Not a huge surprise. I'm betting that Iowa will want this game to be a night game.
August 22nd, 2022 at 7:10 PM ^
Please no night game. I have a damn wedding
August 22nd, 2022 at 7:12 PM ^
Time for recording and a repeated warning to others not to say anything about the Michigan game!
August 22nd, 2022 at 9:00 PM ^
All religions, sects, and Universal Lifers should have a separate wedding ceremony for Michigan football Saturdays.
In this other ceremony, the responses by the congregation, gathering, gang would all be some variation on "And let him who knows any updates of the Michigan game, let him forever hold his peace—or at least until all have had time to watch the taped version."
August 23rd, 2022 at 9:01 AM ^
Universal Lifers
What about ceremonies for folks with Term Life policies?
August 23rd, 2022 at 7:45 AM ^
You can record weddings now? Why didn't I think of that?
August 22nd, 2022 at 8:24 PM ^
Me too…sigh.
August 23rd, 2022 at 3:37 AM ^
10/1/94, I got married but Michigan beat Iowa and we won 29-14 @ Kinnick. I was afraid of a big let down after the last second Cordell 70 yard TD pass!
This is how it's done boys! Our current QBs .> Collins, . '94 D > our current D. Current OL -- 94 OL. Our RB=<[94 RB of TD Tim and Wheatley. Our current WR == 94 WR. Day game better than a night game. I still think we will win by 10 to 20 points
August 23rd, 2022 at 9:41 AM ^
What was Iowa thinking with those uni's? Have they been seen since '94?
August 23rd, 2022 at 3:09 PM ^
Thanks, I thoroughly enjoyed those highlights. And good Lord, Wheatly and Timmy in the same backfield had to terrify opposing DC`s. Great receivers too.
August 22nd, 2022 at 7:13 PM ^
I can imagine TV producers will want it a night game , in prime time, being it's a rematch of teams in the BIG10 Conference Championship.
I'm just glad it's on October 1, and not likely to be freezing cold.
August 22nd, 2022 at 7:22 PM ^
I haven’t seen the slate of BIG games that week, but good chance Fox will want it for the 12:00 slot and I’m pretty sure they get first pick.
August 22nd, 2022 at 7:38 PM ^
FYI - looking like a night game even though it's the most interesting Big Ten game that day. Some 12pm and 330pm games already set, apparently.
August 22nd, 2022 at 7:46 PM ^
But the determinant isn't space, it's whether FOX picks us or not. Because: (1) The Big Ten knows what it feels like for all the good games to be piled into the noon or 3:30 slots, with truly zero night games in several weeks (so the fact that games are piling into these times is an equivocal finding) and (2) FOX favors putting its premier Big Ten game at noon.
August 22nd, 2022 at 8:16 PM ^
Michigan vs Iowa is the biggest game of the day, not just in the BIG10, but in all of college. There is Alabama at Arkansas. That's the biggest SEC match up. It will have National interest only because it has Alabama. A good match up that day is Oklahoma St vs Baylor. It will have significant playoff implications. And it should be a really good game. Though it doesn't have the interest Nationally of Michigan vs Iowa. Whatever time that Michigan game is on it will be the highest rated game of the time slot. And I think it will be the highest rated game of the day. It may even be in the top 10 rated games of the regular season. I personally want it in the late slot. 12:00 East Coast start times are 9:00am here in the West Coast. Not fair to the West Coast that these big games come on early on a Saturday morning. 5:00 start times are great!
August 22nd, 2022 at 9:54 PM ^
I live on the west coast and have no problem watching 9am games, comes with the territory. A noon game at Kinnick is much easier than a night game. I think the scheduling gods may give us a break here, let’s accept it.
August 23rd, 2022 at 1:10 AM ^
Yeah, I live in CA and love 9am games. Wake up and it's game time and then it's over and you still have most of the day. 1230 local time games are the worst. 5pm is pretty good because you get the full day but the wife doesn't like when I'm not participating in dinner / kids bedtime.
August 23rd, 2022 at 12:08 PM ^

"Hey kids, let's watch TV while we eat dinner!" :)
August 23rd, 2022 at 5:03 AM ^
Very much agree. I’m in Sacramento, and it’s really nice to have a 9 am game that doesn’t break up the day.
August 23rd, 2022 at 12:24 AM ^
Hoping for a night game at Kinnick is a bold strategy. Give me an 11 am local time start every single time
August 23rd, 2022 at 6:30 AM ^
What is being overlooked here is that this is a really lousy slate of B1G games. If this were baseball, the B1G would be batting .142 on the day.
August 23rd, 2022 at 8:46 AM ^
You mean a Kody Clemens-level Big Ten schedule that day.

August 23rd, 2022 at 9:59 AM ^
I have a 5 hour drive from KC. Night game would be just fine so I do not have to cut the trip in half the night before in Des Moines (not driving 5 hours to spend a Friday night in Cedar Rapids) and save the food and hotel $.
