Obviously... we're a baseball school!

Perhaps the idiots in charge are finally learning that scheduling a powerhouse OOC team is a stupid idea when the conference slate is already difficult enough.

I hardly would call Arkansas and UCLA "a powerhouse OOC team". How soon can we expect the Texas series to be canceled and replaced with Akron?

what team filled the other date from the canceled UCLA series?

What a (presumably) weak non-con schedule. Season ticket appeal takes another hit.

I'm excited about 2023 when we play ECU! My son is a junior there and will be finishing his masters there in 2023. Before he went to college, we'd make the trip to the big house for an annual game so this is going to be really cool!

Actually, I would be curious to know what were the criteria behind the decision.
Did the decision-makers argue the pros and cons (so to speak) much like we are doing on this thread?
My theory is that is an attempt at regional balance: one in the far west, one in the far east, and one (sort of?) midway between the two . . . .
We could, I suppose, have picked an SEC team, but who wants to play in the heat down south that early in the season? It's bad enough facing the likes of Alabama on New Year's Day.

UConn? Compelling football indeed.
Not really though.

more bullshit; fuck you all if you think this is a good ooc schedule; pure puke.
We accept this ballz ass schedule and dare to rip on the SEC?
Morons on here who say Bama's schedule sucks and then somehow ignore the fact that they beat us with their bobby bouchet third-teamers? ND's half-assed ACC schedule puts this shit to shame.

I feel like we have a one-team problem in OSU. I don’t see how scheduling or not scheduling tough OOC opponents affects that in any real way. UCLA isn’t going to “get us ready” for OSU any more than UConn when removed by 10 or 11 games anyway.
Sure, it’s more fun to play UCLA than UConn, but unless they were removed from the schedule because they were seen as being “too tough”, I’m fine with it. Generally, I’m not for making our schedule any tougher than the murderer’s row it already is with regular B1G East play. I think these teams are almost perfect “Goldilocks” non-conference opponents for us — not too hard, not too soft, just right.

U Conn is a complete doormat team. It's good to see Michigan join Top 4 teams and have a cushy game where all the backups get in. Hopefully they add more as soon as possible.

UCLA was the best 4-8 team in America last year. No need to leave that kind of powerhouse on your schedule. Solid move.

You’d think a coach making $8 million a year would be able to secure yourself wins over UCLA. If not, spend another $4 million to buy wins over UCONN and E Carolina.
