COOOOOOOON! Takes down Snyder for his first win and should overtake the 1 spot, silver lining in a loss but that is the silverest of lining considering Snyder hadn’t lost in 3 years

I don’t follow wrestling so excuse me if I’m out of line. Why would a 215lb individual wrestle a 285lb one? Giving up 70lbs and 6 inches is an absurd hurdle to clear. Would a 150lb wrestler ever be matched against a 200lb wrestler? Weight wise it’s the same difference and doesn’t seem remotely fair. Congrats to Coon for the win and congrats to Snyder for not sitting the match out and having another individual wrestle that class this match.

in that class. The two heavyist weight classes are 197lb and 285lb. Some think there should be a weight between those and some also think there should be unlimited above. Snyder is at his best at the physical weight he wrestles and uses speed and strength combined with athletic ability to defeat heavier opponents. Coon frankly looked to strong for him and had plenty of foot speed.

College wrestling has ten weight classes at 125, 133, 141, 149, 157, 165, 174, 184, 197 and Heavyweight (under 285 pounds).  Some states have as many as 14 high school wrestling weight classes that go from 106 pounds to 285 pounds with an intermediate weight class at 215 or 220 pounds between 195 and 285.

Though only about 5-11 and 225 pounds, Ohio State’s World and Olympic champion Kyle Snyder has been considered the best wrestler, pound-for-pound, in the world.  His athleticism, strength and quickness have enabled him to take on heavier and taller wrestlers without many problems.

He was coming off a tough match against Penn State's 265-pound and sixth-ranked Nick Nevills last weekend. Nevills held off Snyder and avoided a pin, a five-point technical fall or a four-point major decision that enabled Penn State to beat Ohio State 19-18 in a dual meet between the top two teams in the nation.

But Adam Coon proved that he can take on Snyder and beat him. Five of the top seven ranked heavyweights this season are from Big Ten Schools. Coon, Snyder, Iowa's Sam Stoll (3rd), Nevills (6th) and Maryland's Youssif Hemida (7th). LINK

They added the 215 weight class in Michigan high school in the 94-95 season for that very reason. Until tonight it didn’t matter. Snyder has beaten them all. He could be burned out. He’s been wrestling college and international this winter.

wrestling. Ohio state has been recruiting off the charts for quite some time now in wrestling. They are an absolute powerhouse right now and just reloading every year. I was shocked that Michigan was almost able to pull off the upset. my son wrestles here in Ohio and can tell you it's extremely tough here. U of M is closing the gap in recruiting. The Jordan boys from St. Paris Graham were both defeated last night which was freaking awesome. Go Blue!!!