3:30 also just fine however I suspect that it's going to be the noon or night game.
60/40 it's the night game.
When will the decision be made?
August 23rd, 2022 at 10:49 AM ^
Hell Yea, another fellow KC Wolverine!
August 22nd, 2022 at 8:07 PM ^
From my understanding, FOX gets first pick of the game they want for the entire season, not each week, and then a draft of sorts happens for the rest of the games.
August 22nd, 2022 at 8:29 PM ^
Close, they draft off weeks and then draft off games within each week. So it depends if Fox or ESPN has first pick that week
August 22nd, 2022 at 7:13 PM ^
What exactly is the "Black and Gold Game"? I know it can't be like the Maize Out or White Out games. Iowa fans routinely wear eye-watering, headache and seizure inducing combinations of black and gold, so it can't be related to any sartorial choices.
Do they serve some abomination they call "chili" that features corn nibblets and some disgusting base that turns the chili black?
August 22nd, 2022 at 7:28 PM ^
It's something they like to do when on national TV and especially at night. Alternating sections of black and gold attire. Remember Michigan's unsightly bumble bee unis? Think of it writ large.
August 22nd, 2022 at 7:31 PM ^
In the Black & Gold game, the sections at Kinnick alternate black and gold so that you have black and gold stripes in the stadium. It does look cool.
August 22nd, 2022 at 7:48 PM ^
Actually really cool they can get the sections to wear the right color. Say what you want about the farm country, but they really support their teams
August 22nd, 2022 at 8:03 PM ^
They put the shirts on the seat. Something Michigan should do, but 110k shirts would be expensive.
August 22nd, 2022 at 8:40 PM ^
So if they can put 70k shirts on the seats, we can afford 110k shirts. Warde, man up!
August 22nd, 2022 at 8:58 PM ^
They should include a team picture on the donated shirt and up charge the tickets $50 and give the money to the players.
$5.5 Million or so NIL.
August 22nd, 2022 at 11:21 PM ^
I was actually being snarky, because I would love to see this at The Big House, I mean plain Blue and Plain Maize shirts all XXL so people just put them on over what they are already wearing, but hey maybe they are waiting for that new TV deal to happen to offset the cost!
August 22nd, 2022 at 8:36 PM ^
It's nice that other teams bring out their Sunday best when Michigan comes to town.
August 23rd, 2022 at 2:04 PM ^
Last year, the top 5 matchup of PSU-Iowa was the black & gold game but it kicked off at 3pm. So it doesn’t guarantee a night game.
August 22nd, 2022 at 7:44 PM ^
Night game with a huge number of viewers would be great. Just means more people watch us stuff them once again.
August 22nd, 2022 at 8:34 PM ^
Exactly. Extra motivation for our guys--like when you get scheduled for another HS team's homecoming game.
August 22nd, 2022 at 8:09 PM ^
I really hope for a 4pm Eastern game (I know this is the least likely outcome) because my son coaches HS football and we plan on making a Michigan-Iowa/New England-Green Bay road trip.
August 22nd, 2022 at 8:21 PM ^
Big Noon Kick on Fox thankfully.
August 22nd, 2022 at 9:51 PM ^
Do we know that for sure?
And didn’t Iowa beat the hell out of Ohio State in the day time? Or they beat the hell out of somebody they weren’t supposed to in the noon slot. Can’t remember who it was.
August 23rd, 2022 at 1:12 AM ^
pretty sure the iowa beatdown of OSU was 330 start time.
August 23rd, 2022 at 7:24 AM ^
I'm betting on 11am local/noon EDT kick too. For some reason Iowa's home game against Nevada two weeks prior is scheduled as a night game (6:30pm local kickoff) and I doubt they'll do two night games in one season, let alone two weeks apart. It puts a lot of stress on local resources here in Iowa City (cops and security guards and the like) so typically there is only one night game per season.
August 22nd, 2022 at 8:25 PM ^
Not at night, please.
August 22nd, 2022 at 8:32 PM ^
Bring it on!!!!!
Kinnick Voodoo has been exorcised!
August 22nd, 2022 at 10:52 PM ^
They could schedule it for 4 AM and their offense would still suck.
August 22nd, 2022 at 11:03 PM ^
4AM? Pretty sure everyone would suck then. Depends on how long the drinking has been going though I guess
August 23rd, 2022 at 12:21 AM ^
That didn't seem to matter in 2016 when they were much worse.
August 23rd, 2022 at 9:05 AM ^
Sure, it's not 2016 now, but who knows what tomorrow will bring?
August 23rd, 2022 at 3:02 AM ^
I think we will spank them and win by 20 points. If both teams are highly ranked it will probably be an 11 am or 3 pm central local time KO.
August 23rd, 2022 at 6:12 AM ^
Already counting on it being a night game. I’ll be surprised if it isn’t.
