Jeebus.
People aren't even supposed to leave their homes in Ontario except for "essential" work and grocery shopping.
Based on current Covid-19 impacts, government performance on vaccine procurement/distribution and our "stay at home" order it would seem that "drafting" this young man into the CFL may not be the step some envision.
Damn Canadians.
With all their hockey hullabaloo
And that bitch Ann Murray too
Blame Canada
Given the CFL's roster rules, I assume that this is in part because he is Canadian. Does this make him ineligible to continue playing NCAA football if he chooses? I assume not so long as he hasn't signed with an agent.
I think you can technically be a pro in one sport and be eligible in another? Canadian Football is a different sport.
What I was thinking was that the CFL can't unilaterally make a player ineligible by drafting him. I assume that the player would have to sign with an agent or a team. But maybe there is some wrinkle here that I'm missing.
If it worked like that we could start a league ourselves, hold an initial draft and make the entire OSU roster ineligible.
That is correct. Drew Henson was drafted and signed by the Yankees in the 1998 draft but continued to play QB for the Maize & Blue through the 2000 season.
He signed a six-year, $17 million contract to forgo the NFL and play exclusively for the Yankees. He played with the Yankee's minor league clubs in the summer before returning for fall football practice. As you can imagine that created a lot of controversy about his commitment to UM football.
Fucking Steinbrenner poached Henson from the football team and Jeter from the baseball team
I may be incorrect here, but I dont think that necessarily means he is going to play in the CFL this year. The CFL draft rules are just that any Canadian NCAA/NAIA player can be drafted after their senior year of eligibility. Chubba Hubbard was drafted to the CFL as well but tweeted at them "thanks but I've got a team already" basically. The COVID free year may be messing things up a bit for the CFL in that regard this time around. I believe he could still choose to play NCAA this yeah, unless obviously if he signed with the CFL.
Of note, Luigi Vilain was drafted in the 3rd round to the Argonauts. He may be in a similar spot considering he transfered this winter to Wake already.
I think I knew that Luigi transferred to Wake Forrest, but I evidently forgot and this surprised me. Super disappointed that a guy with his recruiting profile and All World name team didn't get more play.
Does being drafted into the CFL revoke one's college eligibility? I'm assuming it does, but it doesn't get talked about much.
It's a pretty interesting scenario for Diallo - go get paid now on a lesser contract in the CFL, or go to a P5 program and work towards a shot at the NFL draft.
Nope! Until he signs a contract, he is still eligible to play in the NCAA.
kid is still eligible for NCAA as long as he doesn't sign with an agent or sign a contract.
Hamilton is just getting the kids rights for the CFL if he doesn't go to the NFL or transfers to another school
So you’re saying there’s a chance? Anyone know if we are pursuing this young man? I know nothing about him except his measurables, seems like we could use him regardless.
Now the Tiger Cats need to draft Rachel McAdams and Brooke Henderson to play OLB. Confuse the offensive line, distract the quarterback and BOOM DIALLO SMASH.
Alanis Morrisette seems like she’d be good at mind games. Viper?
