How exactly does this article about Wisconsin and msu shed new light on Michigan’s season?

Ummm...no it doesn't.

Son. A comment like that earns you a C-

And yet I’ll still up vote it for accuracy.

There was a time that MSU was far below Michigan and OSU was about equal.
Now “at least MSU looked worse than us” makes people feel better.

Staee’s struggles is a distraction from the pain. It doesn’t cure all of the pain but it helps.
October 13th, 2019 at 1:47 PM ^
It’s like putting a Band-Aid on a broken leg.

Satee's struggles mean jack shit when it comes to playing Michigan. Mork will have them up for Michigan regardless of records and it will be as dirty as ever. It's Moo U's bowl game.

They dont matter.

I remember that. I also remember a time, less long ago, when Michigan was far below both.
This is not a defense of Harbaugh's record thus far. I have mixed feelings about that. But it's a recognition that when MSU struggles, it helps us, and vice versa. It's not a coincidence that their best eras in history (1950-67, 2008-2015) were the same times as Michigan's greatest struggles. And when MSU was in the wilderness for 40 years from 1968-2007, Michigan had the 2nd best winning percentage in the country in that era.
So overall, yes it does make me feel a little better when they look bad, because it tends to correlate with our success. It makes it easier to beat them, change The Narrative, and win recruiting battles. We can't even think of winning the Big Ten and beyond if we can't win our own state.
No, it's not enough, but it's a prerequisite.
October 13th, 2019 at 2:18 PM ^
Sadly, MSU isn’t anywhere near as good as they were at that point - so being slightly better than current MSU isn’t saying much.
October 13th, 2019 at 2:28 PM ^
Both teams look very sloppy this year, especially on offense.
Beating MSU this year might not be saying much in terms of difficulty, SOS, SP+, or deeper analyses. But it counts as a win over a rival. Maybe more importantly, it's a non-loss to an important (for recruiting, etc.) rival. College football narratives are broad strokes. If we win, it's "3 of the last four, we are taking back the state." If we lose, it's "Harbaugh is 2-3 vs MSU and can't beat them at home, can't beat rivals."
October 13th, 2019 at 5:29 PM ^
Why can't people give credit where it's due. MSU has been more on par with OSU while we keep clamoring for a new coach.

What else is there?
October 13th, 2019 at 1:44 PM ^
A simple "that was a dumbass statement" would've worked too.

I for one welcome any article that talks about how much sparty sucks

A lack of input validation on the server side is what's up with that.

You have a really weird name...

Thanks buddy I appreciate the support

This Michigan State team lost to ASU at home, got body bagged by OSU on the road, and then followed that up with an even worse performance on the road at Wisco.
Michigan has the chance to seize the narrative about their season next weekend. I sure hope the season doesn't boil down to a pool noodle fight with Michigan State.
October 13th, 2019 at 1:25 PM ^
I was at the game in Madison yesterday. State looked like straight garbage, no energy. We *should* get a lot of pressure on Lewerke.
October 13th, 2019 at 2:13 PM ^
That is straight up the freakiest thing I’ve ever seen! +1000 if I could.
October 13th, 2019 at 1:26 PM ^
All MSU’s loss to Wisconsin does is put them in prime position to devote the rest of their season and all their resources into punching us directly in the nuts.
October 13th, 2019 at 1:36 PM ^
So it changes nothing.
October 13th, 2019 at 1:27 PM ^
Reports elsewhere note that Dantonio, after taking responsibility as head coach, immediately adds that the players didn't execute well. That's not exactly absolving himself and throwing them under the bus, but it is nudging them into the path of the bus as it rolls by.
October 13th, 2019 at 4:07 PM ^
I recall he said the same thing after Arizona State, pointing his comments at the kicker in particular.
October 13th, 2019 at 1:27 PM ^
If the team finishes 8-4 I just hope to holy fuck they beat the living crap out of sparty
October 13th, 2019 at 2:04 PM ^
If by "beat the living crap out of" you mean "defeat by a score of 12-10," then I think you'll get your wish.

3-0 in triple overtime

I am so excited for us to play Sparty for the 3rd place in our division trophy.
October 13th, 2019 at 1:43 PM ^
This makes me so sad.
October 13th, 2019 at 2:34 PM ^
Would you rather lose to them?
October 13th, 2019 at 3:57 PM ^
I’d rather Michigan look like a team capable of winning the B1G, personally.
October 13th, 2019 at 1:35 PM ^
Who are you, you masked man!

October 13th, 2019 at 2:07 PM ^
Respekt! ????✌️
October 13th, 2019 at 1:44 PM ^
This really doesn't make me feel any better.
October 13th, 2019 at 2:01 PM ^
Happy to not only see Sparty lose, but get obliterated. All it shows is that Wisconsin is as good as they’ve showed, and also they are way ahead of Michigan in all aspects. Kind of depressing. And Chryst came in about the same time as Harbaugh. Wisconsin is a well coached team and Michigan is obviously not.
October 13th, 2019 at 2:36 PM ^
But Wisconsin never really had to go through a rebuild. Both Bielema and Gary Anderson had them at respectable levels and good wins.
October 13th, 2019 at 7:16 PM ^
Its year 5. How long does so called rebuilds take? the 2016 was all Hoke recruits. Pity Harbaugh for having with 10 NFL draft picks
October 13th, 2019 at 2:42 PM ^
Last year Michigan beat the breaks off Wisconsin, and Chryst went 8-5. Things change from year to year. Doesn’t mean their program is ahead of Harbaugh’s.
October 13th, 2019 at 2:22 PM ^
Typical Freep. Polish an MSU turd by running down Michigan.
October 13th, 2019 at 2:54 PM ^
Msu is not good enough to win the rest of the games on their schedule, what a ridiculous sentiment. I also disagree that msu would beat Michigan right now, we are having a disappointing season, but they just lost to our one common opponent more thoroughly than we did(which is saying something). I know the transitive property is dicey in sports, but it's what all we have for now, other than polls.
