"The point, however, is that if the Wolverines have a workhorse running back they can rely on, that will take some of the pressure off of Speight to make every throw. Instead, if he can simply make the easy throws and then dial up some play-action deep balls a few times per game, then this offense could be difficult to handle." This year vs. last--still good defense, but running game showing a few more signs of life than last year, and more receiving weapons. Last 2 years (includes Rudock) we needed our QB to play not just OK but well. If our running game goes well, we might win with OK (but not bad) QB play. He has no angst about accepting Speight's ceiling, and makes a good point about what we need from Speight, a point which I haven't seen much on this blog space.

Gotta say, I look forward to Michigan Monday on a weekly basis and am consistantly disappointed when it's not up on Monday. It's written in a well, engaging manner and full of good and rational view points.

As my contribution to that Ohio State Onday column, anyone catch OSU's blocking scheme on that kick return that went for a big gain against OK?  It was outstanding, the best I've seen executed against a kickoff that tries to squeeze the return into half the field.  The two lead blockers were coordinated and attacked perpendicularly at the same time the returner did.  They're going to score a touchdown on a return soon.

I love this. I remember seeing this when watching the game.

"There was a point early in this game where Don Brown was getting ready to call a play and the camera shows Greg Mattison staring at him intently, and in my head all I can hear Mattison thinking is, “Forget about the curveball, Ricky. Give him the heater.” And then Brown calls the play and Mattison happily nods at the carnage that is about to take place."
