Submitted by 615Wolverine on March 14th, 2023 at 11:04 PM

With Vanderbilt beating Yale in the first round. Michigan will now face Jerry Stackhouse and Vandy this weekend in Nashville. It will be nice to see my Wolverines come to Nashville. I will for sure be at the game. Go Blue!
Game to be played either Saturday or Sunday.

Shooting down?  You mean, dumping fuel on and physically running into drones with an outdated "fighter jet"?  That was embarrassing, Vlad, even by communist standards.

But hey, that badass in Belarus has still got your back...and so does the fat kid that doesn't poop in North Korea...and the run-over-kids-with-tanks-party in China is "crushing" it too...COMMIE PRIDE!

I am curious why you're a fan of this particular second school.

Proximity? You live in the area?

You got a PhD in linguistics from Michigan and an MD from Vanderbilt?

It's a multi-transportational thing, being fond of UM's solar car and Vandy's boats?

You like the pairing of U & V, University of Michigan and Vanderbilt?

Of course not but when you spend this much time on a Blog dedicated to Michigan Sports it would seem that school would be your top choice.  I understand this is a cool blog with interesting characters.

Just curious is all. I know these are treacherous times and you may not want to divulge too much information.

If 36-24-36 is Vanderbilt's shooting splits in our next game, they will indeed be building a brick house.

Also - to bring this full circle, does anyone else remember that Brick House was the theme music for former Piston Jerry Stackhouse, who is now Vandy's coach??

Have to admit I never knew or bothered to look up why they are the Vanderbilt Commodores. Maybe i'm the only one but if you're in the dark like I was, it's apparently because it was Corneilus Vanderbilt's nickname - "The Commodore" - which makes more sense than me trying to figure out why the Navy was involved.

Hoping the schedule works out for me to go as well!

Last year, went to the baseball game @ Vandy that was played while an NIT game was played next door. Basketball fans came out of the game to watch the final terrible inning for Blue baseball.

If Jett stays sidelined, I am confident that we win this game. I am not trashing the young man - he has potential galore and I hope he realizes that potential in the NBA, - but the team functions differently without him. Bufkin, in particular, is significantly more dominant. We also tend to move the ball better and generally just look better (although far from great) in terms of team defense.

One man's "full of shit" is another man's "insightful." Which is my way of saying I agree with you.

And may I use this opportunity to applaud Joey Baker. I've slammed the guy a couple of times during this season, but jeez - 21 points, and 5/7 from the three? Well done, and where has this been all season?

Where is it been all season? Well, he’s certainly got more of an opportunity with Jett out, but also Toledo‘s defense sucks—hard. All Baker had to do was hit open threes and a couple of drives to the basket; and fortunately he was able to do that. Against Big Ten teams, you’re not getting quite so many open looks.

Well, he's only taken seven or more 3s in three previous games, all games in which Jett was out.  So he hasn't had the opportunity very often.

But he has had some great games off the bench: he was 4/5 from three with 14 points against Pitt and 3/4 with 14 points at Northwestern.  Those were both big wins against NCAA tournament teams so not weak competition.

But last night he got the opportunity and the competition was weak (at least defensively).  That's what allowed him to make those drives.  He wouldn't be doing that against Big ten teams much.

But he did shoot threes well against top level competition all season.  He was 38% against top 100 teams on the year.  Pretty good.

That the team shot "lights-out"  yet only squeaked this game out, at home no less,  says there is much more wrong with this team than Jett.

It was nice to see Hunter give, at least, some tacit defensive effort on a couple of occasions. It did not matter-Toledo scored at will when they targeted him. Hunter seems to inspire the opposition's offense. Stats often only tell the story the observer wishes to push. So, I will point out that Tarris was +5 in 5 minutes-and that +5 closed a Michigan deficit from 7 to 2...and guess who wasn't on the floor during that time. It is interesting how so few note the realities here.

but when yale got the lead/spread down to 3-4 points toward the end, boy oh boy did vandy get a home whistle on a handful of really critical calls.  i didn't care who won, but i felt bad for the bulldogs who were playing their hearts out in an 8-on-5 game at crunch time.

and i'll also say i wasn't overly impressed with vandy, not one bit.  of course we've laid a bunch of eggs on our own this year, but vandy looked 'meh' for lots of that game.
