical of the current MSU administration are expected to have won.
November 7th, 2018 at 2:24 PM ^
I just looked at the LSJ and the results are not final yet. They are leading but it's still close and not all votes have been counted yet.
November 7th, 2018 at 2:27 PM ^
This is true, which is why I said "expected to have won" instead of "won."
November 7th, 2018 at 2:34 PM ^
As of 1:46, WZZM 13 in GR shows 100% precincts reporting and declared Brianna Scott and Kelly Teba the winners.
EDIT: Holy crap, did I just earn mgopoints? I was stuck on 17509 forever and suddenly I have 17511.
DOUBLE EDIT: Just upvoted someone, took note of their point total, clicked their user page and saw that they now have two more points. Whoa.
November 7th, 2018 at 2:47 PM ^
We can haz points?
edit: yes!!
November 7th, 2018 at 2:54 PM ^
Have 2 more!
November 7th, 2018 at 2:30 PM ^
Yes, the people who signed the Reclaim MSU pledge won. They are for transparency and better culture and an open Presidential search . One of the winners was a sexual assault victim while at MSU so hopefully she can help clean things up.
November 7th, 2018 at 3:00 PM ^
Wow!!! That is, I was going to say great news, but that doesn't seem quite appropriate to describe an election victory of a sexual assault victim. I'll say this is an encouraging step in the right direction for Michigan State.
November 7th, 2018 at 3:52 PM ^
Yes, Scott and Tebay won, both are vocal critics of how things have been handled and at least one has openly called for Engler to go.
November 7th, 2018 at 2:12 PM ^
He didn't do nuffin.
November 7th, 2018 at 2:14 PM ^
I appreciate the OP posting this article. I agree that “no bombshell” is a correct phrase here as it is MSU - they clearly are an irredeemable trash university. I’m not making a regional dig here, but think of how big a deal this would be if it was at a university that actually had shame or gave a shit what people thought about them.
November 7th, 2018 at 2:30 PM ^
You mean to tell me that MSU would bring a known sex offender onto their campus and potentially put their females student's safety in jeopardy?! Idk man.
November 7th, 2018 at 2:31 PM ^
Recruit has obvious issues and may pose a threat to other students.
MSU: "Hold on, hold on, we gotta look into this."
MSU: {taps shoe on the floor, whistles, looks around for 10 seconds, looks at recruits rankings again}
MSU: "After an exhaustive investigation, all we can say is you should be a Spartan, son. Welcome aboard."
November 7th, 2018 at 2:31 PM ^
MSU fell into the same trap a bunch of other mid-level P5 schools do. Largely, they are unable to grab the interest of those top 100 / top 250 prospects so in order to get talent on their team they take the riskier ones. MSU clearly didn't want to know the truth and basically just wanted to see if everything would work out. The fact that the guy perpetually in trouble with the law in high school was suddenly in trouble with the law in college is a surprise to no one. Especially Mark Dantonio who knew exactly what he was doing
November 7th, 2018 at 2:51 PM ^
This guy, sure. But you look at that 2016 class and the three other guys weren't known problems; hell, Michigan was pushing hard for Corley and maybe one other guy. Some of it is that MSU will always have to take shots at lower-rated guys and, sometimes, those guys are lower rated because of issues off the field. But Dantonio also seems to run a ship that, at the bare minimum, doesn't overly-correct bad behavior and seems to encourage a certain level of DGAF about rules. Hell, LJ Scott has been busted numerous times for dumb little things and nothing really happened except he sat out a series against IU last year. That's a coach thing as much as a program one.

November 7th, 2018 at 3:55 PM ^
These are impressionable kids. The culture they are brought into is a huge difference-maker. To assume that "Corely" would have become a rapist at Michigan because that is what he became at MSU...is not correct thinking.
November 7th, 2018 at 2:51 PM ^
While this is true, Corley and Robertson had offers from UM. I am not sure about the nature of those or if the commitments would have stuck, but it seems like other schools weren't put off by the red flags either.
November 7th, 2018 at 3:26 PM ^
How is your only concern when a star football player is ordered to not step foot on the school grounds "is his homeschooling eligible per NCAA guidelines"?
November 7th, 2018 at 2:32 PM ^
Kudos to ESPN (did I really just say that?)
November 7th, 2018 at 2:56 PM ^
Disgusting. Dantoni should absolutely be fired. But nothing will happen.
