Michigan players on the Amazon series

Submitted by snarling wolverine on

They are generally positive about the series.

Dwumfour, Ruiz and Metellus are quoted in this article.  Metellus sets the record straight on a particularly embarrassing moment...

Yep.

FWIW, Zordich played in 185 out of 192 possible games during his NFL career, and I believe he only missed 1 game during his time as a starter. Those old-school guys are tough to please unless you have a broken bone, a torn ligament, etc.

Only two episodes in and really like the show. Really cool to see behind the scenes. Not sure why but Wilton reminds me of Spaulding from Caddy Shack in this show.

I'm finally watching the series now. I was planning on not re-living the pain that was last season. After all the positive comments, I've started this week. Just saw the MSU loss. Shit.

But this show is AMAZING.

Gary's breakdown after MSU will make me see him differently for the rest of his career. Karan's family. Winovich is everyone's favorite. Bush. Pep.The entire series so far has made me love this team even more. LOVE IT

Forgot to mention how awesome Don Brown is. And I could have just left it alone. But I publicly feel the need to say that Don Brown is riviting to watch and wonderful. And I don't want Don Brown to hunt me down for not publicly mentioning him. He intimidates me through my TV

Came off well:

Harbaugh, Pep, Gary, Mo, Karan, Chris, Most of the other players, Sarah(shes a saint), Don Brown. So far I'm 5 episodes in so more maybe to come.

Some of these guys came off extremely well. I mean Rashan's part blew me away. I did not konw what kind of guy he is, the passion, the struggle with his family, etc. Cheers to him. Loved Karan, and really liked Pep as well. One of my favorite parts is after the MSU loss when Harbaugh is home with his wife and she says something to him and he just totally ignores her and you can tell he's in another world. These guys care a lot about Michigan.

Came off not as well:

O'Korn and Speight, Drev. Drev seemed like he was as others have said, just along for the ride. O'Korn seemed like he did not have a grasp of his own talent level. He just wasn't that good and couldn't play within himself. Wilton just came across as a little kid/immature. His girlfriend also came off very poorly, IMO.

And glad it was made.  Honestly, it was difficult to watch the losses but I really appreciate getting to "know" the players and coaches close up.  As many have said, Coach Don Brown is THE DUDE.  Harbaugh did nothing to take away from my opinion of him.  I think Pep definitely made a lot of believers.

Rashan Gary is not only a monster between the lines, he CARES about the game more than anyone.  When he broke down after the msu loss, it showed how much he pours into the game.  Gotta love kids like that.  Truly rare breed.  I would watch a series hosted or starred in by Chase Winovich.  That dude puts a smile on your face everytime he's on.  DPJ and Tarik are studs and pretty cool student athletes.  Best thing is you realize that these players are just kids.  Karan's daughter is freaking adorable.  I'm glad Larry and his family got to share his story a little more. I know a lot of people thought Speight came off as a douche, but it can't be easy to have a camera following you especially when you're struggling on the field.  I like John O'Korn off the field much more than on the field.

I hope they do this again and it's during a championship season.  That would be incredible.  Great job Amazon!!

When I studied video/filmmaking in college, we were taught that when shooting documentary (and I believe this was observational as opposed to direct interviews) people are self-consciously aware of the cameras and equipment for about twenty minutes, and then "forget" the cameras are there. Then they tend to revert to their "normal" behavior.

(This was the old days, so one professor even suggested not recording the first bit if you really need to save "film/tape", but you take a chance on missing some  good footage. Nowadays, digital recording makes any such cost savings negligible).

Millennials grew up with cameras and being recorded all the time, so one would assume that they are less self-conscious or affected by being on camera.
