Hensons Mobile…

As has been said by many times in the past couple days, Ryan Day did his little rehearsed theater to show his team that he has their back. It was for no other purpose.

Is he so delusional that he thinks it will actually stop others, including his own fanbase, from calling them soft? Who knows, maybe. But if he has a semi-functioning brain and an honest moment, he will understand that you don't get to change the narrative by yelling about it, you have to actually show it.

I noticed during the game that he was more animated than I'd ever seen him. I thought someone must have told him that his sideline demeanor was too passive and that he better start looking more passionate. The whole post game rant was obviously an attempt to get the fans on his side. He is super fortunate that Marcus Freeman is the head coach at Notre Dame.

He’s not wrong. OSU is one of the most entitled programs in the country so the chip on the shoulder act is amusing at best and disrespectful at worst. What it isn’t is accurate.

Day can yap all he wants. Anyone who watched the game saw ND run the ball down their throats.

There is some truth to the idea that everyone hates Ohio. But it isn't because they're so tough, believe me...

Day has Freeman to thank for being able to go on his rant. Notre Dame was proving how weak OSU by trucking their defensive lineman when for some inexplicable reason Freeman and ND had a brain fart and decided to try and throw the ball around thus stopping the clock and allowing Day to hold on to his timeouts. Then to close things out having only 10 guys on the field. People often complain about Harbaugh’s end of game management but what Freeman did was stupidity at the highest of levels.

They were 4-7-1 in 1988, John Cooper’s first year. Cooper was 6-6 in 1999. In 2011, under Like Fickell they were 6-7. Those were 2 of only 3 losing seasons in the last 7 decades, going back to and including the Woody Hayes tenure. Woody was 3-5-1 in 1959. He started there in 1951. I hate them, but I do respect them. Our games have always been hard fought but clean. MSU, on the other hand, can kiss my maize and blue ass. The tunnel incident and deliberate attempts to injure over the years led me to feel that way. Gholson twisted Denard Robinson’s helmet, with his head still in it,  I also vividly recall them breaking Jim Harbaugh’s arm in Ann Arbor in 1984, his sophomore season. He dove for a loose fumble and reached for the ball. Sparty went straight for his arm, not the ball. It put JH out for the season. It was Bo’s worst season. We finished 6-6, including a close loss 24-17 to BYU, the eventual National Champion, in the Holiday Bowl. We were big underdogs playing without a good QB and damn near won. If JH has a chance to run it up on Sparty in East Lansing, you can be sure he will. Like elephants, Ufer, and Bo, he never forgets.

Fantastic from Mike.

Despite the win, I do not believe this game showed OSU to be a "tough" team. From my vantage point, ND really controlled the line of scrimmage on both sides in the second half until their choke job last defensive drive. It seemed like the OSU line was getting pushed back in the run game and could not pressure Hartman in the pass game. Up until ND had that silly miscommunication on the negative run play, they were moving the ball and were 1 first down away from a win.

Well said. Whatever issues Day has with “the world” are a product of his own making. You never saw urban trying to convince anyone his teams were tough. Big cry baby! And it was 3 bad half’s. Two against us and rolling over for Georgia.

A question about the ND v OSU game on Saturday. Did OSU win the game, or did ND lose it? My view is - ND lost the game. I appreciate that Day believes in how tough his squad is. And, hope the Bucks are favored in every game during the conference season.

According to 247’s Team Talent Composite - since 2015 (as far back as I have access to the data), the Buckeyes Team Talent has been “Top Three” in all but one season. The lone year they weren’t Top Three was 2016 when they were ranked 5th in talent. I realize they have found success on the field - the only two schools with consistently better talent than the Buckeyes are Alabama and Georgia - and, it does seem clear that both Bama and Georgia have been more successful.
