Mike Hart named associate head coach at Indiana: #Indiana has made these moves official now. Tom Allen: "Nick is one of the bright, young offensive minds in our game." Also, #Hoosiers RB coach Mike Hart will be elevated to associate head coach.

Jay was 100% unqualified to be here when he got here. However, he has landed a couple stud RBs and ZC was a good blocker here in his first year. I'm not saying that Jay is the best guy for the job, because he probably isn't, but he's doing a pretty good job.

Also, the RB subs have been shit since Wheatley was here. That's a Jim Harbaugh thing.

Recruits love coaches who played in the NFL.  Brian Hartline didn’t have any coaching experience.  He spent 1 season as grad assistant I believe.  When he got promoted to receivers coach he became the top recruiter in the country in 1 year.  You don’t have to have a lot of experience coaching but you do have to be able to recruit and to teach the finer points of the position.

Mike Hart very probably recruited IU soph RB Stevie Scott III, since Scott is from Syracuse.

As a freshman in 2018, Scott ran for 1137 yds on 228 attempts. His numbers fell off some this season, rushing for 845 yds on 178 carries, but he missed a game or two for IU after injuring his knee against Michigan.

Maaan, next time someone goes all "what has he done, he's just a Michigan Man...I'm so tired of the Michigan Man thing" or whatever bullshit "that guy" is always saying, just because I'd prefer Hart over Jay Harbaugh...I'm going reach through my computer and smack the SHIT out of that person.

More than qualified. Like I've been saying.

Dynamic personality, would be a fantastic recruiter (which Jay already is...I know), DEVELOPS these IU guys into solid college and even NFL players. Another minority on the staff (which does matter to some...diversity is always a plus). Would be the perfect fit for that role.

What players has Mike Hart developed into NFL guys? None that I know of. I’m not saying I don’t want Hart on staff but I’ve seen numerous people state that Hart has coached NFL guys which I can’t find to be true.

Harbaugh has recruited Zach C and Blake Corum. Zach looks to be a legit NFL guy and Blake could become a draft pick as well. Jay is also in on Donovan Edwards already. Edwards is a JK Dobbins kind of guy.

But that would likely be because of Ed Warinner. And Karan Higdon was a better back in his last year because of Ed Warinner. We need to give credit where credit is due. This higher caliber of RB (and also in offensive lineman) coming to Michigan is a result of Ed Warinner being here.

Mike Hart has been a running backs coach for four different programs (EMU, WMU, Syracuse, Indiana) over eight seasons. These programs are not loaded with 4-star athletes on the offensive line. Still, four of his running backs eclipsed the 1,000-yard threshold. For comparison purposes, Karan Higdon (2018 - 1,178) is the only Michigan running back to accomplish this mark over the past eight seasons.

2012 EMU - Bronson Hill, Sophomore, 910 Yards

2013 EMU - Bronson Hill, Junior, 1101 Yards

2014 WMU - Jarvion Franklin, Freshman, 1551 Yards (MAC Offensive Player of Year)

2015 WMU - Jamauri Bogan, Freshman, 1051 Yards

2016 Syracuse - Dontae Strickland. Sophomore, 566 Yards

2017 Indiana - Morgan Ellison, Freshman, 704 Yards

2018 Indiana - Stevie Scott III, Freshman, 1137 Yards

2019 Indiana - Steve Scott III, Sophomore, 845 Yards

Strickland averaged 3.5 ypc under Hart, the worst of his career. Jarvion averaged 5.2 and 5.5  without Hart and with Hart averaged 5.1 and 4.8. Bogan definitely had his best season with Hart. Just an observation but most of these guys had a great first year with Hart and a worse second year. Not saying that means anything but it’s an observation. Stevie Scott went from averaging 5 ypc to 4.7 in his second year under Hart. This upcoming season will be the first time that Hart has had a third year with a guy. Let’s see what he does with Stevie in the upcoming season.

Hi, nice to see some good UM guys do well in their chosen profession.

Interestingly the OC Kalen DeBoer left for the Fresno State job, after he took over for Mike DeBord.

Poor Indiana.

They constantly out-scheme and out-coach us, but they never win because we have superior talent.

There's a lesson in there for us . . .
