Sharing Trolls Counts as Trolling: Sometimes desperately lazy outlets hire trolls, or trolls who are good at social media build enough of a following, that they become a headache for us, spreading hate or falsehoods. Because having them repeated on our site can directly harm us, if you're on the message board you should be aware that posting something from them could get you banned. They are:

  • SirYacht/Chat Sports/James Yoder - Fake news merchant who likes to make up plausible rumors or report non-sure things to get a false scoop.
  • Any local Spartan media when they talk about Michigan. Unless they're yelling "MAKE PLAYS!"
  • Rainer Sabin: Finebaum wannabe hired by the Freep to troll Michigan fans.
  • Tony Garcia: Same deal. Sparty the Freep hired to be a troll.
  • Steve Deace: Curiously well-funded white supremacist radio host who's got such a small Michigan following you can safely assume anyone posting positively about him is Deace and ban him again. Creates lots of burner accounts to promote himself. Recently booted by Maven for advocating lynching.
  • Barstool: People who took the freedom of young internet too seriously because really what they wanted to do the whole time was propagate bad ideas.

Wouldn't his "minions" also be Michigan fans?  Why would they sign up to participate in a thread that no longer exists?  It feels like you view the real threat as people who don't think like you.  

I am not defending the post or "the call to arms".  The whole thing seems silly on both sides.

That means nothing to me.  Congrats on thinking so highly of yourself that you announce your neg points. 

I am pretty sure I mentioned I wasn't defending the post or actions.  Not like the mods couldn't see the response his post got in the discord server.  It was met with sort of disgust for this site, not a let's go get them attitude.  I would also imagine that the majority of his server already has an account here.  

We are all michigan fans.  Instead of flaming each other maybe we should have conversations.  I don't agree with Archive's actions.  But it seems everyone is so quick to retreat to their kingdoms and ban their ideological enemies.  The mods here are posting about being alert for the invaders.  Even though those so called invaders are michigan fans.  

This is just my opinion.  Maybe I'm naive in thinking adults should be adults and work out their issues.  Will all of you condemning this now abstain from using his streams?

thus completely missing the points.  point one, that i never neg anyone, ever, for exactly the reasons you use in your own defense.  i'd rather either argue someone else's point, or ignore them entirely.  but your sea-lioning earned one because point two:  the dude specifically asks his pals to go and attack the board.  let's be clear:  that's what brigading means, to coordinate a bunch of dudes to attack, as he specifically says, the "non-blinder wearing" among us.  whatever that means.

this isn't a street corner, this isn't a governmental agency, this isn't some sort of public event.  the people that host this website are under no compunction to either host this crap, or spend time defending themselves against some dude and his buddies that are pissed that they don't get to pick fights with the entire community over...whatever the hell he wants them to pick a fight about.

this notion that this is some example of The Man stomping all over MGoArchive, when all he wanted to do was engage in some sort of free exchange of ideas, is a laughable insult to our intelligence.

The beef is over the recruitment of Jadyn Davis. Holland reported that Davis was planning to commit in the spring. At that time he wasn't and he certainly had not told Holland. This really upset Davis's father, who ripped Holland publicly on Sam's show. Sam originally suppressed that part of the interview, until Holland made some comment, and Sam released the whole thing. Holland in turn supposedly started downgrading his scouting reports of Davis but refrained from making comments for awhile. That was until Davis committed and Holland pointed out it was in Spring after all.

It's uncomfortable for me because I believe I have a good relationship with both of those guys.

Holland downgraded Davis for no other reason other than he was mad at Sam and Davis’s dad for complaining about Holland being a bullshitter?

I don’t care who Holland has befriended (which is critical for him being successful in his job), but downgrading a player’s football profile because Holland has an axe to grind should get him fired and should be exposed.

Wasn’t there a similar issue with Holland claiming to have inside info on Edwards, he didn’t have inside info, and Sam called him out?

It was, and I cleaned it out. If one can debate Belafonte's legacy in a manner that doesn't wander into subjects that create a shitstorm around here, fine, but otherwise, please try to steer clear of those debates, folks. I am not going to pick through and judge acceptable or not - I basically dumped entire strings, giving everyone the chance for a fresh start in that thread. Not a perfect job - the tools available don't permit perfection - but for now, better.

I recently put up a post, OT: U of M Health System Video (PSA?), and an mgobloger provided me with the video I was looking for. I apologize for bothering you but is there any way you could delete the post? The video means a lot to me but it may not to others. If you feel the post is inappropriate I understand, and am willing to accept any consequences (including a vacation to Bolivia, obviously).

Well, first and foremost, I took that whole subthread out, and I apologize to the people whose replies were respectful and innocuous. I think this is the second "RIP" post in a row that has gone sideways, the other recent one being Harry Belafonte.

I mean, is it too much to ask that one simply pay their proper respects, even through clenched teeth, for purposes of maintaining what remains of order here? 

I'll sleep on punishments, but there will be some.

I guess the good news is that since he still is on mgoblog he can now answer my question about providing quotes for the UM employees that are on record advocating for the destruction of the United States. Still waiting Sal.
