Michigan opens as 5 point favorites @ Indiana

Submitted by Bigly yuge on
Just checked the books and noticed the line for next Saturday’s contest at Indiana has been released. Michigan are currently 5 point road favorites. Will be interesting to see where this line goes as the week rolls on. Thoughts?

It's not like MSU lit us up, man. To hear the talk on here, you'd think this 4 point loss where we outgained the other team was a blowout loss. This was a very evenly matched game where we turned the ball over 5 times, mostly on increasingly desperate late drives in a downpour, and were largely screwed by giving up points off a fumble early and losing a TD to a stupid penalty.

Are there issues? Absolutely, the offense is hot garbage and there is a black hole at QB. But the whole "MSU is young too!" reasoning is silly considering how evenly matched we were. OSU was young last year and lost to every team they couldn't out-talent (except us, in heartbreaking fashion). The sky really isn't falling, it's just a bummer of a game to lose.

No shit. We lose to a great coach at an established program by the flukiest play ever In 2015 and turn the ball over 5 times yesterday and still came down to the last play. After a monsoon. With the youngest team in college football.
“Omg. Fire Harbaugh. Fire everyone. We should’ve won a national championship by now. I thought we’d just automatically beat our rivals every game. What are we going to do? Everyone on this planet is so stupid except for me because I want what I want and I’m not getting it right now and I dont deal well with that..”

I desperately want Harbaugh to succeed, he's my favorite Michigan coach since I've been alive. And I hate to say it, but Harbaugh was outcoached yesterday and he's responsible for the turnovers. We are 1 and 4 against our rivals and need to pull off an upset to avoid being 1 and 5. That's not very good. He's not on the hot seat, but his honeymoon is over.

Yeah, it did come down to the last play.
Would have been lucky to get that one, and we might be lacking the players to make that catch in the end zone at the moment, but we were THAT close to pulling it out.

Harbaugh has been beaten twice now by 8-4 teams while only letting them score 14. Iowa last year and MSU this year. Yes im predicting MSU finishes 8-4. How is that possible with the Harbaugh "brain trust" running the offense? We have offensive coaches who would be nfl coordinators if they didnt want the privilege nay honor of working for Harbaugh.

do you really, honestly, in the bottom of your heart believe we lost to MSU because Harbaugh took the team to Rome or whatever and not because we lost 11 starters and got into a shitty defeceit due to an ill timed fumble before a rainstorm?

I mean, Occam's Razor bruh

Providing you have a solid defense and special teams that won't cause you trouble. on offense you've gotta have the right factors- either a great QB, or a servicable QB who is surrounded by elite playmakers knows his own role and limits, and doesn't try to force things; and an offensive line competent to allow those playmakers excell.

Glad we only have a week to prepare. If Indy recruits only 2 and 3 star tough guys on O , we are history.

The Sagarin Ratings math would work like this:

 Michigan (85.73) - Indiana (75.61) - 1.97 = 8.15

So, using that system, Michigan is a one-possession favorite, which I would probably buy right now.

doesn't play well on the road unless they are playing Rutgers or Maryland. Indiana will be a diffcult game. O'Korn's confidence is shattered and we lack playmakers on offense. Factor in Michigan propensity to turn the ball over we probably will see a tight game.

IMO, he should play Peters. Can the offense be any worse with Peters at QB? By all acounts, he has the most skills of our QB's and all he needs is seasoning. I believe he gives us a good of chance of winning as does O'Korn.

I won't forget JOK in this game, and would like to see Peters play. My gosh what a disappointment. As great as he looked vs Purdue, the smallness and pettiness came through in his interview afterward how it was all about showing up Tony Levine. that was a red flag. When the heck are we gonna find mentally tough players of old..... At this point I'd like to even see Malzone play. Can someone explain to me how other teams now to attack msu safeties deep but we refuse to do so....

Do you trust the o line to protect the QB for 4 seconds? Also, our WR corps is just not that good right now. No seniors, Ways has disappointed, Crawford has a bunch of drops and McDoom dropped one that hit him in the chest, and Black is hurt. DPJ has all the talent in the world, but a lot to learn about the intricacies of the position, and that means everyone knows we are going to Perry on 3rd downs. I don't think there's a simple solution right now to having a mediocre (at best) OL, a backup QB that struggles with pocket presence, and a WR group that can't get open, and can't always catch when they are.

next Saturday will be a very pleasant, unseasonably warm, sunny day in central Indiana. Unless things majorly change there should be no weather concerns.

With that said, I think Indiana is probably similar to Purdue in many ways..and so we *should* win but it won't be like we'd just destroy them. It'd be a respectable game for them.
