This will be your place for hot takes and snowflakes regarding the offense.

Mel Tucker > Jim Harbaugh.

Will get demolished by OSU again. PSU if Clifford is full strength is a who knows.

Well go to some shit bowl in Florida and probably lose. We’ve seen this movie for years.

MSU sold out to stop the run, tried so hard to give us the passing game. Cade had a pretty good game, but the absence of the deep ball hurt us. JJ is NOT the answer, which leaves us with the sad reality that we just don't have an answer.

We had a chance to win despite the refs, but it took a shitload of bad calls to keep the game close.

-The phantom hold on Anthony that cost us a 1st and goal and we settled for a FG (4-point swing)

-Walker clearly did not have control of the ball when he crossed the goal line (7 points for MSU)

-There was no clear view of Thorne on the strip/fumble/TD and we settled for a FG (4 point swing)

-No flag when Johnson was clearly interfered with and we settled for a FG (4 point swing)

If one of these goes our way it's a win.  Two, and we win comfortably.

I think the Anthony call could easily have not been called and should have not have been called, but he did grab the guy. On the Thorne fumble that should never have been overturned but there was at least an argument that his shin was down when the ball came out, as Klapp said. The Walker call was not obvious, it could have gone either way. Johnson as interfered with. Point is, bad game for refs, but I disagree they cost us this game.

Up by 16, close the fucking game out, and score TD's in the red zone, doing that wins the game

By this logic, the refs never cost you a game because you can always overcome bad reffing by superior play.  However, I would argue Michigan stood a very good chance of winning this game if the reffing was more even handed.  The strip sack fumble overturn seemed particularly egregious.  One play not mentioned was the overturned pass that was close to the ground.

This season had no expectations. It was the perfect time to break in a new QB like JJ. Instead we’re stuck with Cade who cannot hit an end zone throw to save his life outside of a crossing route.

Now JJ’s confidence is potentially fucked bc of his fumbling in the crucial moment of this game.

The worst possible outcome. Incredible how Michigan Football just can’t get out of its way. Time for a new coach.

TheCube went from basically arguing “fire Harbaugh because he’s not playing JJ” earlier this week to “fire Harbaugh because he played JJ”.

Literally one of the worst posters on this board consistently. You can guarantee when Michigan does not succeed, he will be here with hawt take in hand, regardless if it directly contradicts the last hawt take he had. When Michigan is successful, he is nowhere to be found.

Jeepers man! Mccarthy turns it over once and he's already "not the answer". Cade was pretty good today, but if you're going to say JJ isn't the answer, after he was having a very effective day himself up until his fumbles, isn't the answer then idk what to tell you but your bar for what the "answer" at QB is must Jesus himself. Kid fumbled on a rainy day.

First and 10 near midfield up 3 with a chance to win the game. Cade had thrown over 300 yards up to that point and was able to move the ball all day. JJ just fumbled 3 plays earlier. Not a single Michigan fan wanted JJ in the game in that moment. Not a single one. Not even the biggest JJ supporter wanted him in the game in that moment. And Harbaugh puts him in. A Harbaugh team will always collapse. Either the punter will fumble it with 10 seconds left or the backup quarterback will.

3 times the team got into the red zone and settled for field goals. State scored touchdowns every time. That was the difference.

From this point beyond .... I like Cade and I like JJ but just go with ONE QB the entire game win or lose.  Just let ONE QB play the entire game unless hurt. No more rotating them in.  Just don't do it any longer.  I feel (at least my take) that is what lost this game for us in the long run.

Just one guy win or lose.  If the game gets way out in front ok .. put the backup in for some playing time.

Sucks to lose this one.  I only want 2 games to win ... MSU and OSU .... I can stand to lose a couple just NOT to them.

Higher ceiling…

I don’t buy the body blow story.  We out gained them and had a lot of big plays.  If that fumble TD in the end zone wasn’t mysteriously overturned we win.  They got all the calls.

Of course we can point to this bad call or that bad call.  But by now we all should realize that Jim is the main problem.  Jim has the roster talent advantage every year against MSU.  But his offensive dysfunction means that he loses to MSU a lot.   Bad officiating happens.  But Jim has no excuse for that game to be close enough for bad officiating to even be a factor.

Eh.  He didn’t overthrow the flea flicker.  He didn’t drop the pass to the flat that was one on one for a td. He didn’t make the bad call on the strip sack.  He didn’t jump on the fourth and one.  This was a game of a few plays that could have made the difference.  And they were there.  That’s his job.

It's time to find a new coach. Harbaugh will just keep us as a 8 to 9 win per season team. PSU and OSU will probably beat us. Now he can't even beat fucking MSU!  Time to kick Harbaugh's ass to the curb.

MSU and OSU both have the exact same gameplan for beating Michigan, they put 8 guys in the box on first down and say "throw."

This is not a this year thing it's a year-over-year-over-year thing. First half they seemed to know that, and they let Mcnamara rip and he played out of his mind. Second half they just fucking run into these 8 man boxes for no gain and then they go empty set second down and MSU can just drop everybody in coverage.

It's fucking stupid, and there's a place for the kind of rocket science in-depth analysis that this blog does, but really this is not complicated, you beat this through the air and with screens, and you don't get a lead and blink and put your QB in an impossible situation. Really poor. Bad officiating in this game, but this is on the coaches, the players on offense and defense played their hearts out, and the coaches are consistently losing at tick-tack-toe.

We can pin this on the offense for scoring all of 3 fourth quarter points.  And not coming through on the final drive with a chance to win.  That would be fair.  But for crying out loud the defense let Walker into the end zone FIVE times.  And gave up two horrible 4th down conversions that could've swung the game more in our favor.  Defense gave up 15 fourth quarter points and gave up our lead.  I am looking square at the defense as well.

I hope the fans (and some writers) on this blog and message board finally recognize that there’s more to playing quarterback than the easily-recognizable physical attributes. If that were all that mattered, then Joe Milton would still be the starter right now.

JJ is green and turnover-prone. That’s okay at this point— he’s still a freshman and has time. I’m not sure how many people have seen him throw yet, but he tends to force the ball into coverage. He may have been able to get away with that in high school, but those turn into interceptions at this level. That said, I had no idea he took such poor care of the football while running before today and can’t believe he was put back in after the first fumble. He has potential, but he is nowhere near ready right now.

Cade was and is still the better quarterback. He came from a very pass-happy high school program and needs the opportunity to throw more often to get and stay in rhythm. And at his point, anyone who still has a shred of doubt that he’s “the guy” needs their head checked.

On a positive note, at least Andrel Anthony is getting the PT he deserves. Henning also should be playing over Baldwin and Johnson.

OL is soft. Receivers are soft. Tight ends are soft. McNamara isn’t good enough for this level. But it all goes back to the head guy. He recruits, he hires the coaches, he oversees the whole operation.

Career games from Cade, All, and Andrel Anthony.

But some of the same problems punching it in when we had chances at the 20.

If you had told me the offense would have scored 33... I'd say not bad, not great.

Not bad, not great. The rest of the game did not work out.
