Michigan - Rutgers opens at -19

Opening line has Michigan - Rutgers at -19!! I was expecting -14, so this was quite surprising. I suspect some of this is due to Michigan’s wild outperformance of Vegas lines so far…

Michigan 16.5 points favorites vs. WMU. Won by 33, beat the spread by 16.5.

Michigan 6.5 points favorites vs. Washington. Won by 21, beat the spread by 14.5.

Michigan 27 point favorites vs. NIU. Won by 53, beat the spread by 26 points.

That is average beating of the spread by 19 points so far!!

I’m selling Rutgers. They can’t stop the run and the offense has looked pretty Rutgers. They’ve relied on turnovers to beat Temple and sneak past Syracuse. None of the teams they’ve played have a pulse. I expect a little fight at first but Michigan wins this one easily on the back of the RBs and perhaps some new passing game stuff installed to prep Wisconsin to worry about the air attack.

Just noticed that Rutgers is averaging 2.9 yards per carry and their leading rusher, Pacheco, only has 85 yards through 3 games. I see a lot of 3rd and longs and multiple Hutchinson sacks in the knights future

I'm not betting. But if I did........Rutgers is the pick to make money. A Michigan win is good enough.....leave the points alone. Just my opinion.

I take the opposite view. I think it'll be closer than that and Vegas knows it. They want to recoup some of that money in a game they know will be closer than it seems it should be.

Give Schaino the job of stopping one facet of offense and he'll usually do a damn good job. He'll come in daring UM to score in the air. UM either runs on them regardless or has to do exactly that. We'll see.

What’s crazy is when you look at each game we play at espn.com and the football power index has us favored in every game except for Penn St, which currently has it as a 50% split. When is the last time that has happened?

Looking forward to this game as Rutgers has looked decent and will give us their best when they play us.  I know the coaches will want to run the ball but I am hoping they allow Cade 20+ passes in the game and have a decent balance. I'm also  hoping they continue where they left off from last week as far as consistently good drives.

Mich 38  Rutgers 13

The team I am most worried about is PSU. They have looked good and are playing very tough right now in my opinion.

OSU so far has not looked like typical OSU at all and well ... yeah ... I love that.  =)

Alot of people fooled by Rutgers 3-0 record. Look at the actual numbers, they still are a bad football team and are only 3-0 because of turnover luck, etc. On a  per play basis UM is almost 4 yards better this year, that isn't much better for Rutgers than the years that UM has paved them. Barring turnover shenigians they should be able to cover this.

This one is tough for me to pick because I think Rutgers is still a little unknown. The tough Syracuse win has me thinking UM will cover easily, but 19 is not a small spread. I think the over of 52 is a really safe bet though - if UM covers the spread they might get 52 on their own!
