Brilliant passing, and amazing that Brooks is now a marksman
December 1st, 2018 at 4:05 PM ^
Simpson is playing great d, but his offense has been a bit sloppy. Had his pocket picked a couple of times, and seems to be dribbling high.
Not complaining, because his defense has been superb

Wooooooooo
December 1st, 2018 at 4:05 PM ^
Iggy stepback? Alrighty then!

December 1st, 2018 at 4:06 PM ^
We aren't going to shoot like this for 40 minutes. Wow.
December 1st, 2018 at 4:09 PM ^
That's the beauty of being able to defend. We don't have to.
December 1st, 2018 at 4:06 PM ^
Mathews to Teske for another dunk!!!
December 1st, 2018 at 4:11 PM ^
you can't teach 7 feet. it's been a long time since we could just toss the ball near the rim in a half court offense and have someone dunk. webber probably the last guy.

Yeah, Iggy's one-and-done
December 1st, 2018 at 4:08 PM ^
Stop - enjoy him
December 1st, 2018 at 4:11 PM ^
Chill. It was a compliment.
December 1st, 2018 at 4:11 PM ^
We will be lucky if Teske doesn’t declare the way this team is playing. Sit back and enjoy it.
December 1st, 2018 at 4:07 PM ^
Can someone gif the fan at 1:44 in the first half?
December 1st, 2018 at 4:07 PM ^
Another fantastic performance so far.
What a roll this team is on!
December 1st, 2018 at 4:08 PM ^
CACKLE.

December 1st, 2018 at 4:08 PM ^
WTF is Simpson doing?!?! Get the ball to Iggy when he’s open!!!
December 1st, 2018 at 4:08 PM ^
This is going swimmingly.
In other news...is Ohio State out of the Playoff yet?
December 1st, 2018 at 4:10 PM ^
They will be when NW wins!
December 1st, 2018 at 4:12 PM ^
You...don't REALLY think that's going to happen...right?
I mean, yeah, that would be great. But I just don't see NW staying anywhere close in this game. I think it could get out of hand very early.
December 1st, 2018 at 4:16 PM ^
At this point, all NW has to do is stay somewhat close and OU is in.
December 1st, 2018 at 4:22 PM ^
I don't think NW is gonna stay "somewhat close," but I think the door has already closed on Ohio State -- at least in terms of Oklahoma. Their hopes will stay alive (sorta) with Clemson and Pitt yet to play.
December 1st, 2018 at 4:23 PM ^
OU is in no matter what. OSU cannot jump OU. No chance in hell. OSU is playing for the rose bowl now.
December 1st, 2018 at 4:16 PM ^
Oklahoma should get in over OSU now . Provided the Dogs lose
December 1st, 2018 at 4:27 PM ^
I know we don't like OSU. But I don't quite get the logic. If OSU slams NW then I don't see why OK looks lots better, having beaten TX in a fairly close one.
December 1st, 2018 at 4:19 PM ^
OSU is not as good, & UM is not as bad. as they looked last week. There's a whole season of evidence.
December 1st, 2018 at 4:09 PM ^
simpson is playing a bit careless on both ends today. needs to make every possession count, like he has done his whole career.
December 1st, 2018 at 4:09 PM ^
I’m not saying it’s been an up-and-down game, but the under-4 timeout just happened with 31 seconds left.
Purdue scored 16 points on their first 12 possessions. They’ve scored 12 on the next 21, including 10 consecutive empty possessions. Michigan seems to be able to make first-half defensive adjustments. Yaklich is building a monster. :)
December 1st, 2018 at 4:12 PM ^
Z-dense is a proven phenomenon
December 1st, 2018 at 4:14 PM ^
Purdue has only 28 points in the first half. Wow. I know this is not last year's Purdue, but still.
December 1st, 2018 at 4:16 PM ^
Can Coach JB take over the OC position for the football program during the BB offseason?
December 1st, 2018 at 4:16 PM ^
If we beat another top-20 team by 15+, we should be at least #3 in the nation
December 1st, 2018 at 4:18 PM ^
Are we talking about NET or BPI?
December 1st, 2018 at 4:22 PM ^
I was speaking of the old school AP
December 1st, 2018 at 4:19 PM ^
Exactly
December 1st, 2018 at 4:16 PM ^
Hard to say what's been better for us today - offense or defense. We're raining threes, and playing with some great tempo. Defense (especially Z) is doing a great job.
Another incredible half of basketball. Now let's finish them off!
December 1st, 2018 at 4:22 PM ^
offense. 9-15 from 3 (matthews 3-4). a couple missed layups, but nobody in the country beats this team if we shoot > 50% from 3 on good volume.
December 1st, 2018 at 4:17 PM ^
screw it. We are a basketball school now
December 1st, 2018 at 4:18 PM ^
Man, basketball broadcasts flow so much better than football broadcasts.
If this was a football game, it would still be in the middle of the 1st quarter.
December 1st, 2018 at 4:24 PM ^
...and this is a full media timeout
December 1st, 2018 at 4:18 PM ^
In other news, UCF is down to Memphis 21-7 in the 1st Quarter.
Maybe we do want to play them.
December 1st, 2018 at 4:20 PM ^
If they lose to Memphis, they won't be playing us.
December 1st, 2018 at 4:21 PM ^
damn they wouldve been back to back champs if Milton didnt get hurt. I feel bad for Milton though thats a tough injury
December 1st, 2018 at 4:20 PM ^
Loving the lob play to Teske. Executing it like a pro...
December 1st, 2018 at 4:21 PM ^
34.5 first half possessions (Michigan gets the extra possession on the late steal). Michigan cools off from nearly 2 ppp through 16 possessions to a “mere” 1.26 ppp for the half. Purdue started out hot and then got shut down; 0.82 ppp (!) for the half.
Purdue shooting 36.8% on 2s and 33.3% on 3s — 41.9% eFG; Michigan, 47.0% on 2s and 60% (!) on 3s for 67.2% eFG. That’s the story of the game; other factors are pretty much even: Michigan with a 17% turnover rate (Purdue: 20.6%) and a 26.7% OREB rate (Purdue 26.3%). Michigan 1/2 from the line; Purdue 2/2.
Figure a slightly faster second half; if Michigan can get to 70, I think they wrap it up even if Purdue plays much better on offense.
December 1st, 2018 at 4:24 PM ^
Great stats
Watching the game with my eyes, I can tell you why they’re shooting such a low percentage. We contest nearly every shot, and a lot of these are off-balance prayers or heavily contested threes.
December 1st, 2018 at 4:28 PM ^
Oh, without question; plus Purdue definitely got flustered late in the first half.
I basically just do these halftime numbers as a worst-case reasonable scenario. I picked 1.1 ppp on 38 possessions, which would probably represent Michigan’s worst defensive half of the season. As good as Michigan’s defense is, I don’t know that they can hold Purdue to 0.82 ppp in the second half also. Although I’d love to see it. :)
Go Blue!

How about that Les Miles commercial
