REMINDER THAT SHARING TROLLS COUNTS AS TROLLING: Sometimes desperately lazy outlets hire trolls, or trolls who are good at social media build enough of a following, that they become a headache for us, spreading hate or falsehoods. Because having them repeated on our site can directly harm us, if you're on the message board you should be aware that posting something from them could get you banned. They are:

  • SirYacht/Chat Sports/James Yoder - Fake news merchant who likes to make up plausible rumors or report non-sure things to get a false scoop.
  • Any local Spartan media when they talk about Michigan. Unless they're yelling "MAKE PLAYS!"
    Pete Finebaum: FoxNews for SEC fans. Occasionally useful to them but the only times he's intersecting with us is when he's carrying Saban's water.
  • Rainer Sabin: Finebaum wannabe hired by the Freep to troll Michigan fans.
  • Steve Deace: Curiously well-funded white supremacist radio host who's got such a small Michigan following you can safely assume anyone posting positively about him is Deace and ban him again. Running joke among Michigan media members because he creates lots of burner accounts to promote himself. Type of person who plays the "they hate me for my politics" card in hopes someone's dumb enough to switch their morning breakfast cereal to flavorless cardboard flakes to own the libs. Recently booted by Maven for advocating lynching.
  • Barstool: People who took the freedom of young internet too seriously because really what they wanted to do the whole time was propagate bad ideas.

After reading your above post and seeing many others with equally valid thoughts about the thread (within the thread itself), I'm going to look for a "creative" way of taking action, mostly along the lines of heavily editing the title and OP. 

I must agree, it isn't a good look at all, especially considering we're 0-1 (OUCH!) on the gridiron vs. Tucker.

I'm going to rely on members of the MGoBoard regarding a reply that was up on the "OT - Need advice very badly" earlier this evening, a post at the top of that thread in reply to the OP himself. The offending post was apparently edited out at some point by the poster himself, "gimmiedat87".

I didn't see the post myself, but judging from the replies posted by two board members and also from the negvotes it received, there appears to possibly be grounds for banning or a major point deduction for what he said. 

Any help here would be appreciated.

Hey Rob,

I saw it. It really wasn't bad.  It was a clip from the movie The Town where Ben Affleck shows up at Jeremy Renner's apartment and tells him he needs his help and that they're going to hurt some people.  I think it was just a misguided attempt to add some levity to the situation.

I didn't want to direct the question at you, especially within your thread, because you obviously have more important things to deal with right now. I'm hoping you are making good progress in helping your daughter and with getting answers from her school's administration.

(Edit @11:20 am:  I just read your update and the comments from the board that directly followed. My kudos to you for how you calmly confronted the school officials who were directly involved yesterday and today. 

You are a good man. I would have had a really difficult time keeping my cool with them after finding out that they so far had done little more than damage control rather than a full investigation.

Thank you. I've come really close to completely losing my shit multiple times today.  The more I find out how this was handled from the start the more I want heads to roll.  Facts just keep coming out that make it look like the school was either actively trying to hide the situation or just completely ignorant on how to act, neither of which make me feel safe to send her back.  One of the worst parts about this is that this is her first year in middle school and she was already a little timid about going.  She actually started off the year doing all virtual so she has only been in the building for about 2 weeks and this happens.

I'd skip the warning and go straight to a ban. That guy has the emotional intelligence of a toddler and he's been doing this act for years. Trashes every player on the football and basketball teams during games and then sings their praises in the victory afterglow (or continues badmouthing them if it's a loss). It's pathetic. I know that game threads are kind of the Wild Wild West and there's no way to moderate them as they're happening but the things he says are unacceptable with a capital U.

My job here is to keep peace on the MGoBoard and to enforce board rules, not to enact heavy-handed censorship.

I'd need to hire a full-time staff to proofread and analyze everyone's posts if I were to ban folks for what he posted.
