The way you squeeze more than 5 minutes out of games like these never ceases to amaze me.

Shea's interception, they ran a vertical rout, an out route, and there was a guy underneath. He of course threw it to the out route and got picked by a LB dropping back in zone. The underneath was WIDE OPEN with no Iowa players anywhere near him, for an easy first down and probably at minimum 5-10 more yards after that.
And most people probably wouldn't be mad if he got picked throwing it up to the guy running the vertical route.
Shea made the worst decision on the play when plays were there to be made to extend the drive.
I still believe that the offensive issues is more on the QB executing and not Gattis.

If we had a respectable ground game (need the OLine to be consistent getting push and creating holes — they look like they’re running in wet cement) it would take some pressure off Shea (he doesn’t seem to handle it well, amongst other things). What run plays to call and when has also been an issue.
I’d put in order of bad shit going on:
1. Ball security
2. Shea
3. Coaching/play calling
4. OLine
5. RB missed assignments
6. Receiver separation
7. Receiver dropped passes

Our tailbacks gained 108 yards and a TD on 24 carries yesterday. That's not too bad against a pretty solid Iowa front seven.

I said this multiple times during the game (and the 4 games before this one fwiw); we have not been able to establish the run. I thought we were on our way to it yesterday, with several 7 yd runs strung together, but we went away from it. Urban Meyer was right (vomits in mouth) when he said CFB teams rely on big plays, and our RBs just cannot seem to get past the LBs.

1 and 2 are correct, though 1 has gotten better since the first three games.
Id slot play calling way lower. And most of the coaching is fine. I’d like to see if Milton and/or Dylan have the same issues as Shea to seem it a coaching problem.
Right now I’m leaning towards a lot of this woe on offense being a Shea problem, which is why I wanna see Joe or Dylan start at Illinois.

I'm impressed you were able to find 26 minutes of material that was worth clipping

Sacks eat up a lot of time.

The defense put on a show. 4 takeaways and 8 sacks.

I still credit the defense, but coverage sacks on Stanley because he held the ball even longer than Shae are not quite the same same thing as penetrating defensive line sacks.
They still count however, and i refuse to give any back.

Defense has improved but you can't say the same about the offense. Unless they can score more, this season is not going to be a success. Penn State, Notre Dame and Ohio State all put up a lot of points.

Best video summary of Michigan games. Really captures the true nature of each game. Thx

Lack of a call, where Black would have had a completion in the end zone, may have changed the complexion of the game.

I love how you can hear the crowd go “ooohhhhh” as a WR runs wide open only have Shea bail out of a clean pocket or throw it to a covered guy. There’s an audible sound of anticipation when the crowd is that loud and you can hear it a few times even if it’s not visible on screen.

Biggest shocker of this game is that Iowa lost a fumble. Opponents almost NEVER lose fumbles against us. They save those for every other team that play.
Savor it. This probably won't happen against until 2021.
