Michigan opens as 5 point favorites @ Indiana

Submitted by Bigly yuge on
Just checked the books and noticed the line for next Saturday’s contest at Indiana has been released. Michigan are currently 5 point road favorites. Will be interesting to see where this line goes as the week rolls on. Thoughts?

Back to QB. I mean, he's big and strong and fast, and based on my analysis sitting in my living room reading about what he did in New Mexico against a high school that runs the same offense as Indiana, he should dominate. I mean, what do we have to lose and can the offense play any worse? /s The answer is yes, yes they can, and they did, when Michigan was forced to replace Speight with O'Korn, whom Speight beat out for the starting job in the first place. Start Peters, the fourth string QB? Are you kidding me?

I'm sure they will all the sudden get a defense and their passing game will be lights out. That just how it goes for UM.

will cover this.  Had they won last night, with Penn State looming, this game would have "trap" written all over it.  But losing a tough rivalry game, and really struggling offensively, I would like to think Harbaugh earns his money with a good week of practice.

I also think this is a good week to add in some wrinkles (I know, I know, big assumption that they even have wrinkles), to give Penn State more to game plan for.  Again, had they won last night, and not been struggling to move the ball as much, they might try to keep things under wraps and spring them on Penn State, but it just does not seem they can do that.

So, I think the defense continues to play well (Indiana has scored 21 and 14 against OSU and PSU, respectively, including doing virtually nothing in the 2nd halves of both those games).  The offense will show some things early, maybe trade blows in the 1st quarter while defense settles in.  30-17 Michigan.

I think your first instinct was right- give Penn State more to game plan for, rather than holding something back,

Holding back only works if you are sure you have the talent to execute it.

Nothing worse than holding back a "surprise" and then it fails. Showing something, even if it fails, at least gives future opponents something to consider and use up a bit of meeting and practice time.

Hoping that the weather for the Indiana game is decent, and Michigan can complete a few deep balls, because right now, we are not worrying anyone with that threat.

I’ll take the under.

MSU just gave the rest of the Big Ten the perfect blueprint for how to beat us. And IU has a good defense that’s likely going to stack the box over and over next Saturday.

we will have another game when we have 5 or more turnovers..

now we need to start forcing the opposition to turn it over some

pretty much all the other teams this season already showed vs Michigan?

I think our offense will again look mediocre vs Indiana, but I think Indiana isn't quite as good as MSU and it doesn't look like the weather will be inclement this time like it was vs MSU and vs Indiana last year.

Of course, we don't know what impact this loss had on the team mentally and how that will affect their performance in less than 6 days..but purely in terms of game plan Indiana's chances haven't really gone up because MSU was successful in pulling off what every other team tried to pull off vs us.

when you've been on a team, in a locker-room, & week to week you know as a team that you have glaring weaknesses that could cost you games against your top foes. I think that's what's happening with this team after weeks of dealing with O-line problems that domino in to QB play, receiver routes, the running game, scoring points, etc. This team has the attitude to be dominant but the same problems each week aren't giving them the confidence that they are dominant. The good win against Florida coming out the gate didn't really shake anybody because... well, first game excuses. But O-line struggles against Cincinnati, AFA, & Purdue of all teams could not have been lost on this team when they see physical teams like MSU, PSU, Wisconsin & Ohio coming. I think they'll cover & then some against IU but the coaches better hurry up & start putting this offense in more successful positions for the whole team's sake.

IU’s D has improved and their o willl beat us on a couple of long plays. It will be a Nordin kind of day with maybe 5-6 fg’s and a td. Final score M 22 IU 10.
