Michigan Vs. Rutgers - Game Thread - 3:30 PM, ABC

Remember that the athletic department at Rutgers is on shaky financial footing, so at some point, do help them out and "Rent The Garden" for your next gathering.

...but do it after embarrassing them on the field.

Donovan Edwards is going to be frustrated after this game.

He was already frustrated after Washington, prompting Hart to publicly state he should've played him more. It's going to be 100x louder after this mess. Especially with Henderson going wild.

Why keep running Corum inside ? Is it to not show perimter runs on film for next week?  I'm really beginning to question Gattis.

And then FINALLy runs the QB keep at the end of game, on 3rd and 12 ? Cade wasn't making that...but still.. run that fucking play early so they have to defend it.     Is Gattis a moron ?

And rightfully so...he's an AWFUL play caller.

His plays are solid, I like them. He has no idea what to call and when.

He is the anti-Pep Hamilton. Who knew how to call plays, but everything was 12 step drop, deep route that took an hour to develop.

Bring back Pep to call the plays...but don't let him design shit. In fact, don't let him in the stadium. Have Gattis upload his playback into a video game and Pep can sit at home and call plays like NCAA Football 2014.

I also really hope that writers on this site stop belittling Rutgers every chance they get. Rutgers had a good defense (yes it was aided by Michigan slamming their head in a wall trying to time travel back to 1985) but still good. They actually had more yards than Michigan and ran better.

I don't know (and as you stated, you don't care), but maybe the biggest issue is Harbaugh not recognizing McNamara was hurt or otherwise scared and not making the switch. You want to show confidence in your starter, but you also have to see what's going on out there.

Schiano never stopped taking shots. But he made adjustments, too. He would have had to stop stacking the box if he saw that Michigan could make him pay with pass like they did in the first half.

So you might not care, but there could well be a coaching issue that requires a different mindset to resolve. A game that should have been over midway through the third quarter after that first stop turned out a bit of a nail-biter.

I put the second half mess on Cade and his inability to accurately pass on time. His feet never get set because he is bouncing around too much. He is picking up bad habits that’s killing his progress.

Time to take the win, keep morale, and get immediately on working on improvements everywhere -- especially in offensive play calling.

Wow, OC needs to go away.  The offense may have succeeded had the OC given the passing game a chance in the 3rd.  The measure of a coach is the adjustments at half time. Gattis chose to be stubborn and play it safe when it may have cost the game. I think it may have cost next week.

Now Cade has little confidence after going cold.  He was hopping up and down like his feet were on fire. The delivery was terrible in the 4th.

I will say Rutgers played as physical and disciplined as could be asked.

If I hear Sean McDonough say "easily could have been a win" for Rutgers one more stinking time. . . I mean, we got critical stops and stripped the QB for a fumble. Game over.

Happy for the win!  I felt it should have been 1 or 2 more TD's for us but it was a tough fought win.   Rutgers played well disciplined football and Coach Schiano’s presence has made a difference for them.  When Schiano was there previously they were a good solid team as well.  I still wish we would open it up more through the air on offense but we also ate up the clock and controlled this game.  Had we scored the TD when McNamara threw the ball too far in front of Schoonmaker the game would of looked even better for us.  Still much to clean up but we had to play 4 quarters of football which was good for the team as a whole.  Rutgers looked good and gave us a good fight which I think prepares us better for next week.  Glad for the win but of course I felt it could of easily been a bigger point gap for us.  A win is always a good thing.

I like Cade but I don't remember seeing a QB go from cool and calm to looking like he was a panic.

Devin Gardner was explaining what Cade was doing to his vision by jumping up and down in the Washington game.  His throws looked like he couldnt see.

I wouldn't give him much of a chance at staying ahead of JJ for more than a few more games. Less than that when we start losing. Next week will be hard to watch.
