Michigan is a DC Away From Bring Elite

Harbaugh has made changes across the board and it’s time to ride Brown into retirement. If Michigan had a good DC then they would compete for a playoff spot

I include 2017, last year and this year.  Agreed, QBs didn't help, but in 2017 OSU scored 31 points in the final 2.5 quarters.  For the last 9 quarters, OSU has driven on UM with the resistance of a gentle breeze.  Maybe that's because OSU is simply unstoppable, but he is paid a lot of money for this very reason.  Also, "complete failure" against OSU is for 8.5 straight quarters is surely accurate, no?

I know the emotions are high, but personal insults - especially of this type, are below you.

Because he had a fantastic gameplan in 2016.  The pattern is 3 years, not 4.  Take that as you will.  We can choose to be blind of this pattern, or not.  We can decide that being that good against everyone BUT OSU is enough for our DC.  I cannot think this way.  The OSU game matters the most to me, and so that game is weighted very, very heavily.

But then again, there is another half to play.  Maybe he changes the pattern.  I am cautiously hopeful...but without much recent evidence to justify it.

2017 game hardly on Brown.

Shit the bed last year.

Dumb blitz calls today.

The only chance Michigan has against this offense is to bend but not break. Don Brown is the complete antithesis of that. In 6 quarters against Penn State and Ohio State, eight touchdown drives, zero field-goal attempts.

This is the dumbest comment. 1) OSU is not one-dimensional. They’re running and throwing down Michigan’s throws. 2) Even if they were, who cares if that one-dimension is *killing* you? “Well they ran for 500 yards and blew us out, but at least we stopped the pass.” Dafuq?

M has largely taken away everything except for their RB running all over us.

Fields threw for 200 yards in the first half. GTFO w/ “taken away everything except.” If allowing 200 passing yards in one half is “tak[ing] away” their passing game, I would hate to see what would need to happen for you to think OSU is passing well.

Oh fuck off with this bullshit.  The offense was garbage for half the season and we just witnessed a resurrection of that garbage with the fumble.  This team is nowhere close to elite

The last 9 quarters OSU has completely worked Don Brown over.

31 points in 3 quarters in 17

48 points in 18

28 in a half today.

Yeah, I’ve seen enough. On average, we’re spotting them 47.5 points before the game starts. Time to move on.

Players have to PLAY!   It's always been the offense that has been the issue.  The D is being put in good positions but players need to play and not get beat deep for sure.  Is there NO accountability to the players?  it's ALWAYS the coaches fault?

This game is going fine.  We are only down a couple scores and lately we have been a second half team not to mention we are playing the #1 team in the country.

Your statement is just DUMB.

If Michigan goes 0-5 under Harbaugh, it will be time to give up on any narrative that has Harbaugh being the Savior, or even worth keeping around.

This is fucking ridiculous. Everyone blames everyone but Harbaugh. Fuck that. This is squarely on Harbaugh, no matter what happens.

HAM - Players make mistakes ... it happens.  Did you play football?  Ever make a mistake / made a bad play even though you knew better?  Replay it in your mind and go ... oops?   Sheeeeesh

Players make mistakes ... it happens ... we just need to have as clean as a game as we can in this one.

The team doesn’t have a culture of winning. So they choke. Run into each other on defense. Jump offsides on a fucking punt. Drop the snap, again. Miss extra points. Call runs when passes are working. Just pathetic. Michigan has always been choke artists under Harbaugh.

i hope youre just drunk and not actually this stupid... look where DB's defenses rank year over year.

This year is more depth/talent level issues... good enough to shut down 90% of D1 teams, but problems with elite offenses.

No consistent DTs means playing DE at DT quite a bit which exacerbates the situation.  It will be better as Hinton & Mazi get skilled up enough to consistently play but for now Don Brown has made a change that many D coordinators wouldn't make & it has worked really well the majority of the year.

It would be great to be able to stick Aubrey Soloman in there but he didn't want to be here so I hope he enjoys his time in Knoxville

Scheme is not fine.  2nd and 18 and you go man coverage.  Michigan keeps getting burned in man coverage.  When you are in man you are susceptible to rubs and "screens". I thought Brown learned his lesson this year with incorporating more zone. This looks reminiscent to last year.  Most of the breaks went against Michigan, they are due in second half to have a few go their way.
