Yep.

I posted in another thread last week.  I had a good source said he's been out at Michigan for almost a month.  I didn't want to post a separate thread at that time based on a text with a friend close to the program.

I've already seen several conflicting reports. This site seems to be leaning toward, "he stepped away", but i've seen other articles saying he wasn't offered a spot back. The latter seems unlikely as you would think SM would have been actively pursuing a replacement. Interesting situation. Love Mike Hart and wish he would have stayed forever.

Yeah I can’t imagine he wasn’t offered a spot back and we haven’t heard anything about that or Michigan contacting replacements.

Seems more likely that Michigan said “take all the time you need” and Hart just came back with “I’m not gonna be able to do it.”

Tell whoever your “source” is they can shut the hell up. You and whoever your “source” is don’t know shit. All these fake ass insiders that know everything. Don’t spread stuff that’s not true. Especially about a guy like Hart, who is a legend at Michigan and a really stand up guy. Don’t need fake shit being spread so cut it out

Ok chill dude. I can tell you that my source has been very reliable in the past.  In fact this source’s family is very close with the Harbaughs (ie they were at his first wedding). This is why I refrain from creating a new post on this because at times a source can be wrong.

Hey, didn’t MJ14 tell you to cut it out already??!! So cut it out!

seriously sorry to see Mike go but for me the personal issue line of thought does not make much sense since best would be to get a new contract and then take a leave of absence or something.

Got to suck even more if pissed about Campbell and then JH didn’t offer your to the Chargers either since even I got an offer as “random Charger season ticket holder” (it said I would be #8032 .. Not to shabby!)

See the posts after this one now speculating, falsely, about something that didn’t happen, because of you? I don’t care if you think I should “chill” or if your source is Jim Harbaugh himself. You’re wrong, you don’t know the situation. None of you do. And apparently you can’t think logically either. Hart is going through a personal issue, Moore wanted him back, gave him time to see if he wanted to be back. Hart decided to not return. The reports about Moore not offering him a spot are bs, why would Moore wait this long to announce a RB coach if he knew Hart wouldn’t return? They just announced a ton of staff members. You don’t think Moore would have hired someone by now? Knowing Hart hasn’t had a contract for months? Moore wanted him back and gave him time to consider. Think logically about this, why would they have waited to hire a RB coach or promote someone? Or just now start looking? Hart won’t be back, but it has nothing to do with him being pissed about being passed over and speculating that when you don’t know the real reason is complete bullshit. Thanks to baseless rumors and false sources now people are speculating on this thread that he’s essentially butt hurt and shouldn’t be because he should “know his place.” All thanks to you making shit up. Again, you don’t know the gravity of the situation or anything about what Hart is going through.

Also, why would Hart be potentially sticking around to mentor guys if he was so “pissed about being passed over?” This is bigger than football. Don’t spread stuff you can’t back up.

Do this for me. Check my posting history. I don’t care who or what his source is. I talk to Hart frequently. I visited him in the hospital in Bloomington. I’d like to say I have shared things that were all correct for years now, only because I wanted to correct some of the wrong stuff being shared.

I told everyone a longgggg time ago Harbaugh was working a deal with the Chargers. The Chargers reached out to Harbaugh before they fired their head coach. This is all fact and all things I shared here on the board. I also told people the few years before that it was business as usual with Harbaugh and he wasn’t going anywhere.

The point is you can question me all you want. I have never claimed to be an insider nor want to be considered one. But I have previously shared I have a relationship with Hart. This poster does not communicate in any way with Hart, nor do any of these supposed insiders.

The insane part is many of them make shit up that’s close to possible and then just say well it’s a fluctuating situation or situations can change. They then claim this info to come from someone close to the program and most of it is based on rumors and conjecture. Some of it is just straight made up stories that build off of some potentially true info. It’s crazy.

In terms of his playing career and legacy at Michigan, I can understand why he's pissed.

But from the outside, it seems he's a bit delusional in terms of his coaching experience and success. The typical progression is to go from position coach to coordinator to head coach. He couldn't have seriously thought he was gonna get that Indiana job, right? And he should've understood that Sherrone would've wanted someone who's already been a coordinator to take the position in his first year.

Hart needs to try to cut his teeth with an experienced coach as a coordinator or try to get a non-power 5 HC and show he's capable of a major position.

Hart came back to Michigan, beat OSU 3x, won three B1G titles, and a National Championship. So happy for him! Hope the best for him now and with whatever comes next.

"And the great Michael Hart, upon seeing the glory and splendor of Blake Corum revealed to the world, knew that he would not see the like again.  He wept, for in his heart was the knowledge that he had reached the peak of his time as coach of this position and that he must again walk the earth.  And so he beat on - ball held high and tight unto his chest -  against the current of opposing defenders, borne back ceaselessly into the past."

In all seriousness, take care of yourself #20.  You still have a home here whenever you are ready to return.

Whatever is going on, first and foremost, I certainly hope Mike Hart is doing OK. That's far more important.

I would also like to thank him for all that he has done in Ann Arbor, both as a player and a coach. The door is always open too, I am sure.

Love him.  Was my favorite RB growing up.

In terms of the program, are we at risk of losing Dono, Mr Ohio and any of the other backs?

MJ14

March 8th, 2024 at 5:44 PM ^

Donovan isn’t going anywhere. Marshall was extremely close to Hart, but Hart has told him to stick around and Michigan is the right fit for him. There’s a chance Hart is still around the program and guys like Marshall potentially. He has a few options currently, but time will tell. Don’t wanna share anymore than that. But potentially he’ll be around to still be a mentor to some of these guys.

Expected at this point. Hope everything is ok with him and his family. He should be given a lot of credit for helping the program return back to prominence.

Best wishes to Mike and his family and that he will be fine going forward. This is a big loss for the program but it too will be OK.

Thank you for everything Mike. You cultivated the best damn RB room in America. Take care of what you need to take care of. You will always be a legend here.

Given that this has been a possibility for the last months and half to two months, I’m hoping Sherrone already has a good replacement lined up.

I was hoping Hart would come back as RB coach. But it here is friction with the program or with the HC, it may be best for him to go his separate way.

MJ14

March 9th, 2024 at 11:57 AM ^

Moore and Hart have no friction. They’re good friends and will continue to be. Get along very well. Moore respects Harts visions for the run game and believes he’s a big reason why the offense was so successful with their running game between Moore’s lineman and vision and Harts as well.

Thank you coach Hart for 3 B1G championships and a National Championship.

You will always be a Michigan legend.

That bums me out.  You got to be going through a lot to quit your job at a $550-600k job in the off season. Hope things work out for him and he gets back on track at Alabama or somewhere almost as prestigious as Michigan.

MJ14

DeBoer offered him an analyst position at Bama to ease some of his workload and Hart will consider it. Might also take some time off from coaching completely. If he takes time off he’ll stick around Ann Arbor and be a mentor for some of the guys he’s recruited. I could say more, but I shouldn’t.
